Why Me - Kris Kristofferson

Why me Lord what have I ever done
to deserve even one of the pleasures I've known
Tell me, Lord, what did I ever do
that was worth lovin' you or the kindness you've shown

Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
help me Jesus I know what I am
but now that I know that I've needed you so
help me, Jesus, my soul's in your hand

Try me, Lord, if you think there's a way
I can try to repay all I've taken from you
maybe Lord I can show someone else
what I've been through myself, on my way back to you

Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
help me Jesus I know what I am
but now that I know that I've needed you so
help me, Jesus, my soul's in your hand

Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
help me Jesus I know what I am
but now that I know that I've needed you so
help me Jesus my souls in your hand
Jesus, my soul's in your hand.

Our pastor spoke on being thankful yesterday and this passage really touched me.

Psalms 145 - I will extol You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. And His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise your works to another And shall declare Your mighty acts. I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts. And I will declare Your greatness. And shall sing of Your righteousness.

I want to commit to give thanks and praise to the Lord every day, not just in good times but for the trials in life as well.

BLESSED BY YOUR NAME - NEWSONG
Blessed be Your name
In a land that is plentiful
where the streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in
Lord still I will say

CHORUS:
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Blessed be Your name

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We had a good trip, made it back home late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Pastors sermon was good Sunday morning, made me stop and think about a lot of things......what does my life say about me? Am I just going through the motions, saying the things that need to be said of do I really care about others? God also was dealing with me on the drive home about some things in my life, nothing really bad, but sin is sin and there are some things I've been harbouring such as bitterness and anger toward someone else that I really needed to deal with and let go of. I just love the following song by Rush of Fools.

Undo - Rush of Fools
I've been here before, now here I am again
Standing at the door, praying You'll let me back in
To label me a prodigal would be
Only scratching the surface of who I've been known to be

Chorus:
Turn me around pick me up
Undo what I've become
Bring me back to the place
Of forgiveness and grace
I need You, need Your help
I can't do this myself
You're the only one who can undo
What I've become

I focused on the score, but I could never win
Trying to ignore, a life of hiding my sin
To label me a hypocrite would be
Only scratching the surface of who I've been known to be

Chorus

Make every step lead me back to
The sovereign way that You

Chorus

Hi I am wondering if someone here can help me out. I am not into contemporary/pop Christian music but I do love traditional hymns - with a big chorus and organ. Can anyone recommend a good CD , or perhaps a site I can download from? Thanks :)

[Verse]
What do you do
When you've done all you can
And it seems like it's never enough?
And what do you say
When your friends turn away,
And you're all alone?
Tell me, what do you give
When you've given your all,
And it seems like
You can't make it through?

[Hook 1]
Well you just stand
When there's nothing left to do
You just stand
Watch the Lord see you through
Yes after you done all you can,
You just stand

[Verse 2]
Tell me,
How do you handle the guilt of your past?
Tell me, how do you deal with the shame?
And how can you smile
While your heart has been broken
And filled with pain?
Tell me what do you give
When you've given your all
Seems like you can't make it through?

[Hook 2]
Child you just stand,
When there's nothing left to do
You just stand
Watch the Lord see you through
Yes, after you've done all you can
You just stand.

[Hook 3]
Stand and be sure
Be not entangled in that bondage again
You just stand, and endure.
God has a purpose.
Yes, God has a plan.

[Verse 3]
Tell me what do you do
When you've done all you can
And it seems like you can't make it through
Child you just stand
You just stand
Stand ( 2x's)
Don't you dare give up (You Just)
Through the storm (Stand), Stand through the rain (Stand)
Through the hurt (Stand), jet through the pain (You just)
Don't you bow (stand), and don't bend (Stand)
Don't give up (Stand) , no, don't give in (You just)
Hold on, (Stand) just be strong (Stand)
God will step in (Stand), and it won't be long (You just)

[Last Hook]
After you done all you can (After you done all you can)
After you done all you can (After you done all you can)
After you gone through the hurt (After you done all you can)
After you gone through the pain (After the yo done all you can)
After you gone through the storm (After you done all you can)
After you gone through the rain (After you done all you can)

Prayed and cried (2x's) (After you done all you can) Prayed and you've cry(After you done all you can) Prayed and cry

After you done all you can you just stand

AS LONG AS I HAVE YOU -- by Mark Roach

Though I'm walking through
this valley, Lord, the truth is
I know You're walking through this, too.
So I press on fearing nothing,
Keep my mind on one thing,
For You this is nothing new.

