Thank you all for the warm welcome. :wave2:

Nan - Ok let my just say I am jealous - a suite? Also are you doing what my DD calls a 7/7. 7 day parks and 7 days at sea? Ok I'm over it. Your party plans sound so fantastic. I actually couldn't fall asleep the other night and found myself thinking of what I would to if I planned a theme party such as yours. "Sand Cups" (a dessert) and gold "chocolate" coins in the POC room. Chicken teryaki, fried rice and plenty of pineapple in the Tiki room. Cheeses of the World in the Small World Room. Party City (if you have one) or Oriental Trading Company can help with the decorations. Ok I REALLY couldn't sleep.

Aisling we are practically neighbors.

Grimgrinnin I just love your DISboard name!! :)

Tori There are 4 teens in our party. Two nephews 13 and 14, a neice 15 and DD 17!

Started working on my door decoration last night. Let's just say it involved a trip to Home Depot - the paint section!

I know you are not supposed to wish your life away, but I just can't wait until December 24th!!!! I just wish I knew what time our flight was so we can book our car service.

I don't think we are in a suite....We have a cat 4 room, I think the suites are cat 3....Kris doesn't your mom have a suite????

Aisling you might still be able to add the Romatic Escape, it was ~$300 and worht it for early ressies for the over planners like us.

I'm headed out for a drive to Half Moon Bay to get a new table....Lee & I spotted it yesterday, I've been looking for this type of table for 5 years, of course now I don't have a house to put it in (It was to go in our beach house in Half Moon Bay) but since it was so reasonable and Paul said ok, I bought it. We are also going to do some open houses, just looking they are over our budget, but if we ever want to get over there for good we have to stay plugged in for that dog to get listed so we can snatch it up.

Kris....San Jose....CKU.....it's a date... Come stay and we'll play!!!! What are the dates???

I'll come back and chat later...

Ciao,

Nan

Wow, Home Depot?? I can't wait to see your sign! I made one already, but I need a good print artist program to manipulate the letters and clip art. Have you been reading the Door Signs thread? I got some good ideas from there. I also bought 4 thin foam-material Christmas stockings with foam stickers to decorate them to hang on the door with magnets. And I'm bringing our regular Christmas stockings to hang inside the stateroom.
So do tell about your sign!!

Tori, you're so cute with the blank spaces! But I hate surprises! :rotfl: I need to know, and I need to know now!! What deck will your family be on?

Aisling: We picked up a bunch of red and green Mickey heads to decorate a wreath with. DD cut them out last night. Figured we would get a magnetic hook to hang it on the door. Love the door magnet thread. Have you looked at the picture of the day - some of theose photos are amazing.

Nan: Sorry I must have misread a post - thought you had a suite!

I didn't even think of a wreath! I don't think there will be enough room on the door for all the things I plan on putting on it!
Karen, just curious, what are your princes wearing for formal and semi-formal night. (I know, Grim, I'm obsessed with this topic!)

I read your posts about Talent night, and I can't wait to hear your DD sing. How proud you'll be, and are, I'm sure! :goodvibes

AISLING- We are on deck 2 because the room swith verandah's were all booked for the vacation club members...We have a huge window though!!

Tori, for my next cruise, I was planning on an inside room with no window, to save money, but maybe we'll go for the porthole room.

Chad (DS19) is back from Washington DC, and of course he loved it. And Jesse (DS13) is back from his day out with friends to the Hard Rock Cafe, the Intrepid Air/Space Museum which is actually an aircraft carrier permanently parked on the East River here in Manhattan, and a ride on the Beast which is a speedboat. It was his friend's birthday, and wow what a day those lucky kids had. Jesse is exhausted, came home soaking wet from the boat ride, and is now snuggled early in bed.

And my birthday is 11/28!!!
Three of us in a row...Tori 28, Grim 29, and me 30. Hey, that's how old I'm going to be this year! :rotfl2:

Not sure what the nephews are wearing. I would love to see them in jackets and ties, but not sure I'll get that.

However, I know you didn't ask, but DD (Kayla) will be wearing a few fancy dresses on this cruise. My mom made her last 2 prom dresses - one is a red satin halter with gold trim with long red gloves to match, she is probably wearing this on Christmas. The other is a gorgeous royal blue satin off the shoulder with a glittery netting over the skirt with long gold gloves for the semi-formal. She refers to it as her Sleeping Beauty (her favorite) dress. She is wearing a green with a black lace overlay strapless with long black gloves on Christmas Eve. And finally on some other night she is wearing a champange vintage lacey dress. She loves to dress up!

We are very into community theater and 'costuming' is every thing. Still working on pirate night, but so far I think DH (Dom) and I will be dressed as the Governer and his wife. Kind of a tribute to Pirates of the Caribbean

I think it's a geat idea. It'll make Pirate Night seem more "authentic", with a variety of characters. Do you have any photos to share?? We'd love to see them! :sunny:

Today a strange thing happened at work. A woman I rarely speak to (in another department) and I started takling, and she said she was going on thr repo cruise. I got all excited, thinking she was a Diser, but she never even heard of the Dis! I was shocked! Then I felt sorry for her, thinking of all the valuable information she was missing out on. I told her about the Dis, but, even though she said she's Disney fanatic, she said "eh". She said she calls CRO when she's depressed, just to talk Disney! That poor, deprived woman, with no Dis in her life. Oh well, I tried!

