*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

2 things:

1. We're staying at POFQ in Oct.---the 24th-26th.

2. I'm going to the IRA Convention! :woohoo: My wonderful principal "found" the money, and I'm so excited! Now I've just gotta figure out which hotel to stay in!

1. If I go, I'd be there over Columbus day weekend.

2. Congrats on the IRA Convention. We have to meet up!!! I'm so excited for you. I'd love to hear about your experiences with gifted ed.

I cannot decide on a hotel either. I want something close. I don't want to rent a car. Atlanta isn't ready for my driving :lmao:

I am all caught up again! Great shoes! Love the t-shirt! Can't wait to hear what you decide about October!

Brittbritt, you're coming to the ATL too for IRA!?

Thanks!!!

We have to all get together for drinks in Atlanta!!!

Sorry for hijacking! :upsidedow

Yes, May 4th-8th! I was able to register today and sign up for some FABULOUS sessions. You should come at least for a day. I was overwhelmed by the amount of awesome sessions available.

I think I'm narrowed down to the Marriott Marquis or the Sheraton...Anyone ever stayed in these hotels in Atlanta?

No problem! I'm so happy someone else here is going to the same convention.

I've stayed at the Marriott Marquis in NYC and loved it. I've stayed at the Sheraton in Cambridge, MA and loved that one even more. The Sheraton is fabulous.

I'm trying to convince my principal that a stay at the Four Seasons is in order :rotfl:

Here's Riley....he's 8 years old and his white chocolate is showing !!

To keep it On Topic...can you find the hidden Mickey in the above picture???

Your dogs are so cute. I love the white chocolate :rotfl: Now I really want a chocolate lab. I cannot pass any pet stores tomorrow :rotfl2:

The hidden Mickey is Riley's tag on his collar :thumbsup2

A friend of mine stayed at the Mariott Marquis...he really liked it. I think someone else that we visited stayed at the Sheraton...is it across the street from the Mariott? If so, that's got a REALLY pretty lobby! hope this helps!:rotfl:

Born and raised in the ATL and have lived here all my life except for the 8 years I was away at undergrad and staying in other states. The Mariott Marquis is nice. The Sheraton is nice too. I guess I pass by the hotels everyday so I can't get too excited but check out tripadvisor's website and decide from there. But I will be at the Mariott Marquis on the 3rd of May for a Mother/Daughter Brunch Banquet.

Jenn, make your ressies!!!!!!

I have to do that before the weekend is over. I am being so undecisive. Plus, I need to book my plane tickets. Isn't Atlanta one of Delta's hubs?

I've never been to Atlanta. I'm excited to see the city.

I cannot stay for the last day of the convention :sad2:
I have to fly back to NYC on May 7th because we have a new parent reception on May 8th that I cannot miss.

Right now, I should be writing all about my teaching preferences for next year. Am I doing that? Noooooooooo. I'm reading trip reports in one window and have expedia in another window :rotfl:

Yes, we are one of the Hubs. I guess I laugh when people tell me they are excited to see the city. :lmao: But it's beautiful!!!!!

There is a city, right? :rotfl2:

I liked Atlanta a lot. I loved Centennial Olympic Park...beautiful aquarium....I wish I could have gone to the Coke place...seemed cool. I went to a braves game....(shudder, as a Mets fan, that was tough), but it was a beautiful stadium! I wish I was going back this year! :)

LOL. Yes, my city is the bomb girl. Just like the NYC. :lmao: I love my city!!!!

I can't wait to see Atlanta.

I wonder if they'll be lots of goodlooking shirtless men (like my trainer) at this convention. What are the odds that they'll be shirtless teachers walking around Atlanta?

Definitely want to head over to the aquarium.

Coke as in Coca Cola? Not the kind that goes up your nose? :lmao:

Hey, maybe they'll have Lapu Lapu's there! :lmao: j/k I'm cracking myself up.

I'm going to bring my pineapple corer and make Lapu Lapus served in a pineapple in my hotel room. That is if I ever RESERVE a hotel room :rotfl:

I'm excited about the Contemporary too! I remember always wanting to stay there as a kid. I think T will love watching the monorail zip through the building.

I always wanted to stay at the CR too. I remember going WDW when the CR was the only hotel there. I was jealous of the kids that were able to stay there. I'm telling my age. I turned 40 Saturday! Loving your Pre-TR!!

P.S. Hope you are feeling better from the surgery.

I hope the CR lives up to my expectations. I really want to try AKL next. That resort seems amazing.

Happy birthday!!!

I loved the AKL but I am the type of person that loves to try new things so I am thinking about the CR for my next trip (along with about 10 other places). I can't wait to hear about your stay. I know you are excited. I can feel the excitement oozing out of this Pre-Trippie!