And all along You comfort me and
A sense of peace comes over me and
You show me how to rest and trust in You

[CHORUS]
Let the walls around me crumble
Let the wind and rain come through
I can face it all as long as I have You
Let the earth beneath me tremble
Let the enemy pursue
I can face it all as long as I have You
As long as I have You

You renew restore me,
Make my paths straight for me,
Set a feast before me, too.
My cup is overflowing
Lord, You keep on showing
All that comes from knowing You.

And all along You comfort me and
A sense of peace comes over me and
You show me how to rest and trust in You

[CHORUS]
Let the walls around me crumble
Let the wind and rain come through
I can face it all as long as I have You
Let the earth beneath me tremble
Let the enemy pursue
I can face it all as long as I have You
As long as I have You

:) Hi Everyone! This song always brings tears to my eyes and makes me want to hold my kids close.....they are growing up so fast.

Mark Harris - Find Your Wings

It's only for a moment
That you are mine to hold
The plans that heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold
So many different prayers I'll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I'll want to know
You're walking in the truth

And if I've never told you
I want you to know that
As I watch you grow
I pray that God will fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings

May passion be the wind that moves
You through your days
And may convictions keep you strong
Guide you on your way
May there be many moments
That make your life so sweet
But more then memories

I pray that God will fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky
I'll have tears as you take off
But I'll cheer you as you fly
I will give you roots and help you find your wings

Word of God Speak - Mercy Me

I'm finding myself
at a loss for words.
And the funny thing is -
it's ok.
The last thing I need
is to be heard
but to hear
what you would say.

CHORUS:
Word of God speak
would you pour down like rain
washing my eyes to see
your majesty
To be still and know
that you're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
in your holiness
Word of God speak

I'm finding myself
in the midst of you
beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need
is to be with you
and in quiet
hear your voice

CHORUS

I'm finding myself
at a loss for words
and the funny thing is
it's ok

I LOVE that song so much! I especially like the part that I left; it's so powerful! :)

Here's my favorite meshing of "regular" Christian song and Christmas song; it can be both. I'm in a Christmas mood today! :santa:

Casting Crowns
"While You Were Sleeping"

Oh little town of Bethlehem
Looks like another silent night
Above your deep and dreamless sleep
A giant star lights up the sky
And while you’re lying in the dark
There shines an everlasting light
For the King has left His throne
And is sleeping in a manger tonight, tonight

Oh Bethlehem, what you have missed while you were sleeping
For God became a man
And stepped into your world today
Oh Bethlehem, you will go down in history
As a city with no room for its King
While you were sleeping
While you were sleeping

Oh little town of Jerusalem
Looks like another silent night
The Father gave His only Son
The Way, the Truth, the Life had come
But there was no room for Him in the world He came to save

Jerusalem, what you have missed while you were sleeping
The Savior of the world is dying on your cross today
Jerusalem, you will go down in history
As a city with no room for its King
While you were sleeping
While you were sleeping

United States of America
Looks like another silent night
As we’re sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children
And while we’re lying in the dark
There’s a shout heard ‘cross the eastern sky
For the Bridegroom has returned
And has carried His bride away in the night, in the night

America, what will we miss while we are sleeping
Will Jesus come again
And leave us slumbering where we lay
America, will we go down in history
As a nation with no room for its King
Will we be sleeping?
Will we be sleeping?

United States of America
Looks like another silent night

America, what will we miss while we are sleeping
Will Jesus come again
And leave us slumbering where we lay
America, will we go down in history
As a nation with no room for its King
Will we be sleeping?
Will we be sleeping?

Oh I really love the song you posted! The part about America really stands out to me.....seems we spend a lot of time giving lip service in one respect and then turn around and spew all kind of blasphemies out of the same mouth......there's a verse(s) in James 3 - But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison, with it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things out not to be so. This was really brought into light when visiting my DH on base while he is at BCT and AIT......the oath, etc. they all pledge to defend God and our country but then use His name in vain in casual conversation......AMERICA WILL WE BE SLEEPING?????

I can listen to Casting Crowns all day, if you've never seen them in concert they are great and so down to earth!

On of my favorite songs-

Welcome Home by Shaun Groves-

Take, me, make me
All You want me to be
That's all I'm asking, all I'm asking

Welcome to this heart of mine
I've buried under prideful vines
Grown to hide the mess I've made
Inside of me
Come decorate, Lord
Open up the creaking door
And walk upon the dusty floor
Scrape away the guilty stains
Until no sin or shame remain
Spread Your love upon the walls
And occupy the empty halls
Until the man I am has faded
No more doors are barricaded

Chorus:
Come inside this heart of mine
It's not my own
Make it home
Come and take this heart and make it
All Your own
Welcome home

Take a seat, pull up a chair
Forgive me for the disrepair
And the souvenirs from floor to ceiling
Gathered on my search for meaning
Every closet's filled with clutter
Messes yet to be discovered
I'm overwhelmed, I understand
I can't make this place all that You can

repeat chorus

I took the space that You placed in me
Redecorated in shades of greed
And I made sure every door stayed locked
Every window blocked, and still You knocked

repeat chorus

Take me, make me
All You want me to be
That's all I'm asking, all I'm asking

I know; there's something about Casting Crowns that is just so real and unpretentious and all about Jesus. I've only seen them once in "concert" (it was at one of those festivals where many different bands play) and they were the best show of the whole weekend. I would have paid full admission price just to see them and then leave. And often, I will just listen to Casting Crowns all day long. :)

My favorite line in that song is "As we're sung to sleep by philosophies that save the trees and kill the children". That really stands out to me for some reason. Very, very powerful.

We Are The Reason - Avalon (Joy)
As little children
We would dream of Christmas morn
Of all the gifts and toys
We knew we'd find
But we never realized
A baby born one blessed night
Gave us the greatest gift of our lives

We were the reason
That He gave His life
We were the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

As the years went by
We learned more about gifts
The giving of ourselves
And what that means
On a dark and cloudy day
A man hung crying in the rain
All because of love, all because of love

I've finally found the reason for living
It's in giving every part of my heart to Him
In all that I do every word that I say
I'll be giving my all just for Him, for Him

He is my reason to live

This has been one of my favorite Christmas songs since I first heard it almost 3 years ago. :)

4Him
A Strange Way to Save the World

I'm sure he must have been surprised
At where this road had taken him
Cause never in a million lives
Would he have dreamed of Bethlehem

CHANNEL
And standing at the manger
He saw with his own eyes
The message from the angel come to life
And Joseph said

CHORUS
Why me, I’m just a simple man of trade
Why Him with all the rulers in the world
Why here inside this stable filled with hay
Why her, she’s just an ordinary girl
Now I’m not one to second guess
What angels have to say
But this is such a strange way to save the
World

To think of how it could have been
If Jesus had come as He deserved
There would have been no Bethlehem
No lowly shepherds at His birth

CHANNEL
But Joseph knew the
Reason love had to reach so far
And as he held the Savior in his arms
He must have thought

REPEAT CHORUS

Now, I'm not one to second guess
What angels have to say
But this is such a strange
Way to save the world
Such a strange way, this is
Such a strange way
A strange way to save the world
A strange way to save the world

Here are two Christmas songs I absolutely love. They put in to words how Joseph could have felt being intrusted with this awesome responsibility.

Joseph's Song - Michael Card
Chorus 1
How could it be this baby in my arms
Sleeping now, so peacefully
The Son of God, the angel said
How could it be
Lord I know He's not my own
Not of my flesh, not of my bone
Still Father let this baby be
The son of my love

Chorus 2
Father show me where I fit into this plan of yours
How can a man be father to the Son of God
Lord for all my life I've been a simple carpenter
How can I raise a king, How can I raise a king
He looks so small, His face and hands so fair
And when He cries the sun just seems to disappear
But when He laughs it shines again
How could it be

Chorus 2

Chorus 1

Joseph's Lullaby - Mercy Me
Go to sleep my Son
This manger for your bed
You have a long road before You
Rest Your little head

Can You feel the weight of Your glory?
Do You understand the price?
Or does the Father guard Your heart for now
So You can sleep tonight?

Go to sleep my Son
Go and chase Your dreams
This world can wait for one more moment
Go and sleep in peace

I believe the glory of Heaven
Is lying in my arms tonight
But Lord, I ask that He for just this moment
Simply be my child

Go to sleep my Son
Baby, close Your eyes
Soon enough You'll save the day
But for now, dear Child of mine
