*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

I'm going to respond to everyone a little bit later. There's loud drumming in the hall and I'm going for a latte. I feel like there's banging in my head!!!
Have fun!! :lmao: Sounds like your really going to need a Vodka cranberry tonite!

For your next trip, try one of the Epcot Resorts....BWI, BC, BCV, Swolphin, BWV, YC.....

TGJ.

You might want to try Small World Vacations (I don't know the website address) they specialize in WDW vacations.

You're much more organized!
hehe.. thanks for that... I put on a good show ;) it's really only my disney obscession that's organized hehe

Thanks for your suggestions everyone!!! It looks like we're going to stick with the CR. Next summer, when we return for my nephew's first birthday I'm going to look at resorts other than the CR and Poly. I'll consider the GF, WL, AKL, BWI, and BC, & BCV.

As of right now, for a possible October trip, the Dolphin, POR, & POFQ are on my lists. While I love the deluxe resorts, I cannot justify spending more money just for a quick weekend trip.

We have AAA and I have never booked a package through them. Does anyone know a good AAA agent? The one I met in NYC was HORRIBLE, so I decided to go directly to Disney.
Woot... CR :woohoo: I would go for POR for your Oct trip... I am sure scott will agree hehe

I don't have AAA so I can't help ya there...

:rotfl2: I can just see you sitting there on the monorail with your pineapple sitting in your lap! :rotfl:

POFQ is my favorite moderate! :lovestruc

I have never done anything with AAA. :(

I could always bring T's stroller and fill up the Maclaren with Lapu Lapus. I wonder if there's a stroller cup holder large enough to fit a pineapple :scratchin

What's the difference between POFQ and POR?

My AAA agent is not the best in the world either :confused3 She basically booked my package and that was it last year. A guy I work with, his wife is big in the travel industry, and she said that AAA ususally always has the best discounts for Disney, that is why I booked with them. Sure enough they did get the best discount out there, I got about 5 different quotes when I looked for my first trip. I am really tight with my money and will not spend more than I have to. I have heard people talk about how their agent booked the ADRs and stuff like that. Maybe it is AAA in general, they only book the package for you. That or we both have bad AAA agents.

When free dining came out last year, she didn't know anything about it. I had to tell her, but when you do the free dining, AAA no longer can give you the AAA discount, so its just as cheap to do it with Disney directly.

However; I may be getting an annual pass this year, so I will just start doing it all myself. Perhaps you can do the same. Just use them to get the discount and do the stuff yourself.

Oh and about other resorts, I love the look and feel of the WL. Even tough I have only stayed at the values, I am way to cheap all of my friends say. I'm trying to break the idea of DVC to WL to my partner :rotfl2: Or maybe the Kingdom Tower when it goes on sale. LOL. I'm sure he will say no to both

The AAA agent I visited last year in NYC was as helpful as a rock.
I don't know if I'd trust an agent to do ADRs. I can be somewhat of a control freak when it comes to things like that. I won't even let my family do them because I'm afraid they won't do it right :lmao:

I'm really really considering DVC, especially Kingdom Towers, too.

I hope your partner agrees!

You definately should give WL a try sometime, it's very beautiful and has a wonderfully chilled out vibe:goodvibes

I think WL may be an option for my nephew's first birthday July 2009. I know, he's not even born yet and I'm trying to figure out how to get him to Disney ASAP. It's a sickness I tell you!

:yay: for staying with Contemporary.
:woohoo: go for POR. I loved it.
:sad2: 63rd st. AAA is not very knowledgable of Disney that is why I did it myself.

Your pics of POR really convinced me that I need to stay there at least once. As of right now, I'd like to try all of the deluxes and moderates. I have to convince the princess side of me to try the values :rotfl2:
Also, keep in mind, I'm not paying for any of this :lmao:

For your October trip, I vote for the Dolphin with the educator's discount! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
And the beds truly are "heavenly"....:cloud9:

I'm definitely taking advantage of that discount. And I agree about location. It's sooo close to Epcot and DHS.

I really want to. I'd love to go to the Food & Wine Festival and stay at one of the Epcot resorts.

How did you find the transportation to the MK? My nephew loves MK, so we spend quite a bit of time there.

You might want to try Small World Vacations (I don't know the website address) they specialize in WDW vacations.

Thanks Heidi. I'm going to look them up.

Disney obsessions are the best kind to have :thumbsup2

I have to try POR at least once!!! My dad's from Louisiana. I wonder if he would enjoy it.

I like AAA, but the NYC travel agents stink!

Our school calendar is finalized. There's a change of plans. More coming real soon (after my dessert :lmao: ).

I could always bring T's stroller and fill up the Maclaren with Lapu Lapus. I wonder if there's a stroller cup holder large enough to fit a pineapple :scratchin

:rotfl2: Now, wouldn't that be funny -- taking a pineapple into a baby store to find a cup holder large enough!

What's the difference between POFQ and POR?

They are sister resorts so you can use the amenities for both of them. POR is themed with big mansions and POFQ is themed more like the French Quarter of New Orleans. We like POFQ because it is small and no matter what building you are in, it is a short walk to the pool and the main buildings. It is very peaceful and quiet. There is a boat that goes from POR to POFQ to DD.

The values aren't as bad as I envisioned. I never thought I would like them, but staying at Pop Century last October was quite fun. The kids loved it.

I really want to. I'd love to go to the Food & Wine Festival and stay at one of the Epcot resorts.

That's our tentative plan for October -- of course, knowing me I won't be able to justify the price and we will end up back in a moderate.

POR was beautiful-- we visited there when we took the kids to the pirate cruise and I would stay there in a minute! Let us know what you decide,

<----waits pateintly for the NEWS!!!!:rolleyes1 :goodvibes

I'm going to Buy Buy Baby tomorrow :goodvibes I need my Lapu Lapu holder.

I want to try the values. I'm just nervous that it'll be too small.

What was dessert?

Vanilla ice cream that I microwaved it. I like soft ice ice cream :lmao:

I want T to do the pirate cruise.
