*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

I still recommend the Bellini in Italy! It is really a delight!

    12 days

On Thursday, we hit the single digit mark. I can't believe the trip is less than two weeks away.

I'm thinking instead of getting another Memory Stick, I'll just transfer the pics to my laptop. That'll make life a lot easier. Or will it?!?!?

I just ordered another one for myself, a second one so I have room for video too. If you go t pricewatch dot com or newegg dot com they have good deals.

I transfer my pics every night from my camera to my computer. I like to have different folders for each day. But maybe that just makes me anal!

Sorry for not responding to everyone last night. I had a killer migraine. I'll be back later to respond and post an update :)

Oh! My SYMPATHIES, JEN!!!

Two weeks ago I was so sick with one... :headache:
have a real heartwarming story about it, too!

DD had a dentist appt in the same town as her pediatrician... She was complaining of some ear pain (Swimmer's ear most likely), so I called to see if the pediatrican's office could see us since we would be in that area...

Dentist appt 11am, Pediatrician only appt available 1:45...
Took her to the dentist and figured I'd take her to lunch, and waste some time in the shops before the pediatrician appt.. I was SO SICK.... had to order a glass of ice at lunch to put in a napkin for my head....

Finally decided I could NOT wait for her pedicatrican appt because I was so ill and said I'd call them to cancel when we got home... as we are going to the car, her Pedicatrican comes walking out of the deli, ordering his lunch... he sees us and says hello, then takes one look at me and says, "WHAT'S THE MATTER?" I proceed to tell him that DD's ear is bothering her, but I have such a horrendous migraine I can't wait so we'll reschedule... he doesn't even let me finish...
Twirls us around, unlocks his office... the office staff was having their lunch.. he asks one for DD's chart and sends her to the exam room, goes to another room and shuts the lights off and says to me "You - in there - lie down and close your eyes"

Takes care of DD, it was swimmer's ear, writes her a Rx then says, "What about YOU? What are you doing for yourself?" I tell him my dr is on vacation but the office was going to try to call in a Rx... he turns the page of his pad, and writes ME a Rx and sends us on our way. :)

A few minutes later, as we are walking down the sidewalk, I hear my name being called; It's the doctor, calling out to me "Are you ok to drive??" He was going to DRIVE ME HOME. What an angel.

I told him I would be ok to get home - he said, "ok, you take care." and then headed to the deli - the poor guy hadn't gotten to eat his lunch!!

In today's day and age, that kind of a doctor is a rarity!!

I hope YOU feel better SOON!!! :flower3:

Yes, he's a gem. I stopped by his office the other day with a thank you note and a gift certificate to the deli he was leaving when we ran into him! Told him we were sorry to interrupt his lunch and have one on us! :goodvibes

And what is it with doctors and weight?! :rotfl:

Sorry to hear about the migraine. I've never had that problem, but I've been around people who have, and it's not a pretty sight. I hope you're feeling better.

Hope you're feelin' better Jen. Just swingin' through to say I saw "1 week 4 days" in your ticker. When I get my calculator out, that is

7 + 4 = 11

11 Days!!!!

LL, I'm still working on catching up, but I decided I'd just jump in.

Ooh, wonderful list! Very ambitious! I think I'd do well to manage even half of that! :lmao:

:rotfl: I'm with Jackie; I hope not!

All this drunken scootering talk had me :rotfl:

:woohoo: :dance3: :yay: :cool1: :thumbsup2

I liked having my laptop to save photos to, but of course it takes time (and dexterity! :rotfl: ) to do that. If you want convenience, it might be best to go for another memory stick.

Given the number of food pix here on the DIS, I doubt it fazes the CMs at all.

In a "normal" restaurant, I don't think I could take pictures. But at Disney--why not? :rotfl:

I wonder if the CMs will take pics of me posing with the food.

My camera is pretty bulky too so it's a production to take it out. I don't know, I think I am going to be open about it, if it happens it happens. I won't shed tears over no food porn. :lmao:

Do you have a cell phone camera? You could use that.

I am so excited about 12 days. I will probably miss the whole single digit dance - I'll be so busy on Thursday.

I am taking my computer and transferring pics, but I did just buy two more 4 gig memory sticks today (one for me and one for Katie - we have the same camera) and an extra battery for Katie (I already had 2). Why not do both?

If we take any video on our cameras, it uses up lots of memory. The 4 gigs were expensive, but I justified it b/c they were only $10 more than the 2GB and twice the capacity! :thumbsup2

I really have to work today.

Awww I'll do the single digit dance for you!

Maybe I'll get an extra memory stick and bring my laptop.

Are you sure you want a Yak Attack? Will you have to use your epipen?

Why not substitute a French Martini on your arrival night from the bar at the California Grill?

Did you get that Epipen refill?