Is there a pirate night? If there is then I have a costume from halloween that I can wear! I don't know if it will be too over the top!?

I was looking at pictures of other Disboardsers and one picture was the room of theirs and they had it decorated but on it they also had a sheet of paper printed out that had all of the DIS Meets...I think that is a cool idea for someone or everyone to put on their door!

Tori, I think you should wear your costume, it won't be over the top! My son, who is your age, is dressing up as Jack Sparrow from the POTC movie. I'm dressing up, too. I'll try to find the pic of my outfit to post. I'll be right back.

That sounds like a good idea...I can't wait til then!!! I got the pirate costume outfit last halloween....and it still fits I just hope I don't grow too much by the time the cruise comes!!

I don't know how to post pictures???...do you need something special?:confused3 I can't wait til the cruise now!!! It seems like time is flying right now but I think its because school is almost about to start and it's my 8th grade year..What stinks though is that once school starts it will take FOREVER for the cruise to get here! But once the cruise comes and we are on our way there it will go by so fast you won't remember why you only booked one cruise and not 2 back to back!! hehehe My brother has been telling my parents that we should do that but my parents don't know if they would want to do that...they aren't even sure if they wanna take a 10 day cruise!! When they love it so much they think they might not be able to handle it!!! I think I could handle it no matter what:goodvibes ...well I am going to cool off and hang with my parents downstairs...I juts got back from about a 30 minute walk in this 100 degree humidity with my mom!!:headache: :hyper: :cool1:

Karen Thanks for the ideas, (I forgot to tell you that the other day, oops) gold coins nice....(& easy to get) cheese from around the world...gouda (pun inteaded)

Aisling: What is CRO??? I showed my friend, brownie co-leader the DIS site....she lovedddddd it. She and her DD(8) are on CA Disney Magic as we speak. Molly & I sent them the choc strawberries and sparkling cider as a send off...I can't wait to hear how it was presented.

I'm wiped out, off to bed early tonight....

oh ya, almost forgot, talked to Tigg today....she sounded GREAT!!!! so relaxed...2 weeks on the beach...I think I have to look into that idea for next summer maybe.

ahhhhhh, nite nite,

Nan

Hey everyone!! Hows your day so far?? I am thinking about heading out to the county fair...but i don't know about it in this heat??

Well, I just finished reading page 25 which brings me to last January. Think I'll have all of the posts read before we leave??

To catch up, thanks for the info about the Church services aboard. DM was really wanting to know and no one answered me when I post a thread on the cruise board.

Sorry Ginny can't make it. Would someone be able to send me her spreadsheet. I am all for being organized!!!

Nan: You are welcomed. Too bad I don't live close or I'd come and cater it for you!!

Aisling: Here are two pictures, as requested, of our costumes. Please keep in mind these are pictures from childrens shows we have done! It is the fourth picture down. DH (Dom) is in the white wig. He was Squire Trelawny when we did "Treasure Island". DD (Kayla) is in the barrel!

I am the short (and large) one in the second picture with my mouth wide open. There is also another picture further down the page with my "lovely" daughters!! I was the stepmother in Cinderella. I always play the nasty one. Some will tell you I'm type cast. (Actually they are the best parts to play!)

Jill and Colleen: I looked at a deck plan and we are almost directly across the hall from each other! We are in 6116.

Is it December yet???

:confused3 Why is the board so slow:bored:?! There has been like noone posting anything new!! It seems kind of dull right now:sad1:...I think it might be of the middle of the week though...I hope things start kikin up as we get closer!!!:cool1: :boat:

Why is the board so slow
I keep getting booted ever since I got a wireless router for my laptop. Very annoying to write a long post, and then poof, I get kicked off online. So here I go again!

Nan, CRO is Disney's Central Reservations Office. It's where you can book ressies using codes, and forego the middleman. There are tons of posts on the resorts boards about CRO, and I just know that I've saved thousands of $$$ using codes and calling CRO directly. I've never paid rack rate for any of the WDW hotels on any of our trips.

Karen, thanks for posting the photos. You were right about costumes being very important...your productions looked like you put a lot of work in the costumes. Very cool. And it's a family affair, which makes it even more interesting. I can't wait to meet your family, and all our Dis gang.
Do you have late seating for dinner? We do,and we're hoping for PLA rotation, to have Formal night in Lumiere and Pirate Night in Parrot Cay. I ven called Costco (my TA), to request it. No guarantees, but it can't hurt to ask, and beg, a little! :rotfl:

I was wondering...when we depart from the port on Dec. 23rd, will it be dark out? I know here in NYC it's dark at 5:30 pm at that time of year, and wondering about FLA. I'm assuming it's the same, since we're on tha same time zone. I just think it would be really cool to leave port for the open sea when the sun is going down.

So, has anyone done anything cruise-relates lately??

Thanks. My mom makes all of our costumes. She is quite the seamstress!

We have the early seating. It's what my mom wanted and since she is paying for the trip ... I actually prefer early seating. We did it on our first cruise. I like seeing the shows after dinner. We are hoping for LAP. Again, it's what we had last time.
