Christmas 2011 shopping

Im ususally done by Sept/Oct - but haven't started - although for the my kids, we are doing Disney - So I don't ahve to buy much! :) just have to remember that! they usually have to much, so Im looking for Dis-igns so that I can wrap some things :)

Both my kids are wanting the Nintendo 3D for their big gift this year. I know the price just came down a lot. Does anyone know if there are or will be some good bundle deals or new colors coming out between now and Christmas? DS said something about themed ones maybe. I'm trying to decide whether to go ahead and buy now or wait a little longer. TIA:)

They are coming out with a red one in a couple weeks. I'm not sure if they will come out with a themed one but there are usually bundle deals for Black Friday. I assume that they will have one for the 3DS this year since it will be the first Holiday season it is being sold. TRU had a buy 1 get one 1/2 sale on games last week so you will be able to find deals on games now.
I was lucky enough to find a deal that let me use a coupon so I grabbed one for my ds. Now my other ds says he wants one so I think I'm going to wait to see what happens around BF.

have to say we're doing a kranks christmas :)

We are going to do that when the kids get a little older. You can only have so much stuff.

I was able to pick up my dd a digging set at Kohls for $3. It has a little shovel and rake in a dalmation bag. She loves dogs and digging for bugs and worms so this was perfect.

I also got her some great "Easter" gifts from the Justice Clearance. I know I am crazy, but I got her a t-shirt, 3 paris of shorts, bathing suit, cover up, and pool shoes and I spent $25. I don't feel right giving these to her in Dec as she can't wear them but I thought they would be great to put in her Easter Basket.

I think I am about done with DD I just need to get her a bike and DS Game system and a few games. I might just go ahead and get her a new bike now though because she really needs one as well as DS12.

I don't have to buy ANY presents this year! We are taking the money and going to Disney :rotfl:

Might feel weird!

We're doing one present for each kid and then a big trip to WDW!!! I love when we do that! Plus we don't need all the extra stuff around the house either.

That being said, I was looking online pricing out DD's dollhouse for CHristmas, just have to wait for a good deal to pop up! And DS is getting a Mickey Mouse chair! Plus a few Santa presents in the stocking, but that is all we're buying.

DS wants an iPod Touch. Is the 8gb big enough or should I get 32 gb? Also someone mentioned they are coming out with new one in Oct. Does anyone know what the difference will be in the new one vs one currently available? I bought him an iPod for chrstimas last year (the chepest one) and I use it more then he does because it only plays music. He really wants one that does games, movies, and music so I thought Touch would be best option. He has a DS but it is starting to wear out (he has had it for over 3 years) and said he doesn't want another one.

My dd has a 8GB now and its filled with apps and movies/videos. She can't store any of her itunes music on it but she just uses Pandora when she has wi-fi. I am getting her a new one for Christmas and it will be a 32GB so she has plenty of room on it for everything she wants to do.
I'm waiting for the new ones to be released, and depending on the differences I'll decide whether to get one of those or try to find a discount on the current one. If you search up 5th generation ipod touch you can find alot of rumors about the differences.

I am usually done with Christmas shopping by now for my 5 kids but this year I haven't even started. I've been unemployed for 2 years and just found a teaching job that started 2 weeks ago. That's when we finally booked our first trip so now I'm ready to shop!

I plan on killing 2 birds with 1 stone this Christmas. I'm thinking of buying clothes for the vacation (Disney themed shirts, etc), small luggage sets for the kids, some gift cards for them to buy their own souveniers at Disney... maybe a Flip camera for one of my 9 year olds...

What else??? Help me out friends because I need to get started and finished!!! lol

We are going to WDW in April and I got DD and my nieces some Disney books for Christmas. I pre-ordered the Birnbaum's WDW for kids 2012 (comes out in Sept) and the Hidden Mickeys field guide.

Watch the Disney Store - now is when they have their summer stuff super cheap (and in Central FL it is always summer ;)). Every year I get DD shirts and some other things (depends on what's on sale) so when we go to WDW she does not want everything in World of Disney. So far I got her 2 shirts ($8 ea) and 3 Vinylmations ($5 ea.).

In Walmart they also have Disney stuff. Was not planning on getting DD another shirt but they had a super cute Chip 'n Dale shirt - and those are hard to find!

I am also buying way ahead for our trip in April (Oct trip is all set:thumbsup2) and just got 4 collapsible water bottles for $4 from savemore.com - thanks to another boardie who gave the heads up on this great deal! They give you a $10 credit when you sign up.

