Anyone buy one of those small, non expensive chocolate fountains that I've seen at Kohl's and Wal Mart. I've seen different brands, sizes, etc. I need the good, the bad and the ugly!

Thanks!!!!

My cousin had one at the Christmas party. It was really fun for people of all ages. Also, it is an attention getter.
I am not sure how it was to clean up though. Of course you don't use all of the chocolate, and just cleaning up after dipping strawberries in a pot is yucky and sticky, so you might want to consider that.

We had one at our Christmas Party and it was the hit of the party. The chocolate was yummy!!!! What was funny is the people who hosted the party forgot and left it on overnight and the chocolate was frozen the next morning.

DH bought one-I think it was about 50 bucks over the holidays for our Xmas party. Yes it was good, yes it was fun and yes everyone LOVED the chocolate fondue fountain with marshmallows, strawberries and other treats.
That being said, I can guarantee if I am the one that has to clean it up, we wont be using it again. :sad2: It is the worst thing ever to clean b/c the part that gets dirty with chocolate, cannot be submerged in water. I had to wipe out the chocolate as per instructions. Took forever and I told DH that night, if you EVER want to use this again, be prepared to be the one cleaning it up. He just laughed b/c we know he wont be doing that!

Funny you would post this. I am having one at DS's wedding reception tomorrow!!!
I have never used one, but FDIL really wanted one for the reception. I got this one at Dillards (normally $80 - but on sale for $50). It is a little larger and seems nicer than the Wal-Mart chocolate fountains. It uses 4 lb. of chocolate. I bought a 7.5 lb bag at Event Rentals for $35. I think you can mix chocolate chips and cooking oil, but I can't afford for it to mess up so I bought the stuff made just for the fountain.
Send me a PM after tomorrow night and then I'll tell you my real thoughts on a chocolate fountain. By then, I will have used one and cleaned it!

We also got one - we've used it only once and it is a bit of a pain to clean. Yes you can use choc. chips and vegetable oil. I'm curious if the chocolate made specifically for it (no oil to add) is any easier to clean. I'm probably going to be using it again this weekend. One thing's for sure - you'll be the hit of the event and loved by all!!

OMG!! This is my favorite thing in the whole wide world!! My FH got me one for Christmas, and it's the gift that keeps on giving. It's fun, yummy and the whole family just loves it! It is a little tough to clean up though. You can't submerge the bottom part in water but as long as you hold it sideways and run it underwater it's no big deal. The tower and the middle twisty part can be put in the diswasher, so that's not hard at all.

I can imagine that some people don't like the work that goes into the cleanup but I think the whole thing is worth it. This thing is amazing, and I can't tell you how much I enjoy it. The first time I used it I used the chocolate chips and oil, that worked out very well. The last time I used it I got the chocolate from the craft store (I got it at AC Moore), the stuff that you use to melt to make lollypops, I got the green chocolate for St. Patrick's Day. It was amazing. The fun and joy of this contraption totally outweigh the annoyance of the cleanup.

I love this thing, can you tell? :rotfl2:

OK, so for those of you who have one, where did you buy it and what brand is it?

Thanks!!!

I don't know anything about them, but I want one!!!!!!

Me too! I knew I should have bought on when they were on sale last christmas, oh well I'll just wait till the end of this year.

they just had a chocolate cook's essential fountain on QVC for around $39 bucks. It looks great. I was thinking about getting one for dad's 60th birthday party. I though everyone would love it. I didn't order it today though. Party isn't until July.

I'm having my friends over for a girl's night this week and I'm bringing out the chocolate fountain :). I got mine for $75 from Costco last year but the prices seem to have gone down.

FH got it for me at Bed Bath and Beyond. I think it was only $30. :thumbsup2

I'm subscribing. I want one too!

My parents got one from Costco --cost about $30. I don't know the brand. It worked out great though. We used good chocolate --Callabeuat semi-sweet.

They look cool and I would love to see one in action sometimes. I just wonder about the clean up. :scratchin
