I’m taking down Christmas today. I’m just ready to move on from the decorations. No idea for dinner. Maybe something simple..might check the outside freezer. View attachment 1034339
That is such a good idea . I used to store a bubble wrapped tree in the shower of one of our bathrooms in our old apartment. Which took me straight to my current storage solution: have your carpenter build a cabinet with doors. Every year I open those doors with a sigh of relief and a smile on my face.
I had too many disparate thoughts in my head to say anything and I’m still mulling. There were discussions about leaving town but that fell thru. So back to the drawing board.
NY strip steaks in the freezer from a summer sale could mean steak au poivre and no need to shop.
But normally, it’s seafood on NYE on this end, so a seafood and chicken gumbo could seem right and I do have a dark roux in the freezer.
I have about 5 hours to make up my mind
On the bright side there is still Champagne on hand and most everything needed to make a flan.
Going to be a quiet, rainy (?) NYE and NYD here. Planning on Garlic Butter Roasted Mushrooms w/Baked Brie and a salad for NYE. Italian Sausage and Tuscan Kale Soup and homemade bread for NYD. Looking forward to staying home for a few days.
NYE.....nothing. Sit at home with DH and watch a movie.
NYD....Family is coming over for lunch. It will be all appetizers. Everyone picked their favorites. Now to figure how to get them all cooked since they all.....mostly....take an oven.
Tonight dinner is Cranberry Orange pork chops, cauliflower rice and green salad.
It’s also going to be quiet at our house for NYE & NYD. Originally, my youngest daughter & I had grandstand seats for the Rose Parade in Pasadena. She bought the tickets before she found out she’s pregnant. Now she’s 7+ months along and it would be quite uncomfortable for her on the metal bleachers. There is also rain in the forecast for So Cal the next couple of days. Hope the people we gave the tickets to brave the weather!
Tomorrow night for NYE: Roast salmon with lemon & herbs, golden roasted potatoes, & arugula with fresh parm. I think for a starter, I’m going to make hummus and have dipping veggies & pita wedges. Kind of cheesed out. LOL

Glad DH liked it! Hope DS does too. We went to the Newport Auto Museum today and had a late lunch at O'Brien's Pub in Newport so not sure if we'll skip dinner too or maybe pick up a pizza.
