*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

My GOD, woman. This PTR has only been around for a month and its already 111 pages?? I can see I have a lot of catching up to do. Well, I got through the first page anyway. You have a beautiful family. I can't wait to read some more. I guess I'll have to get to it.:goodvibes

:welcome:

Thanks! I like my family too. I think I'll keep them around for a little longer.

I didn't realize it's only been a month :rotfl2:

Keep in mind some posts are about Bret Michael's wig, my exbf, and NKOTB :lmao: All very very much a part of Disney :rotfl:

:faint:
Does it have to be in Latin? That would he H-e-double hockey sticks
Ahh yes, but I am a teacher that doesn't have summers off....Can't afford that yet....

Holy Toledo! That poor group of kids! That's out of control!

No, thank GOD the paper doesn't have to be in Latin. And IT IS DONE!!!! YIPPEE!!! :cool1: (And yes, I HELPED. Shoot me. :rotfl: )

Hope you'll be able to enjoy those summers off real soon! :cutie:

Yes - the whole cast & crew is EXHAUSTED!

And, just to join all the cool kids and chime in...

in 1980...

I was 1. :lmao:

:faint:

(I was also 1 year old in 1980.)

:sad2: lol

Jenn - Love the Williamsburg report! I know what you mean about being out and about when the rest of the world is asleep! We left for the airport last month at 4 am for our Ft Lauderdale trip. It was CREEPY! :scared1:

I've never had white wine sangria. Is it similar to sangria made with red wine?

The play is based on an Egyptian myth about Ra's secret name and how Isis tricks him.

Cool!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

I am a sucker for all things ancient Egyptian. One of our museums here in Atlanta has an Egyptian collection and every Halloween they have Mummies and Milkshakes where they show Abbot and Costello Meet the Mummy and serve milkshakes -- it's one of our family traditions.

I don't know how people work the night shift. I'd be miserable.

Oh, I can't WAIT to get to the posts about Bret's wig. That show seriously cracks me up! He's so pathetic (and so are those girls) that its actually funny.

ExBF posts are always entertaining, too. I think I may have to skip over the NKOTB posts, though. That's just not my thing. (Surprise, surprise, huh??)

Oooooo, I LOVE ancient Egyptian whatnot! Very exciting.

Okay, up to page 5 - I'm on a roll!!
As you know, I had gallbladder surgery on Tuesday afternoon. Well, the surgery didn't go quite as my surgeon expected. They ended up having to do some scans and xrays during surgery because they wanted to make sure one of the ducts didn't interfer with liver function. So, the surgery that was suppose to last an hour lasted 2! :scared1:

When I finally woke up, I was quite out of it. I got morphine and anti nausea meds intravenously and found out I have 5 abdominal incisions. Luckily, the inscisions are quite small because I had laproscopic surgery. Within 2 hours or so in the recovery room, I was feeling great and ready to go home. With a prescription for percoset and instructions to make a post-op appointment, I was on my way home to relaxin in my own bed. Or so I thought...

On the way home, I stopped to fill my prescription. As I was waiting for the percoset, I started to feel dizzy and nauseous. By the time I got home, I the nauseous feeling wasn't a feeling anymore. It was nonstop all night. This led to a trip to the Lenox Hill ER yesterday morning. I got more morphine, anti-nausea drugs, and a visit from my surgeon.

Finally, I can say that I'm feeling much better. There is some minor discomfort from the incisions, but that's what the percoset is for. Last night I was way to loopy to update :lmao:

So now that I'm back, I'm ready to continue planning my trip again!

Up Next: Garden Grill Photos and ADRs!

I feel your pain. That stuff they give you to put you to sleep makes me sick EVERY time. And morphine - INSTANT VOMIT. Sorry, I'm a TMI kinda girl.:goodvibes Glad you're doing better now, though.
Here are some photos of T at the Garden Grill in Epcot in June 2007.
We have lunch here every trip and LOVE it. The character interaction is great and the food is good. Plus, I love that this restaurant rotates through a scenes from the Living with the Land boat ride.

He is a total cutie pie. Tell him to call me in about 25 years. Wait, I'll be too old to care then.
We're doing the deluxe dining plan again. We tried it for the first time in January and loved it. Since we hate waiting in CS lines and trying to find a seat, it made the most sense. Plus, we aren't really worried about the amount of time it takes to eat. My nephew takes his time anyway :lmao: If this were my first visit, I would NEVER attempt to eat at this many table service places. It would waste prime touring time.

