Child's menu question

Will the table services restuarants let an adult order off the children's menu? I don't mean under the dining plan....just regular ordering.

In the past my mom has ordered off of many children's menus and never been questioned. I have been reading lately, however, that some people are being charged double to eat off the child's menu. It seems that as usual, this depends on the CM you deal with, though.

I can't vouch for any other restaurant but I had trouble 2 years ago at Teppanyaki when my DD15 and DDBF15 wanted to order from the kid's menu. The server really didn't like that but allowed it and said it wouldn't be allowed next time. I didn't even try last year.

I don't have much experience with Disney dining but I did order off the chilrden's menu at Concourse Steakhouse.My SIL and MIL also did.It was no problem and were charged the children's price.

They should. In fact I believe all restaurants should, because the regular portions cost a fortune and are HUGE. I don't see why it should be a big deal to order a smaller portion, especially given the "obesity epidemic" we have in this country. So many people are trying to lose weight, and going to a restaurant while on a diet can be difficult. Often I eat 1/3 of the entree and eat the rest for lunch for 3 days. At least I get my $'s worth.

I do this all the time because I'm not a big eater. Never had a problem and never been charged twice. Why should they? It's the same amount of food.

If you feel uncomfortable about doing this, you could always just ask your server if a hamburger or grilled cheese or whatever is available but not listed on the menu. My veggie friend got a veggie burger at the 50s Prime Time Cafe by ordering a turkey sandwich without the turkey. She was offered lots of veggie options that weren't on the menu but could be made.
