Christian's MAKE A WISH Coming True!!!

We did hear from our MAW friends on Saturday and they told us that Christian has been approved medically so we have been moved up a notch!! Now his wish is in logistics mode, ie. flights and hotel according to the dates we gave them. :dance3: His wish has also been handed over to someone else in the Atlanta office who specializes in this part of the wish.

Last week Christian expressed to me that he wanted to be in one of the parades at the Magic Kingdom! We don't know if this is possible but I passed along this information to our MAW friends. Raylee has been in so many parades for the Angel Ride. He was even the MAKE A WISH representative one year for a local Mardi Gras parade when he was 6. He was the Grand Marshall!! :joker: I guess Christian has always seen this as something really cool and wants to do it too. It would be so great if it could!!:wizard:

I have been on the internet a lot last night and today looking at all of the information on the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the best area to request a room. It looks like we should get one on the Zebra Trail, on the 2nd or 3rd floor about mid way down the hall because of his physical needs and its proximity to everything and best views of the savanna. :beach:

I have also found the Pirate League! Christian would love love love this!! And the Wild Africa Trek!! I'm just not sure that he would be able to walk for 3 hours straight. It might be too much for him. Both of these though are right up his ally!! MY ADVENTURER!!pirate:

Something funny, I asked his yesterday what he was learning about in school and he said they are learning about Africa. How cool is that!! I told him he needed to tell his teacher and classmates about his wish and where we may be staying. He is really shy so he probably wont.

I wonder if because we are staying there and will have tickets to Disney if we could get the free dining plan? Not sure, I will have to ask about that. Probably not because of us getting the tickets through GKTW.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Still no dates yet though.:rolleyes1

my son is turning 7 in june, and we are staying at gktw the only real special thing is a date with daisy duck on sunday morning (he thinks she is beautiful). I didn't find this site till a day ago :-( so am trying now to figure stuff out. Everyone is soooo excited and i really don't have much of a clue of all the stuff that can be done there. The kids really wanna go to see harry potter area, sea world, and other than that not sure what is all available been reading these threads and trying to plan. I am not sure where do i start my thread for our trip.
That is such a fun age to be going to disney! It cracks me up that he thinks daisy is beautiful. That is sooooo sweet. There is so much to do in the orlando area it can become mind boggling. Christian really wants to see harry potter too. I'm sure it will be one of the first things we do. You can choose which thread you want to post to. I put mine in pre trip reports and plans and in disabilities and again in wish trippers unite. Let me know how it goes and keep us posted about the trip!!!! Please hit me up with any questions you have! Take care!!!

Hi! I am reading along on your ptr and have enjoyed seeing the pictures of your boys. Yay for Raylee wanting to have some friends time. It sounds like he is going to have a great time!

Awsome that Christian gets to wake up with the animals at Animal Kingdom Lodge! That sounds great! I "think" you can still visit GKTW and do all the fun things they do there as well.

Just wanted to say hello:)
Hey!! Thanks for reading along!! Yea i think we can go to GKTW too. Every time we have been back to Orlando since Raylee's MAW trip we have gone back there and even had breakfast a couple of times!! We have even tried to find his star again and we still can't find it!:sad2:

Hey friends!! We heard from our MAW friends day before yesterday! The girl called saying that we could go as soon as May 14th!!! or May 28th!!! What!!!!! She said that the cottages at GKTW were filling up for May quickly but she may be able to get us in! I reminded her that he is wanting to stay at AKL and she said that negated the whole conversation. She totally knew that he wanted to stay at AKL but forgot for the moment. So she freaked me out for no reason!!! HaHa!! She did finally say that we could pick 3 dates that would work for us and she would see if she could make one of them work. We are thinking that the best month for us would be September. All of our birthdays except for Raylee's are in September. The weather and crowds should be o.k. (we live in hurricane central too so we know that the chances of a hurricane ruining our trip are pretty slim). The other two dates would be in July or November. Christian really wants to go to Blizzard Beach and see Mickey's NSSH Party, so we think September would be ideal. :cool2:

The reason I didn't post yesterday was because Christian had a migraine. It was a very bad one and He slept from 4:30 in the afternoon until 8 this morning. He has been having them for the past few months. He will have about one every week or so. The doctors have not done a ct scan or anything they just say that he has classic migraines and if he starts having them more frequently that they will put him on some kind of medication. His great grandmother and grandmother have them so I guess it's hereditary. We are going to see the doctor today at 3 to see what the deal is and how we can treat it. We really hate that he has to go through these along with the everyday trials of his muscular dystrophy. it just doesn't seem fair. He was playing with his friend yesterday and had to come home because his head was hurting. He fell asleep in my lap within 15 minutes of walking through the door.

Maybe while we are at the doctor I will have the chance to post some more pictures of christian throughout the years. He also wants me to post some pictures of our animals! HEHE!! this should be fun. Wish him luck at the doctor. :littleangel:

Love that you are staying at AKL. We love it there though we prefer Kidani.

So glad Christian got his wish! I hope you all have a great time! You have some wonderful kids!! May God bless you and your family!

Well, here is the news we got from the doctor. She says that he needs an MRI of his head to determine that they really are migraines and not something else more severe. She says he will need to be sedated because the procedure is a little scary for children. With Christian having muscular dystrophy the doctors usually advise for them not to be sedated unless absolutely necessary. I called our neurologist who is in Columbus, Ohio to get his opinion. We are waiting for his response and now it is the weekend. Of course:sad2: For the mean time the doctor has me writing things that may set off his migraines like time of day, food, tiredness etc… If the doctor in Columbus says for us to go ahead with it, it should be sometime next week at the children's hospital in Mobile.

Like we needed something else to worry about.:headache:

Congrats on the wish!!:cool1::cool1:

Have a great weekend!

I'm so glad I found your thread, and I'm so happy that you got your Wish trip for Christian! My DNephew15, has Duchenne MD, so we are very familiar with your journey. Your postive spirit and love for your sons shines through your writing and your boys are so precious!
My friends and family did the Run For Your Sons fundraiser with Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy at the WDW Marathon Weekend last January~ It was so amazing to come together with Duchenne families from all over the US for the weekend. Our team raised over $10,000 for PPMD. We will be doing it again this coming January.
The Angel Ride organization looks amazing! It's amazing what people can do when they come together.

I will be following your MAW trip report for Christian very carefully and eagerly waiting!

I will send you a PM soon too~

Praying the MRI is easy and doesn't show anything more than Migraines. They are enough of a bear to deal with!:hug::hug:

I love this! I actually get to talk to people that understand. That is great what you did for PPMD. We raise so much money for Angel Ride that I hate hitting people up to give to MDA and other organizations where the proceeds would go directly to duchenne families. I am so glad to see what ya'll are doing!:woohoo: Maybe one day we will be able to come!!!!:rotfl:

Thank you for your kind words. It really lifts my spirits when someone speaks from their heart.

Did he ever get a MAW trip? Please pm me!!