So here are our ADRs:

August 9th
Morning flight from NY
Lunch: CS or Room Service - - We're not sure exactly when we'll arrive at the CR, so we didn't want to make an ADR.
Dinner: Chef Mickey's

August 10th
Breakfast: Chef Mickey's
Lunch: Teppan Edo
Dinner: Brown Derby Fantasmic Dinner Package

August 11th
Breakfast: Kona
Lunch: Garden Grill
Dinner: Liberty Tree Tavern

August 12th
Breakfast: Cinderella's Royal Table
Lunch: Plaza Restaurant
Dinner: San Angel Inn

August 13th
Breakfast: Tusker House
Lunch: Yak & Yeti
Dinner: 1900 Park Fare

August 14th
Breakfast: Crystal Palace
Lunch: Whispering Canyon Cafe
Dinner: California Grill

August 15th
Breakfast: 1900 Park Fare
Lunch: 50's Prime Time
Dinner: Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

August 16th:
Breakfast: Kona
Lunch: Plaza Restaurant
Flight back to NY

I haven't changed any of our ADRs since I made them at the 180+10 mark last month. I'm not sure about doing Chef Mickey's twice, which would just be out of convenience since we'll be at the CR. I'm also not sure about San Angel or Teppan Edo. And I'm thinking of switching one breakfast at Kona to Ohana.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Advice?
I think it looks good. Now I'll have to catch up to see if you're like Scott and constantly change your ADRs.

Thanks for the info! That could be a nice alternative to Chef Mickey's.

We had dinner at Chef Mickey's in January. It was ok, not spectacular. I wonder if it's better for breakfast.
::yes:: It is better for breakfast. I don't think after the last experience we had there that we'll ever go back for dinner.

My class loves it too. They're totally wrapped up in it.

Cool!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

That sounds like fun. I need to visit Atlanta in the fall.

I'm actually thinking of getting a wig from his collection for the 70s party I have to go to this summer.

I'm pretty much the same. My family is usually mortified by my TMI comments.

Thanks!!! My nephew's cuteness allows him to get away with a lot :lmao:

I am not like Scott. At least not yet. I have made one change, but not sure about others.

Dinner at Chef Mickey's is not spectacular. I'm glad to hear breakfast is better.

Yes, and then you can come to Mummies and Milkshakes with us! :thumbsup2

Have you made your hotel reservations for Atlanta in May yet?

I won't be going to IRA :sad1: , but we should make plans for getting together.

Unfortunately, I can't go to IRA this year. I'm knee deep in work at school. Plus the new parents reception is that week, so that means no convention for me. I'm a little sad about it :sad2: Maybe next year.

That's pretty much my problem too -- end of the year is just crazy this year for us.

Here's my funny about fifth grade parent night that we have every year. We got the email the other day that it would be May 7th from six to seven. Of course I have to be there wearing my "pretty" clothes and my "Tour Guide Barbie" smile. So, I grumbled a little, and then I suddenly realized: "Wait! Chelsea is going to be in sixth grade next year -- she'll need to come, too!" I had totally forgotten/was in denial about her needing to go that night. I can't believe she will be in middle school in a couple of months! :scared1:

Made it to page 35 where I found this...
I did it. I made my first change to my ADRs. Since I had two ADRs for Kona (breakfast), I decided to ditch one of those and add Ohana's Best Friend Breakfast. So on August 16th, we'll have breakfast there before check out.

I'm excited about trying Ohana for breakfast. We had dinner there in January and absolutely hated it. The potatos and bread pudding was great, but the meats were dry and the service was the worst we experienced. We will NEVER go there for dinner again. I think our horrible experience really had to do with our horrible server.

I'm still debating Coral Reef. But I'm not sure which ADR I should switch. I'm also concerned about Whispering Canyon Cafe and California Grill. I love sushi, but I'm not sure this will meet expectations. And I'm worried about the Spirit of Aloha show. I hope T will enjoy it. I hope the food is good.

On a different note, the apartment hunting was successful. So successful that I found two apartments and can't decide. I filled out the application at one. I wasn't able to take pictures because the entire kitchen is being renovated. And the bathroom is being renovated as well. I'll wait until it's all ready and then I'll take pics :thumbsup2

I know lots of people who like O'hana. I've never been there, so I can't really comment on it. Too bad you didn't like your dinner there, though.

I've also heard good things about Coral Reef. But, I've heard bad, too. WCC is one that I have been to and pretty much all of us liked it. Never been to CG either, but I've heard more good than bad about it. My mom and sister went to the Spirit of Aloha show. They both liked it, but they weren't really impressed with the food. Is T very picky?

   105 days until Disney

We are almost at the 100th day mark! And we'll be in double digits by the end of next week!!!!
Yay Yay Yay!!! Me tooooo!!!!!

I love your new siggy. Tanya does it again! :)

Thanks for the beginning of the mini-TR for Williamsburg. Fun!

I have to ask (and I'm not asking in a rude way)...what makes the kids that you both teach "gifted"? especially the 5 year olds?

Back in my day it was the kids who could read very well, the kids who could read and the kids that read not so good.

Jen - in celebration of our 105 days, I found this for you!
