Choosing Fewer Than Three FP Options

I am slowly coming around to the FP+ idea (after mastering the old system and not being happy that it was changing), particularly with the added options after using the first three. But what happens if you don't even want all of the first three and would rather just get one or two? For example, we'll be there for a week, but are building our park visits around our kids' dance competition that is happening off-property. Thus, on a busy dance day, we might want to hop into Epcot or DHS early one morning (from Beach Club) and ride one thing before heading over to our other event, but the system seems to be forcing me to make three choices and NOT letting me make just one. This seems unfair to the rest of the guests who will not be able to get a FP for something because I had to take it if I wanted to get the one that I really wanted. I suppose, in theory, this means that the standby line's posted wait time will be artificially inflated, so maybe I'm making those people five minutes happier, but it still seems to be a flaw in the system.

Is there a way to make only one or two FP choices on the system, and I'm just missing it? When I have tried to cancel some but not all of the three, it does not seem to want to let me do that. I guess I just need to make my unwanted FP options for what I believe to be least appealing attractions and try not to knock anybody out of a favorite.

Nope, you have to make all 3 FPs to start your day. If you don't want but one pick less popular attractions for your other two.

From what I can tell it forces you to always choose 3. We were there last week and stayed at the WL. We popped by the MK on almost every day for at least a little bit. We would schedule 2 fast passes back to back so that we could immediately walk from one to another. For the 3rd one that we knew we wouldn't use we would try to choose something low priority at an odd time to not take away the slot from someone else. Being able to spend a quick hour in a park to hit a couple of specific attractions was one reason I really enjoyed FP+!