I didn't get the refill just yet. And Yak Attack is no longer on my list. I DO NOT want to end up in the hospital.

I still recommend the Bellini in Italy! It is really a delight!

Allyson :)

I'm looking forward to a Bellini or 7 in Italy :)

I transfered pics to my laptop every night during our trip, it worked great.

Hmmm then I can do a couple of live updates too.

I just ordered another one for myself, a second one so I have room for video too. If you go t pricewatch dot com or newegg dot com they have good deals.

I'm going to check those sites.

That's a great idea! Separate folders will help with the tr :thumbsup2

 Ugh, I hate migraines! Thankfully I haven't had one in about five years. I'm glad you're feeling better, and take your time! :goodvibes

Thanks

Thanks

All doctors are obsessed with weight. I'd love to break my doc's scale :lmao:

Sorry to hear about the migraine. I've never had that problem, but I've been around people who have, and it's not a pretty sight. I hope you're feeling better.

Hope you are feeling better today, Jen!

Hi Jen, I am really enjoying your PTR. I wanted to let you know that we did the pre-purchase photopass cd last month and we loved it! We were able to get over 400 photos on our photopass card. We did photo shoots at the GF and the Poly and they were great! Once you pre-purchase your cd, print off the info that is emailed to you and all you need to do is show the paperwork to the photopass photographer and you are able to get all of your photos downloaded to your photopass card. If I were you, I would wait until you get home and then download your photopass card to your account so this way you can add borders and character signatures. I have heard that if you purchase the cd at one of the parks, you are not able to add any borders or signatures to any of your photos. WOW, I didn't mean to babble on...

My friends and I split the cost of the CD after we returned from our trip. We were able to add the borders and things ourselves. I haven't heard about not being able to use those if you purchase at the parks. I know the kiosk place in DTD has computer screens where you can view your photos, so you may be able to add borders and such--but it can be a pain to wait for one to become available, and I imagine if there's a queue you could get kicked off after a while. Being able to edit at home is a plus, IMO. :thumbsup2

:welcome: I'm glad you're enjoying my ptr.

Thanks for the Photopass info. I just pre-purchased the CD and got the confirmation email. And I am going to wait until I get home. I didn't know that you can add the borders, etc. once you're home. I'm going make sure we take a ton of pics.

I agree. I can edit my photos in my pjs and not have to rush. I'm sure there will be long waits at the Photopass kiosks.

Okay, I totally want pics of you posing with the food!:lmao:

:lmao: I'm going to pose with my Quiche Lorraine at Chefs de France. I get the feeling the French waitstaff may think I'm bonkers.

Today is our 10 day mark. :cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:
At midnight, we officially leave double digits in the dust. It's single digit dance time tomorrow baby!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

With the trip being less than 2 weeks away, it's time to kick everything into gear. Here is my new to-do list:

1. Buy shampoo, conditioner, and detangler (I don't want my curls in a knot!).
2. Pack flat iron.
3. Buy Children's Zyrtec for T in case his allergies are out of control.
4. Buy another 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for my Sony Cybershot.
Here's a pic of the camera:
camera.jpg

5. Stop mail.
6. Go over ADRs. See if I want to make any other changes.
7. Get money for tips ready

I pre-purchased the Photopass CD today. So that's one less thing to do.

I've been reading that 2009 package prices may be available this weekend. I'm tempted to book as soon as prices are released. But I'm not sure if I should wait until we get to Disney on the 9th and see if a bounceback offer is available. Right now. we'd either like to go the end of June or any time in July or August.

Also, I'm still debating resort choices. Here's what I'm thinking:

1. Two rooms at either the Poly, CR, or GF. The Poly would be the most convenient of the three since the TTC is only a short walk away.

2. Two bedroom villa at either BCV or BWV. I'm not sure which would be best. I like that these two resorts are close to Epcot and DHS.

3. Two bedroom villa at AKV. Seems like a beautiful resort, but far removed from everything.

The kitchen and washer/dryer are pluses to staying in a villa.
I really want a resort that is conveniently located near at least two parks. That only leaves option 1 or 2.
We want a package with the dining plan as well. We're just not sure if we'll do deluxe dining or the regular dining plan. We'll see how this trip goes.

Lastly, I have AAA. If Disney doesn't offer any discounts for next summer, I am considering booking through AAA to get the 15% off. Has anyone booked through AAA? What has been your experience?

I am doing the 10-day dance with you!!!

I have some info on photopass. I will post it on my PTR. Not sure if it will be now or later today, since I'm sitting at an airport and not sure when I will have to shut down.

You know my experience with AAA. But any discount is better than none!

I think we have the same camera.

I think I have already done all the stuff on your to-do list. :thumbsup2 But I have effectively lost 6 days (today through Monday) so I had to do it early.
