Don't know if it's too early...I searched and didn't find a thread already started. If there is one, please add the link here so we don't have multiples. TIA

I have begun my shopping list. Please chime in with ideas that you have for gifts. Let's make this a fun, budget friendly idea list.

I have on the list for 2 year old girl: book I am a Rainbow along with watercolor paints, paint paper and colorful table cloth (for protecting area).

DS3 will receive a budget buster, but I found free shipping and the coupons are pretty good. Fisher Price Day at Disney playset.

Tins full of cookies for the college boy. He will be traveling for Christmas.

Homemade fudge. Need good recipes. DD16 is cooking this.

Only 20 more people on my list to go...

Yeah finally the
Budget board's Offical Christmas Thread has started
:santa::santa::santa::santa:

This year I am cutting my costs by 1/2.
I have told the sons and daughter inlaw and 1 grand-daughter that there will be no more paying off christmas 4-5 months into the New Year.

So this year I am filling brown pillow cases with stocking stuffers and tying the top with gingerbread men organza ribbon. No large gifts this year.

I bought some bankers boxes at the beginning of the summer (dollar store) and have slowly been filling them up with things I see on sale.
To be honest this is working out so well that over the past few months I've nearly filled the boxes.

example of boxes I am using

I have made some "Chill Pill" (Olaf) tic tac gifts for multiple people at work-just before Christmas I will head to Costco and get some Tic Tacs.

here what they look like

I'll have to update my stocking stuffer list and post what I've bought so far.

I am looking for some easy to make fudge recipes, and some ideas how to package the fudge for gift giving.
How long does fudge last? Do I store it in the refrigerator?

I bought a bunch of these because Walmart had them on sale for $4.57. and I figured I could just add some hot chocolate or soup package and ribbon. The other stores around me have these mugs going for $12.00 or more,
so I think I got a great deal.

My Three Sons Stocking Stuffer List
all are over the age of 21

This is what I've bought so far for my three sons.

Oops. Just saw there is another official one.

That's ok
I think I'd prefer a Budget Board Christmas List as
I'm looking to keep my spending inline and maybe some ideas for homemade gifts.
I always find lots of ideas "Budget Friendly" on this forum.

Last year I took some extra Canning Jars I had and filled them up with
dollar store pedicure items and then tied a pretty bow around them.
The cotton balls look like snow at the bottom of the jar.

I've been off for the summer and am awaiting my for my paperwork to process through on my federal job offer:cool1:. I've managed to get a lot of my Xmas shopping done but I always am looking for new ideas! BRING THEM ON!

I've got probably 60-70% of my shopping done already - I start the day after the previous Christmas, and just pick things up as I see really good deals.

What I have/am planning to get for DD14:
- Smart phone: I haven't gotten this yet but I've researched phones and have settled on either a Galaxy Avant or Moto G LTE - now I'm just watching for a good deal to come up. I'm also waiting for the announcement on the new Moto G coming tomorrow, to see what it retails for - and for whether or not the old Moto G becomes cheaper all of a sudden because of it. DD has a "dumb phone" right now and has been whining for years about it. I figure it's time to finally upgrade her. This will be the big gift.
- A sweater I picked up at Kohls on clearance for a couple of bucks. Gotta love the summer sweater sales!
- An AE sweatshirt. Off-season clearance again.
- A couple of kimonos (not authentic ones, the sort of jacket ones that are in style right now): She's been going on and on about wanting some, so I picked up a couple as they've been on sale.
- Vera Bradley mini hipster. She saw the ones at Disney last week, and immediately wanted one. I got a non-Disney one for $22.50 this past weekend.
- The book "Penny Chic: How to be Stylish on a Real Girl's Budget" that was just released. Found the cheapest price at Walmart and preordered it to get free shipping.
- A lighted makeup mirror I found on sale
- A bunch of Julip nailpolish I picked up for a few bucks each since the colors were discontinued. She's a nailpolish junkie.
- A cosmetic bag she really wants that I picked up on clearance at Target
- A "scratch off wall map" that I got on eBay. You scratch off the countries/areas of the world that you visited. It was just $8 I think, but I suspect it will be a hit for years to come. I'm thinking of also picking these up for my nephews...
- For stocking stuffers for her, I've picked up a few fashion scarves and iPod touch cases as I've found them on clearance so far. I usually have no specific plan for stocking stuffers, just grab stuff as it hits my fancy.

