I have only been loosely following the situation with the trapped miners in Chile. I am sending lots of prayers and thoughts to them that all are able to get out okay. I can not even imagine what they and their families are going through.

I really want to watch all of them come out safely, but it sounds like it will be well into the night before anything happens. I am a sucker for this kind of live news, especially when a happy ending is predicted. I sure hope that all goes as they hope and there are no problems.

Anyone else glued to their TV's tonight?

Watching it on the Spanish channel while my wife has her Rosary going full speed. :thumbsup2

I've been watching off and on all night. I am a news junkie, so I'll probably be up most of the night watching!

i was watching i before and will watch again after Glee...

I was not following the story too closely.... even thinking about it tonight is making me anxious.

A bit earlier they show clips of several women brushing their hair and getting ready to see their loved ones!! it was sweet

I am! This reminds me of the Que Creek mine rescue back in 2002. I fell asleep with CNN on that night and happened to wake up as the first miner was being pulled to safety. I didn't get any more sleep that night and I doubt that I will tonight either. I'm am praying and thinking positive thoughts for a happy ending for all of them!

I have prayed for the miners & their families from the begining. But tonight you just wish the time could fly by & they could be safe. So close & yet so far, is how I am feeling.

All of the above! I pray they all make it out OK. I want to stay up and watch it all too, but I can barely make it to midnight on New Year's Eve. I think I read it will take an hour per miner, and there are 33 of them.

I have been checking online news sites as our cable is out.

I have been watching CNN on and off all evening. I'll probably be up all night watching the miners come out one by one. I'm a sucker for this stuff too. I can't wait to see the emotion once that first miner surfaces. The anticipation is killing me. I can't even begin to imagine how the miners and their loved ones are feeling. I'm praying that they all make it out safely and without incident.

I have a hard time thinking about it b/c I get all claustrophobic and breathless...but have to remind myself that these guys are already stronger than I am in that way b/c they were able to be miners in the first place...so I'll check out the news...but I can't think about it too deeply...

Yeah...I think that's all that's on at the moment on every channel in Chile, and every office, store, classroom, etc. that I passed today had the national news channel on.

I figure I might as well stay awake, because as soon as the first miner makes it up, the car horns, cheering, and singing will wake me up anyway ;).

The anticipation has been palpable today, and I am so proud of my temporary home and countrymen. My thoughts and heart go out to the miners and their families.

It has been just amazing to see the strength of these miners to endure this for so long, as well as their families and the rescuers.

Looking forward to your first hand account when this is over with and hopefully successful.

I'm watching. My DH is at work ans he sent me the link to the live feed on the internet in case FOX and CNN stop covering it. It'll be hard getting up early tomorrow morning but I'm going to be watching as long as I can keep my eyes open.

Oh lord I don't think I would be able to handle being in that tiny cage capsule!!! I would be lose my mind with claustrophobia! I would need sedation to get into that, seriously.

Definitely! Bedtime here, it's 11:30pm, but I've got the TV turned toward the bed, and will be leaving the TV on all night.
I don't work til midday, so fingers crossed there will have been several brought up safely by then.

I just don't have the words to express all the feelings & emotions!

I am watching, I hope it turns out well. Right now they are having door problems,oh they fixed it. The first rescuer guy is going down!

The first rescuer is getting into the capsule.

Watching and waiting here too. I will keep the TV on all night! Hopefully I won't miss it when they bring the first one up! Fingers are crossed, prayers being sent!

I am glued to the TV---they are sending the first rescuer down into the mine right now----I have to stay up to at least see one of the miners coming out!!
