Christmas Cruising 2005

Bumping so we don't end up on page two!

Mom had a cardiac cath today. All is fine. Can be managed with medications. Kind of weird having your mom have a procedure right outside your office door! But I know she is getting the best of care.

I miss Tig, Grim and Dede. My niece called and told me she wasn't that excited about the cruise (oh, those non-Disney types!), until she saw some pictures and did some research! See, it does pay off.

Need to concentrate on work, now that mom is ok! I need a weekend count. Does anyone know how many weekends until we set sail? Grim had it in his signature at one time. Seems to make it al go faster!!!

Karen, I happy about your mom's good news. What a relief for all of you. Do you work in a hospital?

As for weekends left, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't want to know! I'm not ready! Karen, what are your men wearing for formal night? This has been an obsessive topic for me all year. I know Grim said he's wearing a tux, and Grim if you're out there, are you wearing a bow tie or a straight tie for formal??? I have to get my guys' outfits prepared, it's getting close.

And have you all gotten your gift-exchange items done? I'm just wondering how I'm doing on the timeline compared to every one else.

Today I'm going to cancel the Under Two Flags tour on St. Martin that Jesse and I were going to do. I'm trying to keep expenses down to only what we really want, because those excursions sure add up $$$$$$$!
I also have to get a digital camera. We have one that Ive never used, which Chad bought a couple of years ago, but I don't think it's a good one. I also want to buy some underwater one-time use cameras. I have to get my little pharmacy together, too, tylenol, sunblock, imodium, bonine, swimmer's ear drops for Jesse who gets an ear infection everytime he goes in a pool, shavers and cream unless I get my legs/underarms waxed before we leave (sorry if this is TMI!), pepto, cotton swabs, toothpaste, hair conditioner, deodorant, and I guess that's it. Oh, and a comb!

Is anyone bringing their own Disney towels? I know DCL gives out towels, even for the excursions, but I think I want to take our towels because they're so cute!

Nan, how did it go with Half Moon Bay?

Karen: Whew. Thanks for keeping us up on mom. Please let her know that her Diser friends are all happy she is doing well and to take it easy now so we can PARTY on the ship. :cool1:  :teeth:

Aisling: I'm like you, don't tell me how much/little time we have left, I'll freak out :earseek: !!!

We ended up passing on the house in Half Moon Bay, although we both liked it, the offers (up to 4) were being presented at 5pm Monday and we ended up being too rushed to decide on what to do and it was on a busy corner, so perhaps another will come. At least we know that there is something that looks ok. Sometimes that is the hardest part in finding something, you look at so many dogs to get to the right one. I'm nervous about the search, if something good does show up, will we be ready to dump it all her and go? The kids school is such a big part of who they are right now and as a result we are involved too. I don't know, what the answer is. If we wait I wonder if we will ever go....Crystal ball anyone?

My boys are full tuxes, gotta get Wilson fitted soon, I've found a bunch on ebay just have to know what size to order him. Wish my dress would be that easy.

Nan

Thanks for your warm well wishes for mom - she a tough old broad - her words, not mine!

Here is my take on the weekend count ... it means it's closer!!!! Yes, I have yet to get a dress or two, forget losing weight, it just isn't going to happen, have most of my decorations ready, need to make my door decor, still doing the spreadsheet to organize the 12 of us, am busy EVERY weekend until the middle of December, but hey, we are going on a cruise, so it's all good!

Here is how the men in my party are dressing. Dominick and BIL will be in tuxes I am borrowing from the school (nice!), oldest nephew will be in a suit, younger ones will, at the very least, be in dress pants and a tie. There I run the whole gamut. Kayla will be decked out EVERY night, she loves to dress up. I am still looking (as I mentioned above).

I need a haircut soon and am planning a pedicure (never had one) before we cruise. Anyone have ANY idea where I can get good flat sandals? I can't mail order or on-line order - I have to try them on - weird feet. Ok not really weird feet, just very picky.

forget losing weight, it just isn't going to happen
Karen, I know what you mean. Accepting this fact is a big downer for me as far as the cruise is concerned.

You're going to LOVE getting a pedicure. I took my mom to get one for the first time, and she was so giddy, embarrassed about someone touching her feet like that. Me, on the other hand, find it so relaxing, I doze off in the chair. The foot massages are heavenly. Let us know how you like it!

Now, as for sandals, wow that's a hard one because of the season. Anyone out there have any ideas? I buy most of my shoes at payless and online, so I'm not quite sophisticated when it comes to shoes!

BBL :sunny: Jesse is annoying me at the moment! :sunny:

Aisling - I never answered you. Yes, I work at a hospital, but I am a data manager. I bow to anyone in the health care industry. I could never do what they do! I do physican volumes, trends, create and maintain forms for the facility. I love it.

As for the sandals, I looked at the Bass on-line site - and they have a sandal I have been wearing so I CAN order on-line! YEAH. need to do that tonight.

Am making dinner for mom .... BBL, maybe.

