*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

NYC employers would just give us a MetroCard and tell us to hop on the subway or bus :sad2: Maybe a gas stipend. could be negotiated into our next contract.

The joy of having a union -- Georgia would just tell us to deal with it.

Normally, I would not bring my laptop to WDW. I'm on vacation and like to check out of the digital world. But I'm going to NEED to check everyday to see if the 2009 prices are out.

Sundays are when they historically come out.

Are you really looking into becoming a DVC member? I have all of the info, but can't make up my mind. I worry that if I purchase, I'll end up staying at the DVC resorts only. The deluxe resorts require a lot of points. And I really want to try different resorts. Plus I'm not sure I can give up my daily mousekeeping :lmao:

Yes, I have spent all week researching and talking to DVC. However, when I told my mom about it tonight, she flipped on me and said it was foolish (she is totally envisioning a traditional timeshare as opposed to what DVC offers). I thought I was all set to go through with it, but she made me start second-guessing again. :headache:

Ok, I haven't saved the 2009 guidebooks in my Amazon shopping cart yet. That might be one of this evening's activities :rotfl2:

I am so OCD I even have them arranged by publication dates.

UPS just stopped by with a package. Can't wait to take pics and show you what's inside.

Oh, I can't wait to see! :simba:

I don't get how Georgia doesn't have a teacher's union. But then again, we have a union and they tell us to deal with it too :rotfl2:

I didn't know prices come out on Sundays. Now I know I'm going to have to bring my laptop to Disney. Unless I just choose a resort now and book when I'm there.

My mom is the same way. She can talk a serial killer out of his/her next attack.

What DVC resorts are you looking into?

You are definitely organize! I'm like that too. My guidbooks have a special shelf (the top shelf, of course!) and are arranged according to which I like best :rotfl2: Can you guess which is first?

I'm about to load the pics onto Photobucket.

Well, we do have a teachers' union, but it doesn't really have bargaining power.

My mom makes me so mad with her logical reasoning sometimes. :headache:

I want to own AKV -- nothing else -- the others don't excite me enough to want to buy into it until I'm in my 80's.

Hmmmm, I am going to go with UG. My guidebooks aren't organzied, but they do have their own shelf.

AKV is beautiful. I agree about the others. They're lacking in theme. Old Key West looks beautiful, but I like something that screams DISNEY, not RETIREMENT COMMUNITY.

We're considering staying in one of the villas next summer. Either Beach Club, Boardwalk, or Animal Kingdom. I wish they'd open the DVC at the CR already!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the UG. So you are correct. It's packed with info and I love the funny cartoons. Passporter is a close 2nd.

What are your favs?

Definitely those 2 -- I loved my Passporter this summer to jot notes down on while we were there.

On Sunday I took Kat's recommendation and checked out eBags. I was on a mission to find a new park bag. Yes, I could have just gotten a Baggalini, like most DISers. But I'm from New York. Highly unlikely that I would get a bag that everyone has. Plus, it looked a little too big and bulky for my tastes. I think I would have been able to fit Jackson in the bag, along with ponchos, a wallet, and Advil.

So after about a 15 minute search, I found the bag that will accompany me on my journey through the World. It was the perfect size and perfect color.
I immediately added the bag to my cart.

UPS delivered my box today:

Tumi Small Jane Flap Bag

After the gym, I stopped in State News Toy Store to buy glow sticks and glow bracelets. But I think I overpaid :sad2:

The people on the package look like they're ready for a Rave.

I also got T two Kooky Pens. I thought these would be great to use when he's getting autographs.

Did you bring the UG with you also?

Of course! Charles kept asking why I felt it necessary to bring four books plus the trip planning binder when I "already had it all memorized." :lmao:

I like the new bag! :thumbsup2

Those people on the glow sticks look way too happy that they are wearing neon jewelry!

Love it all!

The bag looks like the perfect size for your stuff, I know your nephew will LOVE the glow sticks, and those pens are too cute.:goodvibes

:lmao: Charles is funny! But you HAVE to bring the books as points of reference. You drive to Disney, right? So it's not like you have to pay baggage fees for the books. Makes sense to me.

I can't tell you how many times I've read the UG. I saw a list online of books to read before you die and I kept asking myself why the UG wasn't listed :confused3

Thanks!!! I can't wait to take the bag to Disney. Jane definitely needs a Lapu Lapu :rotfl2:

Those people with glow jewelry are quite creepy.

Thanks!!! I want to start packing the bag now.

T is in for lots of surprises ;)

Thanks for rubbing it in.

Just kidding! I'm so excited for you! You have to take tons of pics of yourself sporting all your new purchases when you're in WDW!

I'll have my own fashion show :lmao:

I'm going to try to take pics of food, but I fear my family will think I lost it. Maybe if they have a few cocktails first.

You should have seen the looks I got in Greece when I was taking food pics! I could just see them thinking "crazy American!" :lmao:

:rotfl2: Just tell people you're an aspiring chef and want ideas for food presentation. That won't work on my family. They know I burn toast.

Thanks so much Kat. I totally forgot about Oriental Trading. I order Halloween stuff for my class from there every year.

I actually did find glow sticks and bracelets at State News on the Upper East Side. I get the feeling I overpaid. I'll post more about that later.

We should still meet for lunch, din, or drinks!!!

We totally should! Maybe once we both get back from the vacations.

What are your dates again? (too lazy to look back and see lol)...I think we will be there at the same time...

Cute cute bag! I like it! And speedy shipping to boot!

And got to have the glow sticks! I always bring some when I have the kids with me. Way cheaper than buying multiple light up spinny things at the nighttime shows! And fun to share with kids around you too!

Charles still has a lot to learn about Disney planning. :sad2:

I wish I had a cool aunt like you to buy me chocolate monorails and glow sticks (except I wouldn't want to look like the people wearing the glow sticks on the packaging)!
