*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

Here's a pic of the birthday cake we ordered for T. We had it delivered to our room at the Poly. When returned for our afternoon break, T was surprised to see this!!!

DisneyWorldJanuary2008026-2.jpg
I love that cake. How did it taste? I have read that that is the problem with the Disney cakes.

I think employers should pay for gas. They want us to get to work, right?
Hey now, I'm an employer. Not sure I like that idea.

I took the pics, now just waiting for the Advil to kick in. I'm sitting here in a toothache daze.
I hope your tooth feels better. I find vodka to work faster than Advil.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the UG. So you are correct. It's packed with info and I love the funny cartoons. Passporter is a close 2nd.
My favorite too, since 1986.

I love your new bag. Looks the perfect size.

OK, a word about the glowstick people. They are on EX and they are raving. They are stuck in the 90's.

Of course! Charles kept asking why I felt it necessary to bring four books plus the trip planning binder when I "already had it all memorized." :lmao:
I'm taking UG and Passporter in my backpack. Maybe more. I am also taking my planning binder in there, which is getting increasingly heavy. Oh, and my computer.

I can't tell you how many times I've read the UG. I saw a list online of books to read before you die and I kept asking myself why the UG wasn't listed :confused3
My Bucketlist includes reading every edition of UG each year until the day I croak.

I'm going to try to take pics of food, but I fear my family will think I lost it. Maybe if they have a few cocktails first.
We did food porn pics in Vegas (you can see them if you read our mini-TR, linked in my siggy). People looked at us like we had lost our mind. We just looked at them and said "what happens in Vegas..."

And got to have the glow sticks! I always bring some when I have the kids with me. Way cheaper than buying multiple light up spinny things at the nighttime shows! And fun to share with kids around you too!
OH, so they sell glow stuff at WDW? So THAT's why everyone buys them and takes them with them. Learn something new every day.

I wish I had a cool aunt like you to buy me chocolate monorails and glow sticks
That just sounds so wrong out of context. What would a person do with chocolate monorails and glow sticks in the same sentence?

I need to take a pic in Disney with glow sticks. I'll do my impression of the creepy people on the package.
This I have to see. Will you do it live with me at the Poly over Lapu Lapus? Maybe I'll do it too and we can take pics to share on DIS.

And yes, the postman's name was Mr. McFeely. Something VERY wrong with that name.
You're right, and that's WRONG. Sounds like it should rather be on Grey's Anatomy.

I don't think a name like that would ever show up in a children's show again :rotfl2:
Except PeeWee Herman's show...:rolleyes1

I loved the Land of Makebelieve. I loved those puppets. My brother hated them.
I was afraid of that King thing.

I have a cardigan that I always wear in my classroom when it's cold -- I call it my Mr. Rogers sweater! It does not have a zipper though!
Do you have the sneakers to change into also?

It took me FOREVER to catch up with y'all. I wanted to respond to every post! Thank you for humoring me. :)

Drunk brunch? I am green with envy!!!!

I turn 31 next week and the exbf turns 34 the day before my bday. I won't be sober at all :lmao:

I'll probably post pics of me holding a bottle of Grey Goose in one hand and a slice of cake in the other.

I'm going to go in order:

The cake was ok at best. I've had better cakes made with Betty Crocker cake mix. I didn't care for the icing. Inside it's just yellow cake.

You don't have to pay for gas. We like you

Thanks! The advil seems to have worked. I think I'll rub some Ketel One on it tomorrow.

Thanks :) I like that the strap is very long. I'm 5'7'' and lots of bags have straps that are too short. It's like Shaq trying to carry Winona Ryder's purse. It just doesn't work!

I wonder if people still go to raves with loud, pulsating techno music.
The only person that's going to rave with my glowsticks is T. And the strongest he'll have is a rice crispie treat dipped in chocolate.

I like your bucketlist. There are things on mine that aren't suitable for the DIS :lmao:

Maybe I'll start taking pics of food when I go out with my friends. They'll be too busy drunk texting people so they won't notice.

They usually sell all of that light up stuff before the parade.

Chocolate monorails and glow sticks :lmao:

I'll do my impression with you at the Poly. I just have to watch my intake of Lapu Lapus. If I don't, they'll be a scene :rotfl2:

OMG Pee Wee Herman!! I remember that show. Wasn't there a genie head in a box or something? And he sat on that red talking chair. WEIRD!!!! But I felt compelled to watch :confused3

I remember the King puppet. I'd like to know why humans were a part of the puppet world. I remember when Lady Elaine went into the castle she had to duck under the trolley tracks.

Didn't Fred Rogers juggle his shoes/sneakers? Or toss them from one hand into the other?

I was not too into the Land of Make Believe because you could tell that Mr. Rogers was doing all the voices!!!

Loved that trolley though!!!

Hearing Mr. Rogers speak must have been so cool, Julie!

I have a cardigan that I always wear in my classroom when it's cold -- I call it my Mr. Rogers sweater! It does not have a zipper though!

How did I miss this post????

I just thought it was weird that humans were allowed into this puppet paradise. If it were just the puppets, then fine.

Do you remember Picture Picture?

I turn 31 next week and the exbf turns 34 the day before my bday. I won't be sober at all :lmao:
At what point does he get upgraded form exbf? Or IS that the upgrade? Maybe his birthday?

I'll probably post pics of me holding a bottle of Grey Goose in one hand and a slice of cake in the other.
I got my Grey Goose goin' on tonight. The Wine wasn't doin' it for me.

Thanks! The advil seems to have worked. I think I'll rub some Ketel One on it tomorrow.
:lmao: Yer crackin' me up!

Thanks :) I like that the strap is very long. I'm 5'7'' and lots of bags have straps that are too short. It's like Shaq trying to carry Winona Ryder's purse. It just doesn't work!
Didn't know she carried a purse. I just thought she lifted everything freehanded. :rotfl:

I wonder if people still go to raves with loud, pulsating techno music.
The only person that's going to rave with my glowsticks is T. And the strongest he'll have is a rice crispie treat dipped in chocolate.
If that does for T what coke does for Katie, you will have a rave on your hands, fer sure.

I like your bucketlist. There are things on mine that aren't suitable for the DIS :lmao:
:rotfl: Mine too!

Maybe I'll start taking pics of food when I go out with my friends. They'll be too busy drunk texting people so they won't notice.
Geez, I am so far behind the times. I thought the latest craze was drunk dialing. Oh yeah, I think I remember your drunk texting episodes a few months ago. Wait - "texting" is getting a spell check error. Shouldn't they add that to Websters?

Chocolate monorails and glow sticks :lmao:
Ahh. the things I could do with those. On my bucketlist. :lmao:

OMG Pee Wee Herman!! I remember that show. Wasn't there a genie head in a box or something? And he sat on that red talking chair. WEIRD!!!! But I felt compelled to watch :confused3
very bizarre. Was there a connection between him and George Michael (who is hot, btw)? Or was that my imagination?

I'd like to know why humans were a part of the puppet world.
Good point. I never really noticed that.

Good point. I never really noticed that.

To be honest, he has been upgraded from exbf. We're discussing (are you sitting down for this one?) marriage and KIDS :scared1: I don't want to upgrade him on print for fear of jinxing the entire situation :rotfl2:

I have some watermelon flavored vodka. It's pretty good.

Winona needs a purse to carry all of the goods. Thug Mickey told me so.

Note to self: T will NOT have chocolate too close to bedtime :rotfl2:

We'll discuss our bucket list at a bar somewhere in the World. I'm sure after a few cocktails, I'll spill everything :rotfl:

Oh drunk texting is the thing. I was the receiver of a drunk text from my friend John last night. Apparently, he indulged in too much Patron Silver at a party :sad2:

George Michael is HOT. I hear he's doing another tour. If he comes to NYC, I want tickets. Front row!!!!! Hmmm I wonder if he and that other guy will do a WHAM! reunion tour. "Wake me up before you go go..."

Whoa! We just got the newsflash at 1am!!! Am I the only one to hear it? I can't believe it's not on CNN or Perez Hilton! I wish you all the luck with that. You deserve happiness. I have a feeling you have not jinxed it.

My vodka is vanilla.

Thug Mickey :lmao:

I love Wham. Andrew Ridgely is "that other (homely) guy". One of my top 10 favorite songs is "Everything She Wants". Somehow that reminds me of dancing with a stranger at the KA house late one night in college. Way before Grey Goose. :rotfl:

What a great bunch of stuff you got.... :) I really love the bag :D

Thanks :)

Perez Hilton :rotfl2:
Thanks  I guess I'm just being superstitious.
The wedding won't be in Disney, that's for sure :lmao:

Oh I love vanilla vodka. Have you ever tried vanilla vodka and cream soda?

It isn't easy being a thug.

Andrew Ridgely!!! Oh he definitely wasn't hot like Georgie. Didn't George wear a white jacket a la Miami Vice on the album cover?

Speaking of Miami Vice, the exbf was obsessed with the show back in the day. I've seen photos of him in pastels. Now, pastels aren't terrible, but he's 6'9''. A little too tall for pastels. He looked like a giant Easter confection :scared1:

Tubbs and Crocket where are you?

I will have to try it with cream soda. See, I do club soda because I trick myself into believing there are minimal calories! :rotfl:

Nope, it was Andrew who wore that jacket:

So have you ever played Grand Theft Auto Vice City? It has so many Miami Vice references in it (plus 80's music to boot), it will take you back. If exbf hasn't played it, that would be a great gift for him. It's so old now, it's probably way cheap.