TEN WEEKENDS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :cool1:
I won't be around tomorrow....conferences. :teacher:
Went to tan today. My tan place does a free tan on Weds. in Oct. if you bring in a book to donate...so I figured I would go 1x/wk in Oct., 2x/wk in Nov. and 2-3x/wk in Dec. I love the idea of going on a cruise, and coming back w/ a glamorous tan, but I would just come back w/ a painful BURN! I tanned before the last on, slathered 45 SPF all the time, and came home w/ a gorgeous tan! :sunny: (for me). Have already got Dec. 23rd off. Definitely gonna workout and pack...considering a massage, mani & pedi, but not 100% sure I can get all that in! I may need to do the pedi the weekend before, maybe even do acrylic nails. I LOVE massages! I only began coloring my hair 2 years ago, and I think that was also around the time of my first pedi! I find manis don't last but a day. But I get color touch ups every 3 months, and pedis a couple times a year. Luckily I have a VERY reasonably priced hair stylist & I go to the "sweat shop" for pedis/manis (you KNOW what I mean)--they are SO much cheaper, though! :confused3 I like that they use this razor thing (I guess they aren't supposed to...), but it makes my feet baby-butt soft! :earboy2:
Well, Dan will be in suit, Hailey & I decked out to the hilt (cocktail dresses for me), and the boys in tropical attire. They don't own ties, nor shirts for them. Plus Marcus' dress pants are corduroy! He just wears dress shorts...so they boys are thinking tropical formal!
Apparently MIL was having TA overnite check to DIsney yesterday...so maybe tomorrow I can get on. I swing between panicked & no big deal...
Ten weeks sounds so short!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!
:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:
I gotta go check out this site for mini travel items
www.minimus.biz, I think!
I may check in!
Kris :wave2:

Hi Kris!!! You're such a busy girl!!

I've never been to a tanning salon, but I just may try it. I can use all the help I can get.

10 weeks. Wow it sounds so close.

I know we are all busy but, we have to stay on page 1 don't we???

Hi All :wave2:

Just letting you all know I am almost done building my arc!! :umbrella: This rain is outrageous!!!! Needed, but not to this extent. Several towns around me are flooded. Hope it's a nice weekend, my manager is getting married!

We were the last post on the first page - had to bump us!

Hi Gang,

It's a rainy, snuggly day, and I came home from work early. My boss is absent for the Yom Kippur holiday, so I took it upon myself to give myself the afternoon off. ;) Yesterday I started teaching my 5th grade religion class, and it was fun. I always hate going because it's tiring, but after a few minutes with the kids, I enjoy it and the times flies by.

I have to call DCL in a little while to ask about the CC Eco-Tour. It's the one where you use a jet-ski. It was gone by the time I wanted to book last Monday morning, but now I see there are openings. But I don't understand the pricing...it's $95 for a single rider and $160 for EACH double rider. That doesn't make sense to me. Jesse can't ride on his own because of his age, so he'll ride with me. But if it's $160 each, that's way more than I can pay. I was going to post a question on the cruise board, but I decided to call DCL and get the correct information, and then pass it on.

BBL :sunny:

Aisling: How sad I saw that your sig just dropped off one of the male mouse ears...we are going to miss your hubby...and we don't even know him. I think it's that guilt by association deal and he got the good end of the deal being with you

Nan

Hi guys!
Wait, I'm the only guy that posts here regularly...

Hi gals!
We're back from DL. Much fun was had.

Hired a limo to pick us up from LAX and take us to GC and back. On the way back it had a fully stocked bar. Too bad it picked us up so early this morning...

The tour and fireworks were great. Fantasmic! buffet was great. Hanging with my Sister and family was great. Haunted Mansion Holiday was GREAT! This was the first time seeing it. I'm a big Nightmare fan, so this was neat neat neat.

It was really crowded the whole week. I guess it's true that there is no 'off-season' anymore. Maybe it was because of 'fall break'.

Anyway, it's good to be home. Looking forward to a much more relaxing vacation in December :teeth:

grim pirate:

Grim, welcome back! How does the GC compare to the GF? I'm glad you all had a good time.

Nan, I was wondering if anyone would notice the missing mickey ears boy. Itmakes me sad, too. It would have been a great chance to liven up our marriage, but he has his own ideas. Anyway, it's done, and it's ok.

I planned on calling DCL about the Eco-Tour on CC, but I didn't do it yet. I'll make sure to do it tomorrow, before it's gone again. I worry about being able to get on the thing while standing in waist-deep water, but I'm sure a kind CM will take pity om me and give me a leg-up!

Watching baseball championship, and falling asleep. I have to get serious about the clothes I'm bringing. I started off with way too much for me, and not enough for the kids. My bad. Tomorrow I'll do inventory on our luggage, and put in the summer clothes.

Gonna go now before I get silly from lack of sleep!

Grim & Dede - welcome back. Wow, it sounds like you were busy and had fabulous things planned. We are hoping to make it out to DL in August of next year. We have family all over CA, so it will be a stop on the way from one family to another! I'm jealous twice in one year! I haven't been since 1975!!!

Bumping us back up. I don't want Tig to come back see us on the second page!

I saw some new trip reports posted, so I'm going to read them and BBL :sunny:

I'd love to stay and chat tonight BUT !!!!!! MY WONDERFUL HUSBAND GOT US TICKET TO THE EAGLES CONCERT FOR TONIGHT AND THE KIDS ARE SPENDING THE NIGHT AT THEIR FRIENDS HOUSE....SO I BETTER GO GET READY

i'LL FILL YA IN LATER,

NAN

p.s. I'm done screaming now.

NAN - NO FAIR!!! Kayla even says that's not fair!!!!
Guess what I found a semi-formal dress!!!! Dress Barn - $70 I am :cool1: and  and :cheer2: It is a long black sleeveless dress with a coat covered in blue glitter!!! The coat is JUST the right lenght for me!!! We figured Kayla would wear her blue dress (remember the one with the horse) and I would get a blue tie and comerbun (sp?) for Dominick to match - what a family picture!!! SO I am very excited!!!!

Now if I could find a bathing suit ....

Going to my manager's wedding tomorrow afternoon and another weekend with the Lindbergh Trial. We close next weekend. That will be 8 straight weekends with shows - but I love it (I think I mentioned that before!!)
