Hi, When I told my DS we would be dining at KONA he immediately replied "I LOVE the lava cake there!!" and then I had to tell him "Not anymore":sad2: So now I am on a QUEST to find him the BEST chocolate lava cake (even if it is OFF PROPERTY!) Can anybody help me?? Thanks so MUCH:flower3: Joan

The Chocolate Wave at Coral Reef has some non-chocolate components, but is pretty close.

Um, are you looking for this lava cake?

They brought back the chocolate a few weeks ago - I ate this (as did my DH - his own!) just about 10 days ago at Kona.

Oh, and it was yummy.

We had an amazing chocolate lava cake with mint chocolate chip gelato at the Yachtman...the warm cake oozing the warm thick chocolate and the cold gelato was unbelievable!

Does anyone have an idea of what is a good time to stop by for dessert & drinks? I'd hate to take an ADR away from someone who wanted the entire meal, plus we have all our dinner ADRs already booked. It definitely looks good enough to stop by for dessert one day though.

OMG you just made my day!!! My son insisted we go back to Kona Cafe in August just for this dessert...I was hoping it would come back so he wouldn't fall apart in the middle of the restaurant!
THANK YOU!!!

Oh My- I am so glad the Chocolate lave cake has returned to Kona. I was not happy at all with the chocolate chip version I was served last year.
Now I wish they would bring back the one we really enjoyed at Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. It was luscious...served with bing cherry icecream...

The Wave at Coral Reef was very good, but beware of the cherries they top it with they are 100 proof...

I Love a good chocolate desert...

Bev

There is a chocolate lava cake at Shula's in the Dolphin. Out of this world.

Oh wow, I hope it's true that the full-on chocolate version is back at Kona!! I enjoyed it so much last year and was disappointed to hear it had changed, hope it's there for May 2009!!!!

There also a Chocolate Lava cake at the Rainforest Cafe. I don't have a picture of it but perhaps someone else does. THe servers makes a big deal whenever there is an order. (yells out)

Hi - lava cake poster here - our waitress specifically mentioned "they just brought it back last week", which would put the return of the chocolate lava cake around April 10th...

I didn't think anything of it at the time, but I was happy about it (was deciding between fondue and creme brulee at the time due to pix on the food thread) - it really was luscious. And I certainly would agree that they should keep it as is, but as for May 2009, that's a tough call. Disney seems to change on a whim!

Hi, THANK YOU so much for posting this info!! My DS seemed so disappointed when I told him it was gone that I was going to change my KONA ADR! But now it will make for a PERFECT first night meal!! I am SURE many others will be HAPPY:cool1: to hear of its return also!! Joan
