Christmas 2014 Gift Ideas

Is it bad that mine are done, just waiting to address them to make sure there are no changes in families... ;)

Good job, one thing of the holidays to do list. :goodvibes

That is a very cute idea!!!

2 years ago I did a match game with pictures of our family from our 4th of july campout for my cousins young daughter. They live 18 hours away and only see each other cor that one week a year. I didnt want her to forget us and all the cool stuff we did. So I uploaded them to artscow and used the deck of card. I put each picture in twice so her mom could use 10 sets or all of them and then when she got older she could play go fish, spoons or reg cards with them.

Is it sad I worked on my Christmas cards tonight? :rotfl2:

I just never get a chance to do them come December - the last two years I never sent any out because things were just so busy I couldn't find the time to do them. So I figured I'd get them out of the way now, and all I'll have to do once the proper time is here is write notes in a select few, then stamp them all and send them out!

Of course, they are budget Christmas cards :thumbsup2 I bought the cards at 75% off during the Target after Christmas sale, and got 50 copies of a photo of DD14 from our summer vacation to put in them from Shutterfly for free with a coupon code I found last week - shipping was even free.

I have last year"s cards...I filled them out, but somehow they never got sent or hand delivered. :confused3 Now I am tying to figure out who DID receive a card.

Thinking I will just sticker and stamp some blanks for the family members and the others...well, sorry if you get the same card as the last couple of years. I buy them on discount also.

Btw, when it comes to shipping things, the UPS store reminded me to use my AAA card. They give 5% off the shipping cost.

I think this is wonderful idea! I have to check out this artscow site.

Just bought my first present today. My husband is a pain to buy for so I preordered The Goldberg's Season 1 from Amazon for $20. I thought that was a pretty good deal and it's his favorite show.

Got the kids an xbox 360 with Kinect with 10 unopened games from a friend at her garage sale for $130. So now I will just have to do the smaller gifts for them.

I found a website that has all tips for how to wrap and store our fudge. Interesting...I thought I was doing something wrong by placing it in the freezer. Ok, I admit, I was hiding it. I had also been told not to put it in the fridge, ever because it would make it grainy.

There are so many recipes for fudge out there. Pillsbury has one that includes cookie dough. McCormick has one that is cream cheese and chocolate chips. :confused3

I just got some cute Disney stockings and tree skirt at Kmart.com and used their online layaway; just to try it. It was simple and they ship it to you as soon as it paid off. Toysrus.com is doing something similar!

If you do Ebates, Magazines.com gives 26% back and you can find good deals there. I've ordered from Magazines.com before and it is reputable.
Plus, I like to give magazine subscriptions as gifts, it gives the person something all year long! Good Housekeeping, Time, Popular Mechanics, People, Field and Stream, etc.

Great gift for out-of-town family members too since there is nothing you have to try to ship and you can schedule an e-card to be delivered to them with a personalized message.

Don't know if it's too early...I searched and didn't find a thread already started. If there is one, please add the link here so we don't have multiples. TIA I have begun my shopping list. Please chime in with ideas that you have for gifts. Let's make this a fun, budget friendly idea list. I have on the list for 2 year old girl: book I am a Rainbow along with watercolor paints, paint paper and colorful table cloth (for protecting area). DS3 will receive a budget buster, but I found free shipping and the coupons are pretty good. Fisher Price Day at Disney playset. Tins full of cookies for the college boy. He will be traveling for Christmas. Homemade fudge. Need good recipes. DD16 is cooking this. Only 20 more people on my list to go...

When my girls were that young they used to LOVE dress up. I used to buy costumes dirt-cheap after Halloween at places like Jo-Ann's and Party City. I was able to get 4-5 costumes for about $30, if I recall.

For an easy fudge recipe, I've made this one before. it was pretty good, plus super easy: http://www.food.com/recipe/easy-microwave-fudge-48056

To spread out the cost of Christmas for DD, who we are totally spoiling...we are basically putting everything on layaway. We already have one going at Walmart, we will start one at Kmart in a week or so, then another at Toys R Us. This way, come Christmas, its all paid for. We also are planning to take advantage of Black Friday this year for her.

Everyone else, we usually give a box of homemade cookies.

I have family calendars made on Snapfish for my parents and inlaws every year. They say they love those.

Snapfish usually has a BOGO sale in December.

all the nieces/cousins and Disney watches for the nephews/cousins. I happened to get a great deal several times at CVS and got $10 sets for $5!!! I hope to do something similar this year. I have been thinking about doing a movie theme this year and getting movie tickets, but so far the cheapest I have found any are $7.50-$8.00/each.

I have bought a few things so far. DH and I don't have kids, but we do have a lot of siblings that we exchange gifts with, so I still have to start early if I don't want to go into debt in December.

So last year I got some great ideas for gifts for my teenage daughter from a similar thread! I need unique ideas again! She's 17. What are YOU getting for a teenage girl??

My dd is 17 also and so far the ideas I have are:

Jamberry nail wraps
LeSportsac Minnie bag
the new One Direction perfume

For DS 24 and his girl friend. A national parks pass to make their camping and hiking more affordable. I know it will be the right size!

Dd18 is going on a training trip over Christmas and we will pay a lot of that

JamBerry released their fall/winter catalog. My DD (11) loves them, so I imagine I'll pick up a few new ones. I'd like to get her holiday ones, but would have to give to her in her Advent Calendar so she can wear in December.

Haha! Do we have the same daughter?! Mine loves One Direction too. I have a friend who is just starting to sell Jamberry. Great idea!!

I also think she would like a box set of John Green books.

Hi there! It's only September but I've already started buying gifts for family. Look what I got for my little niece from www.jeezdesign.com. It's sooo cute, isn't it?:)

I mentioned this on the other thread, but I'll throw it in here too.

Last year, I contacted a local beauty school, and put together a makeup application class. Three of my friends at work joined in, and we each gave our 13- and 14- year old daughters a laminated certificate for the class. (The school charged us $15 for each girl, so we let each bring a friend.)

This year, we're doing cupcake decorating. It's more expensive-- $50 per person for a 2 hour class-- so the friends are out.

A little time on google is a wonderful thing!

I may hit Michaels and get each of them an icing bag and some tips.
