Christmas all year long!

Glad to hear Zoe is making good progress! What a blessing and relief that must be! She is such an incredible little girl to go through this!!! I so hope you have a say in when she goes home...I too vote for later rather than sooner ( although home sounds appealing)... Never any fun to go home, not be 100% and go back!

So yesterday, the pt came by. I can't remember if mentioned that a special plan had to be made in oder for zoe to leave her room, but with this in place we could take her out. Strange though... I have to suit up when with her when out and about and we can not go to any shared areas of the hospital, like the family lounge. I can go without her and without gloves.. But with her Ihave to be in gown nd gloves. Weird. Anyway, Zoe fussed and cried about being scared to get up. My bed was still out a few feet away from hers when we coaxed her out. The stinker made a beeline for my bed and upon collapsing on it noted it wasn't so bad. With that the pt took her into the hall. At first she did the classic" first steps" motion on the toes. Pt was surprised to see her come off of her toes so quickly. Hover, she did and it was not long erode he wanted to take. Long walk.

Night time got tricky. She is now down to only one tube which is draining. The other two re capped. Between 10 and 11pm, she frantically started to scream about how she needed to pee. Technically it was not time to irrigate he caths...so the nure instead he get. Hold of the doc. Do I'd to go ahead and fluh th onesie that appeared to not be draining. It gave her brief relief..but by midnight she was violently thrashing about and screaming. Nurse again did not want to work ouside written orders...so we waited this time for the pediatrician to get ahold of the on call urn doc. Urn doc said ( verbally) to irrigated as needed. This was at 3 am. She got a bit better relief..but by 6 am same thing was happening and the sp tube wasn't draining anything. Zoe was really un happy...and...since no written orders were in place... The nurse again made us wait. This time the drawback on the flush produced a large plug...which appears to have remained clear today.

The other thing last night was that her iv went bad and her arm ballooned up like the throat of. Bullfrog. She had to get a new iv...and we had to watch her arm

All in all a horrid night:sad2:

Hugs to both you and Zoe ... What an awful night, praying tonight will be perfect

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Oh Ann, wow, what a few days!! Ive been so out of touch the last few days with work, the holiday and family stuff.

Poor baby!!! I am very glad Zoe is doing better now, the first day or so sounded horrid!! for both her and you. I hope they get the drain issue under control and she is able to go home and finish the recovery there, of course, without having to go back. I hope you are able to get some rest soon. saying some extra prayers for you and Zoe:grouphug::grouphug:

Ann, I'm so sorry Zoe had such a horrid night. I hope it is better tonight and tomorrow for her. I don't know how you are keeping it all together.

Sorry to hear about Zoe's setbacks! But glad that she was up and about earlier. How is she doing, now?

This should be my last update from the hospital:woohoo::dance3::woohoo: it looks like she will go home this afternoon. I am not certain of the time. I know that she still has a 4pm dose of iv meds... But they are thinking we can skip it :confused: if they let us then we might be out sooner... If not then after that dose. Zoe had an excellent night. I woke to her climbing into to bed with me and snuggling :goodvibes. Then the team came and they took out one more of the tubes. She will go home with just two...so that is good. Also...we can start to cap them off for periods of the day so she can lose the drainage bags to go out and play a bit :woohoo: we do have an appointment today with a wound care specialist before we can go home. See... One of the uro team..a fellow or intern.. Or something... Well, she wasn't so gental in taking off some tagderm a few days ago and literally ripped off a large area of skin on zoos tummy:headache: so Now it is super painful..so we get to have that looked at.

Next update will be from home..where I will have a computer and not have to they and post with something that is constantly autocorrectting what I type! Ferret

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Zoe and Ann are going home! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I think she (and YOU) will feel much better being in your own place. Give her a special hug for us and here's to continued progress in getting better. :thumbsup2

:cool1::yay::cool1::yay:

Sorry about her tummy, though! So happy you are getting 'one more thing' finished/accomplished/behind you!

Hope the discharge today is 'pain' free! :goodvibes

WE ARE HOME!!!!!

The ride was a bit complicated by the need to uncap a tube once an hour... but... we made it safe and sound and are happy to be home.

Sadly.. now I have to get to work. Luckily it will not be a hard week. I will get everything done for work tonight and tomorrow....

Ann, glad you are home safe and sound. :thumbsup2

Talked to Kira on her TR so knew you were on the way. Hopefully, both you and Zoe will have a nice, peaceful sleep tonight.

:sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

We are headed back to the hospital. Zoe spiked a fever of over 102over night. I thought she seemed a bit warm before we left and my nose suggested an infection was possibly brewing.

Aside from the obvious.... worry over Zoe...wanting to make sure she is fine. This sucks because I stayed up late thinking I would be able to sleep in for the first time in a week (and by in I mean past 6am) It also sucks cause it is going to take us about 2 hours to get back up there.

:sad2:

So, so, so sorry Ann... a million of these :hug: just aren't enough... praying it all works out for you both today. :grouphug:

Oh, Ann. I am so sorry. I was so hoping you would have an uneventful night sleeping in your own beds, etc. I hope this is nothing serious and they don't end up putting her back in the hospital (perhaps just an antibiotic?). You are in our thoughts and prayers. Safe travels.

Sorry, I haven't been posting in a while, and am very sorry you are back to the hospital!
Lots of :hug: and prayers for you all! Hope she gets better REAL soon!

So... Gonna warn ya...this is about to be a pity party.

Zoe is being admitted ( we are told) for at least 2 day but up to 14.

This will set her recovery back. She can not start to cap the tubes until the infection is cleared. Once the tubes start to be capped...another 3 weeks till she can get them out.

I feel on the verge of a breakdown.... I seriously just want to cry. I don't have the energy to get in to all the details.

I know I am subbed to slot of your threads... I have been trying to keep up... But I am just not sure I can at this point. Will you all forgive me if I kinda take a break? I might not need to, but right now... I am so tired... Just posting is a drain for me. Sheesh...that sounds a bit pathetic ( I did warn you I was going to wallow a bit)

I will let you all know how it goes. Thank you all so much for being so supportive. It has really helped this last week!:hug:

Ann, don't you dare worry about us or threads you are subscribed to. You just take care of yourself and getting Zoe well. I'm so sorry that she is going to have another extended hospital stay. But the important thing is getting her better. We are here when you need us, but understand if you need to stay away. :hug:
