Hey everyone!
Some of you guys know me already but some may not. My story is as follows:
I have a wonderful DH, DD9, and DD6.5. Before August of 2001, I always said I would rather cut off my legs than run a mile. Then everything changed. On Labor Day of 2001, I went out to run 3 miles...and almost died before mile 1 was over. A runner was born!:rotfl:
I then signed up for my 1st 5k in October 2001. It was the Race For the Cure. I did it in 33 min and was very proud.
I did several other races and in April 2002, I ran my 1st 1/2 marathon. My time was 2:22.
In 2003, my SIL signed up for WDW marathon and roped me into it. I trained and ran the WDW 2004. I had run my 1st marathon! WOW!
I went on to run WDW 2005, Goofy 2006, and PRed at WDW in 2007. I have also run Charlotte Marathon, a Trail marathon, several other races, and a Tri.
So with all that, if I can run, bike, and swim, anyone can.
I have started this journal for 3 reasons!
1. To keep track of my training
2. To be an encouragment to anyone reading it.
3. to record the new journey I have started. To train for a Century Bike ride.

If I can figure it out, will be going back and copying my posts from the running thread, so I can keep track on what has and hasn't worked for me in the past.
Thanks to everyone reading it and any thoughts are welcomed!

Wow,
Thats amazing. What happened to change your attitude on Labour Day 2001?
I'm just starting my own journey-walking, not running-and in my case I'm doing it now because medically I couldn't before. Now I can. Oddly enough I started getting fit in October because I booked a trip to Disney and decided i needed to be able to walk 5 miles a day in order to "NOT DIE" on the first day at the Parks. And once I started getting fitter I wanted more. Now I'm training to walk a marathon in the seven hours alloted. Not sure when and where this magical marathon will take place but in my mind its at Disney.

Yay! :yay: Glad to see you've started a journal!!! Can't wait to read thoughts from a real hardcore athlete. :thumbsup2

Christa-WTG on starting a journal!!! I look forward to reading about your training. You are an inspiration! To get a PR at this year's marathon in those conditions is AWESOME!!!

Carole - I had DD6.5 in 2000 and thought it was just time to do something cool! And running is too cool!!

I have really been crazy this week! We opened a new show with my Theatre. The Little Red Henpopcorn:: ! Most of my training has been hard core dancing, acting and moving large stage trucks. Did I mention I was in a full dog costume with face paint?:rotfl:

Monday
Danced/rehearsal 6 hours, biked 30 min, weight trained
Did not really get a chance to eat much. Getting ready to open a show is KILLER! I ate 2 bananas, p-nut butter, and an apple! ALL DAY!:scared1:
Tuesday -
Opened show! Danced/acted/stage hand 4 hours
Ate better today so far!
Shreaded wheat, banana after show, grilled chicken pita, FRIES!

Show went great! We were about sold out! Had a GREAT TIME!

Christa--Glad to hear the show opening went great!!! And to think you are getting a workout while working!! I am a physical education teacher, and running around with my students is awesome, i feel like I get a workout everyday, although i still get my regular workouts in also.

How long does your show run for?

Welcome Christa! I'm looking forward to reading your journal, and all about your training progress. Denise

This show will run every Tuesday morning until the end of the school year. It is great fun, but very draining.:3dglasses
Not sure what I will do today. I really am tired and have lots of :laundy: so I will not do anything this morning, maybe after work.

Hi, Christa! Very excited to read your journal and share your progress toward your Century ride. You have been an inspiration to me for a long time and I am looking forward to the opportunity to provide :cheer2: and encouragement to your efforts by visiting your journal.

Cam - You are such a sweetheart! I am so glad I got to meet you this year at WDW.

My training - I did get out yesterday and run. 4 miles with an 8:45 ave pace. Jrt kept trying to stop and sniff everything so I ran back home, dropped her off, then finished my run. I only had a mile to go.;)
Going out of town today with DH so I am trying to pack for me, princess: princess: , and him before work. So much to remember and I am sitting here on the Dis boards.:scared1:

Christa--Great job on your workout yesterday!! WTG for getting it in despite your busy schedule!

What kind of show are you doing? One for school kids? (I ask that because you said you were doing it till the end of the school year) Even though it is draining, it must be so much fun for you to do something that it sounds like you truly love doing!!

Hope you have a nice trip out of town!

Sorry it has been so long for posting but DH took me out of town to Ashville, NC. Very nice! I did NO training, but thats OK.

Yesterday - Was my Birthday!:scared1: But I ran none the less. 5 miles in 46 minutes! This included me having to stop every so often to help DDs with their Valentine Cards.

Today - I did the "Little Red Hen" show. I count that as xtraining due to all the dancing and jumping around I do. I also have rehearsal tonight for another show.

Tomorrow may be Valentines Day for you, but it is DD9 Birthday for me.:hippie: So I will be at here school for most of the day. Will try to run before school starts.

Hey Christa---HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!(a day late) I hope you had an awesome day!!

WTG for getting in a workout, and you had a great pace too!!

Quick post this morning...

Yesterday I ran 5 miles with an ave pace of 8:35.
Walked a total of 1 mile in between the miles to "recover".:confused3
So this was 6 miles on a track....120 times around...this is a SMALL track.

Would have done more, but had to get to DD9 class for her 9th birthday.

Ran today!
Did 5 miles on an indoor track. Really struggled with it though. This :confused3 me.
Then met sis, changed into my cold running clothes and did 7.6 miles with her. I was wiped out at the end of the run.
12 something miles never wipes me out so I was very :confused3 :confused3 !
I know the problem now though. I am sick with some kind of cold like thingy. Will go eat a box of thin mints to make myself feel better.;)

Wow, Christa, I had no idea that you were so new to running. I figured you'd been out there doing it for sooooo long now. Another reason for you to be an inspiration. Keep up the good work!

I think it's great that you bike for MS. We ended up running the Disney 1/2 for AT Children's Project last year and now I am running the Minnie and the Disney full for them next year. We have come to really believe in and support the cause, and it means a little more when I feel like I am running for something.!!

Your paces and time are a real inspiration to me !! Hope we have an awesome time to report for Gasparilla.!! :)

Angie

Sick today so no training:sad2: !

Angie - I cannot wait to see your race report! I know you will do fantastic! WTG on running for a cause! It really does make it all worthwhile!

Sundays are always a little hecktic (SP?) for me.
I work with the children's ministry at our church and we do a production called "Big Mama's Attic". This involves memorizing around a 10 page script then getting on stage (dressed like a dog) and singing, acting, and dancing my heart out. I LOVE it though...oh and it burns around 500 calories!

So I did that today
Went and ate Chinese food.
Then ran 4.5 mile with an 8:37 pace with JRT!

OK, advice for the day!
DO NOT EAT LIKE I DID THEN EXPECT TO FEEL GREAT WHILE YOU ARE RUNNING!:scared1:
