*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

I don't need to know why. what you do in your private time is your business.

:lmao:

:rotfl2: I am going to a 70s themed 30th birthday party right before Disney. My stylist wants to style the wig for me. Ahh the things we do for friends.

I've never taken pics of food.

How is Kumo?

Awww congrats on the commitment ceremony!!! That's so wonderful. Now you need to have a party in Disney and invite everyone!!! We can all meet in the MK.

:lmao: It only costs $27?!?

I've been up planning, making packing lists, and trying to figure out what I'm missing. So far, I need to buy a few more toiletries and another Memory Stick Duo for my camera.

I have a few questions and I know someone here will be able to help me.

1. Has anyone used Garden Grocer? If so, how far in advance do I need to place my order? Is there a different grocery delivery service that works just as well? What about WeGoShop?

2. Does anyone carry a portable fan/mister with them in the parks? If so, what brand do you recommend? What about a clip on stroller fan?

3. What has been your experience with Magical Express during the afternoon in the summer? Is it usually a long wait to board the bus? Do all of the Magic Kingdom resorts share one bus? I'm trying to figure out if we should stop to get T something for lunch at the airport or wait until we get to the resort.

Also, how long have you had to wait for your luggage? We used ME in January, but got our own bags since we landed at 6 p.m. We also didn't have to wait for a bus. It was EMPTY!

Our flight is scheduled to land at noon. We'll have breakfast at LaGuardia before our 9:15 flight. T usually sleeps through the entire flight, only staying awake long enough for take off. By the time we land, T will be ready to have lunch. The rest of us can wait until we get to the resort, but will probably stop to pick up drinks for the bus ride. I'm trying to decide if we should stop to get something to eat for him before heading to Magical Express or just wait until we get to the Contemporary. What do you think? Oh and if this helps, T is 4.5 years old.

4. Our package, with park tickets and deluxe dining, doesn't kick in until we check into the Poly on Sunday. Saturday at the Contemporary is an extra night we added because of the Bounceback. What should we do during our first afternoon in Disney? Here are some options:
a. Check out the CR and hit the pool. We'll only be here one night. *This
option requires carrying on swimsuits and an extra set of clothes for
T and me. My mom and dad are not pool people.
Also, should we take the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge? We've
never been there, but have a lunch ADR at WCC later in the week. Is
the WL as breathtaking as everyone says it is?
b. Head over to DTD for lunch. Stroll around until it's time to head back
to the CR for our ADRs at Chef Mickey's.
c. Pay for one day base tickets, brave the Saturday crowds, and walk over
to the MK.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

1. Haven't used the grocers. Used to do the "grocery stop" with the town car, but found we really didn't use all the water, soda, and snacks. This year we just used the water that came with our room (the Dolphin includes 2 bottles of water a day with the resort fee) and I had packed some pretzels.

2. We had the bigger mister fans two years in a row, but they started to annoy my neck, and the batteries kept falling out if you bumped into it. lol
This year I bought the little mini misters from O2 at Sports Authority and they were GREAT. They clipped onto your belt loop or bag strap and were really light.

3. Don't use ME because we stay at the Dolphin, but, I don't know that I would anyway - I'm a Town Car Snob. :goodvibes I don't like to share the ride with anyone but my own family, and I feel so very important when I see the man standing there with my name on a card. :rotfl:

4. Don't waste the money on an extra ticket, unless you don't think you can fit all your touring into the days you already have planned. Grab a light lunch and maybe spend some time at the pool. Jen, it will be HOT! And they leisurely get ready for your Chef Mickey reservations. Just MY OPINION. :)

Thanks for the advice :thumbsup2

I'm a town car snob myself. And I generally don't like to share my space. My exbf (when he knows we're going to indulge in some beverages) sends a driver to pick me up. I think that it's completely normal, but many of my friends have explained that it is not :lmao:

Luckily I had a good experience with ME in January. I just hope it continues on August 9th. I have nightmares about being on a bus with the most obnoxious groups ever and they end up having the room next to mine :scared1:

Maybe on arrival day I'll just glue myself in front of the A/C.

Do you think I should bring my Farrah Fawcett wig to Disney? I can prance around the park in my wig and glow accessories.

Mike (my brother) and I had a long conversation last night about Disney :scared1: My brother is not an OCD (Obessive Complusive DISer) like me. If it were up to him, he'd book his vacations a month in advance. No ADRs would be made. He'd barely make it to the airport.

Well, turns out Mike is pretty excited about next year's Disney 1st birthday blowout. We were actually discussing resort choices. That is until he said what is the equivalent of a four letter word to me. HE WANTS TO GO TO UNIVERSAL ONE DAY :scared1: Now, I'm all for trying new things. We've been to US a few times before, with our most recent trip being June 2007. I can't even phathom losing a day of Disneyness for anything else. I won't even dare venture to that park that forces large sea animals to perform for humans.

I just didn't understand why he'd risk losing a day of Disney magic. Here's Mike's logic: T has begun to outgrow his obsession with Thomas and trains and has taken up an interest in superheros. He loves the Incredible Hulk and Batman. Mike and T already have their tickets for opening of Batman. So, Mike wants to take T to Islands of Adventure to bask in the glory of comic books and superheros. BLAH! No thanks. I'm not into tall green men. Tall paramedics...different story :rolleyes1

Like a good sister, I compromised and came up with a suitable alternative. We can figure out how to have a rental car for one day to go to Islands of Adventure. Will I go too? Absolutely NOT! Mike, Natasha, and T will go check out Islands of Adventure one morning, leaving my parents, Jackson, and I to explore all that Disney has to offer.

I know what you must be thinking. They'll lose quality Disney time. I took that into consideration and voila! The solution was simple. A LONGER stay at Disney  So it looks like we may have a 9-10 day stay on our hands :yay:

Our next issue is resort. We discussed getting a couple of rooms at either the GF, Poly, or CR vs. a two bedroom villa either at the Beach Club, Boardwalk, or Animal Kingdom Lodge. We haven't decided yet. (Your thoughts and opinions are needed here :) )

We talked about tickets, dining plans, and flights. Here's what we came up with:

Tickets: MYW with park hoppers
Dining Plan: Deluxe baby!!! (You didn't think we were going to USE that kitchen in the villa, did ya?)
Flights: American, of course! What will it cost? Nada, nothing, zilch, zero!! Why? I have enough miles to get 6 round trip tickets.

Back to this trip....

Another box came today. From one of my favorite online stores. But I have yet to take pics of the contents of that box. Let's play a little game, shall we? Can anyone guess what store I'm referring to? :)

Up next: What's in the box?