Target has a coupon on their website for any version of Guess Who, Connect 4, Battleship or Operation. They are on sale for $12 so $8 with the coupon. Got to the store and saw a sale tag on the shelf that said buy select games (includes the ones on the coupon) and get a free 12" Market Pantry pizza. So for $8 I got the Cars 2 version of Guess Who for my 5 year old and a 12" pizza. Don't know if the MP pizza is good, but with 4 always hungry boys it'll get eaten whether I think it's good or not! :rotfl:

You got a good deal!! And you are so right about the pizza and the boys!! I'm just as bad myself:lmao:

Well, I am pretty far ahead on my list. I am getting ready to go over it tonight to see what else I need to order and I am actually almost completed!
Although the bath and body works that I ordered the other day for my mom I ended up keeping! So I need to wait until theres another buy 3 get 3 free! Then I will get hers

Another board game deal!

Kmart flyer has a pic of Jenga, Cootie, Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Memory, Monopoly & Scrabble Turbo Slam and the caption above it says "$4.99 or less for these games when you double your playsaver coupons at kmart" The playsaver coupons were in one of today's coupon inserts.

I bought Jenga - $12.99 - $4 coupon - $4 coupon doubled = $4.99

and Scrabble Turbo Slam - $14.99 - $5 coupon - $5 coupon doubled = $4.99

I know Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders and Memory were all $9.99 regular price and that coupon was $3 - so $6 off making any of those $3.99. Thinking those might be cheaper close to/on Black Friday - thinking we may have paid $2-3 for those in past years.

The ad also said (in little tiny letters that are getting harder and harder to read...) that you could also get the coupons at playsaver.com ~ I tried to check it just now and the coupons aren't showing for me at all. Not sure if there's an issue there or with my computer.

Okay so I've done a little more. On a whim I bought a RC car for DH. He's a big kid at heart and I think he'll have fun playing with it with DS and the girls. I ordered a mini donut maker for DD12 (my little baker). She diden't ask for it but I think she'll love it. I also got another Kohls $10 gift card in the mail. DD14 has changed her wants and instead of a camera or art supplies is requesting funky feather jewlry and hair pieces, magnetic studs that look like piercings and Selena Gomez Dream Out Loud clothes. I know I'm lucky that the clothes she wants are so inexpensive. I found a cool pair of feather earrings very similar to the ones she showed me online for 40% off and picked up some glitter glue pens for her stocking and spent only 2.48 after the card. Once again I'm thrilled with my deal!

Kohls has some of their college dorm stuff marked way down. A friend gave me $10 in Kohls Cash & tonight I picked up a purple butterfly chair marked down from $70 to $28. With the $10 off it was $18! My DD has wanted one for at least a year & I'm so happy I was able to find one at a great price.

I vowed not to go overboard on Christmas this year....so, I'm trying to stay off this board but it's not working :goodvibes

I know what you mean!! I think I tend to go more overboard by starting shopping so early! I have made a huge dent in my christmas shopping so far! But then keep thinking of other things to get!

Yesterday I took advantage of the an additional 15% off at Michaels along with 40% off coupon and got my DD a few things. She is not a big toy girl but loves crafts so I got her a binder and some puppy folders (she loves dogs) at GE in the school supply clearance section. I then went to Michaels and got American Girl stickers that has dogs to decorate the binder with. She will have fun decorating the binder and then she can put her art work in the folders so they don't get ruined. She also loves to catch and collect bugs and frogs and they had their summer toys marked 60% off so I got her a small bug catching kit for 80 cents. My dd makes me get real creative each year on her gifts. :goodvibes

Now my middle son has me stumped. He wants a guitar and a lego set but I have no clue what else to get him. He has some special challenges and so whatever he gets has to be really sturdy or he breaks it. I won't get him a video game system because he got one and broke it within 3 months. Legos are great because he can't really break them but he has so many of them. He loves hockey so I will be getting him a jersey. I already have a sweatshirt, t-shirt, and hat of his favorite team. I think I will also get him a gift card to skating rink and new skates. I just don't know what else to do for him and it doesn't help his birthday is Dec. 30th.

I think DH and I might just get each other the new iPhone if it comes out soon. We are going to WDW the end of next month. Then I am going again in December. Then we are going to visit friends in CA in January. We are flying in to San Francisco to see the WD Family Museum and do a wine tour then driving down the coat to San Diego for 6 nights. Of course we are stopping in DL for a night:) That will all cost enough!

I offcially started christmas shopping this weekend!! I went to Target and found a pink karoke machine for DD6 clearanced for $30! :woohoo:

I started my shopping too. I took advantage of the buy one get one half off Lego sets at Toys R Us. I was able to get 3 sets for DS, then a set for 4 other kids on my list!

I also picked up some gift cards for my kids for iTunes, and Petco for DD to buy some stuff for her hamster. I still need to get them each a gift card to Barnes & Noble.

I went to Bath & Body Works & bought some teacher gifts. I spent around $50 and got 6 gifts! DD is in middle school and has a lot of teachers to buy for lol.

Still have a lot more shopping to do but it feels great to be getting it done early and a little at a time!

My plan this year is to forgo all the junk and get the family a puppy :dogdance:
