Children at DVC

With all due respect to maburke (two autistic children, wow!), as parents we do have ultimate control over our children's whereabouts during the day; point being, just as DVC isn't for everyone, maybe staying ALL DAY at the parks isn't for everyone, either! As was pointed out by lenshanem earlier in this thread, WDW does tend to play on children's weaknesses. Yes, park passes are expensive. However, I think I just didn't get until recently that expecting children to do what most adults find difficult (namely, spending all day at the parks, in crowds and lines, with little rest and possibly in the hot sun) really isn't fair to them; just because the tickets are expensive so "let's use every second possible, we are going to see and do it all" -- no wonder the kids get cranky! I think WDW does do a good job offering entertainment around the resorts, and obviously, DVC even more so. Thus, the reason I am happy I purchased! (Also, the reason I am considering purchasing AP's for our next trips -- so I won't have a penny-pinching heart attack when we don't stay all day on our PHP and come back for naps and dinner!)

Desperado< Lenshanen etc... I was not not talking metaphorically. That was the honest to god true description of the man.
I swear on Walt himself no satire involved. I was honestly saying what he looked like. Sorry I wish I could have cleared that up earlier.... ( I was putting my wild rugrats to bed and missed all this)
The banter between desperado and myself was all in good fun. But scouts honor the description is the truth.::yes::

One of the reasons we like DVC so much is the ability to retreat from the parks after lunch and take a nice nap. Our little ones, ourselves and grandparents all appreciate the nice mid-day break. We don't mind saying good bye to the afternoon crowds either.

This has been one of the most interesting, funny, and shocking threads I have ever read on the DVC board! Interesting that the OP got out early!

I am "old" by Disney standards. I love to see children at WDW, since mine are "old" now too. Did they ever behave like Dizny FN's? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I too have one who was and is less than normal (Cerebral palsy), but that is obvious, and was never an issue. When our kids were kids, they often commented on bad behaviour by other, less parented kids. Teaching them "self respect" also teaches them to respect others, amd vice versa.

This barely had anything to do with DVC, and it's only gotten worse.

If you want to debate, please feel free to begin anew on the debate board.