I've been up planning, making packing lists, and trying to figure out what I'm missing. So far, I need to buy a few more toiletries and another Memory Stick Duo for my camera.

I have a few questions and I know someone here will be able to help me.

1. Has anyone used Garden Grocer? If so, how far in advance do I need to place my order? Is there a different grocery delivery service that works just as well? What about WeGoShop?

2. Does anyone carry a portable fan/mister with them in the parks? If so, what brand do you recommend? What about a clip on stroller fan?

3. What has been your experience with Magical Express during the afternoon in the summer? Is it usually a long wait to board the bus? Do all of the Magic Kingdom resorts share one bus? I'm trying to figure out if we should stop to get T something for lunch at the airport or wait until we get to the resort.

Also, how long have you had to wait for your luggage? We used ME in January, but got our own bags since we landed at 6 p.m. We also didn't have to wait for a bus. It was EMPTY!

Our flight is scheduled to land at noon. We'll have breakfast at LaGuardia before our 9:15 flight. T usually sleeps through the entire flight, only staying awake long enough for take off. By the time we land, T will be ready to have lunch. The rest of us can wait until we get to the resort, but will probably stop to pick up drinks for the bus ride. I'm trying to decide if we should stop to get something to eat for him before heading to Magical Express or just wait until we get to the Contemporary. What do you think? Oh and if this helps, T is 4.5 years old.

4. Our package, with park tickets and deluxe dining, doesn't kick in until we check into the Poly on Sunday. Saturday at the Contemporary is an extra night we added because of the Bounceback. What should we do during our first afternoon in Disney? Here are some options:
a. Check out the CR and hit the pool. We'll only be here one night. *This
option requires carrying on swimsuits and an extra set of clothes for
T and me. My mom and dad are not pool people.
Also, should we take the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge? We've
never been there, but have a lunch ADR at WCC later in the week. Is
the WL as breathtaking as everyone says it is?
b. Head over to DTD for lunch. Stroll around until it's time to head back
to the CR for our ADRs at Chef Mickey's.
c. Pay for one day base tickets, brave the Saturday crowds, and walk over
to the MK.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Get diet cream soda. Less calories :thumbsup2

OMG it wasn't George! Andrew was rockin' the Miami Vice jacket.
Was that Wham's only album?

I have played Grand Theft Auto Vice City. I have to see if he has it. He loves 80s music too. Hmm that's a good birthday option. it's going to either be that, Yankee tickets, or Giants tickets. We'll see His bday is July 23.

2. Does anyone carry a portable fan/mister with them in the parks? If so, what brand do you recommend? What about a clip on stroller fan?
I used a misty mate on my trip over the fourth of July-the tiny cool one. It worked great!

I've been ready a lot about the misty mate. Did you order it online?

I got mine off of eBay-it was about $5 less than Misty Mate.com. I felt like it's worth it to shell out the dough for a good one rather than risking a dollar store/walmart one not working.

I'm going to check eBay and other sites before Misty Mate.

1. I haven't used Garden Grocer, but I think I read you need to order 2-3 weeks in advance. That's NOW, Sistah! I have read about people trying to order and they were "booked". Maybe they only do a certain number of deliveries per day?

I am going to order bottled water and sodas (maybe a diet cream soda? ;) ) from Cosco to be delivered. I guess I better get on that.

2. It's been a long time since we've been, but I don't plan to carry portable fans/misters. My philosophy is to stay light and carry as little as possible in the parks. I guess if we decide we need misters/fans, surely Disney will have them for sale. I plan to make full use of the misters in line and the jumpy water thingies.

3. No ME experience for me. We will be trying it out for our first time. I have a suggestion. Why don't you have a snack (cookies or a rice krispy treat or trail mix) ready for T when he wakes up after the flight and let him eat it as you make your way to ME and on the way to WDW? That should hold him over until you get to WDW and have lunch there. I know I will be so anxious to get there, stopping for lunch at MCO won't be an option for me. Just an idea.

4. Don't know what to tell you about Sat afternoon/night. I am thinking we might do TL's evening EMHs. So many options!

Good idea on the diet cream soda. I have to find one that doesn't taste diet-y.

Nope, they had a couple of others. I found info on wikipedia. Their first album was #1 in UK but not here. Then there was the big falling out and GM went on his own, which, I think, was his better work. Remember Freedom '90 with the video with all the supermodels?? I loved that. Remember Linda Evangelista smoking? When's the last time you saw smoking in a video? Well, maybe they do. I don't know when the last time I watched a music video was.

I think GTAVC is your cheapest option. Just sayin'.

Walgreens on 14th st has the misty mates. at least they did last year wehn I bought them.

3. Good idea about the snacks. If we do get T lunch, we're not stopping to sit and eat. He can eat his chicken nuggets in his stroller :lmao:

4. So much to do, so little time!!! I need to make a decision.

I am going to iTunes to look for Wham! music today.

So true about GTAVC.