For my mother, I ordered a woven photo blanket off of Shutterfly last weekend, when they had 40% off and free shipping. I also got 50 free pictures for my Christmas cards at the same time ;)

For some other preteen/early teen boys I need to buy for, I ordered these key chain watches at Artscow: http://www.artscow.com/photo-gifts/watch/key-chain-watch-176 (you can google to find a coupon code that gets you one for $3.99 w/free shipping right now - additional are $6.99 each). I personalized them with a plaid background, and their first initial in the center in a large, thick black font. I plan to tie them to large Hershey bars with a note that says "Wishing you a Sweet Time on this Christmas Day!".

I still have to figure out something for my nephews (14 and 17), a sibling (we draw names closer to Christmas) and a few other miscellaneous people. I like to be done with my shopping by Black Friday, so that I can spend my time enjoying fun Christmas activities instead of fighting traffic and crowds at the mall or stressing over whether or not the item will ship in time!

Going to keep that in mind for my DD's to give their friends. I think that's super cute!

Great idea!! Can you list the items in the jar?

My parents are buying my ds2 the Day at Disney set. So I will be getting him and dd4 the sets that go with it. I was trying to figure out how to get it all without spending all the money.
We have a case of too much stuff. With 4 kids it all adds up quickly. Trying to think of ideas they will enjoy and use that won't take all of our space. Dd10 will get the first few seasons of Full House. She loves the show but likes when both Michelle and Stephanie are young and cute:) I have started watching some ebay auctions hoping to find good deals for American Girl dolls for dd7. They will both get plenty of books. I also got a great deal in dress up clothes at a garage sale that will fit dd4.

I just looked at theses and they are so cool! All the older kids are big into traveling and have been in Europe, Russia and all over the US. I think I might get one for each!

Last year I made photo coasters for Christmas gifts. They were a big hit. This year I hope to make a memory game for the two year old, I want to put pictures of family members on 2" x 2" squares. Each person will have two pictures and she has to match them. Just waiting for family members from outside the area to send me their pictures.

I don't know what I will do this year. We are going on vacation out of state so we will be spending Christmas in a timeshare. We are traveling with another family in one big car so cant take a lot. The other family is doing Christmas with the rest of their family the weekend before we leave so I guess they weren't planning on doing xmas on xmas. They have a small kid5 and said she wont noticed the difference. I told her well DD15 and I was planning on having her open a few small things since space is limited and I was also planning on taking her child a few lil things to and have stocking for both kids but as far as us adult not to worry about exchanging gifts.

Our tradition is we open gifts on mas eve with Dh family and on xmas morning Dh and I watch and video tape dd open up her gifts by the tree so I was thinking of taking our 2 ft tree .

I figure I'd get both kids
-$20 Itune for DD
-chaps sticks
-Iphone cover (She's getting one Nov, I was gonna wait but she wants to do shopkicks to earn giftcards before our trip)
-fuzzy socks
-mints, chips,snacks
-I have no more ideas until I see stuff

the other child
-$10 giftcard
-puzzle
-fuzzy socks
-gloves
-coloring book and crayons
-snacks
-hair thingys
-not sure what else

Is it sad I worked on my Christmas cards tonight? :rotfl2:

I just never get a chance to do them come December - the last two years I never sent any out because things were just so busy I couldn't find the time to do them. So I figured I'd get them out of the way now, and all I'll have to do once the proper time is here is write notes in a select few, then stamp them all and send them out!

Of course, they are budget Christmas cards :thumbsup2 I bought the cards at 75% off during the Target after Christmas sale, and got 50 copies of a photo of DD14 from our summer vacation to put in them from Shutterfly for free with a coupon code I found last week - shipping was even free.
