Childfree Disney fans?

Today my sister, (who I have a great relationship with) said to me "aren't you embarrassed to go to Disney and not have any kids?" I was shocked. My poor, poor sister. She really doesn't know what she is missing. I am gonna have to try to talk her into going. FYI-- I told her that the only thing I was embarrased about was the fact that my own sister was so uneducated about the joy of Disney. ;) We laughed about it-----but I will convert her one of these days!

I posted that DH and I are child-free on this thread many pages ago, but I wanted to share a story that many of those who are child-free will appreciate.

A friend of mine recently went to Florida with her DH and DS (age 16 months). They spent a few days at WDW. When reporting how her trip was, she said that she and her DH laughingly said to each other, "Disney is not a place to bring kids!" They were so exhausted caring for their DS, that they did not fully enjoy WDW as much as they had before they had a child!

No kids, just a husband and a beloved dog (and 2 ungrateful cats!).

WDWguru, where are you getting your definitions of "child-free" and "child-less?" I was not aware of the strict distinction that you are making, and I don't think I could really say which I am!

Beatnik

DH and I are nearing retirement age. 5 kids all grown and married. Also have 6 grandkids. DH doesn't like traveling much with little kids, so I go with the kids sometimes and DH stays home. But the BEST WDW vacations are when DH and I go alone!
My most memorable trip was for our 25th anniversary. Maybe we'll get there for our 50th, who knows!

Not to get picky, and I definitely want to keep this great thread going with its intended tone, but technically you are not childfree. The term very specifically refers to those who do not want children and have chosen not to have them.
That's ME! Never had any, never wanted any! I DID take my nephew to Disneyland regularly while he was growing up, starting when he was about 4. He knew how to behave and it was a pleasure. But looking around at others nowadays, I agree with Krissalee that for some parents it is an exhausting chore "doing the parks" with their children. They should try it alone at least once to relax and enjoy!

BTW - My nephew is now 35 and we still do Disney together when he isn't flying (airline pilot), only now it is WDW since I live in FL. I am at the parks every week or more either solo or with another adult. I also cruise DCL (will be 9 times by Oct. 11) that way. Disney "just for kids"? No way!

My DH and I are blissfully childFREE (not counting furry and feathered "children"). Disney is fantastic for CF couples, our only complaint is that there are too many kids! Our Disney trips are always full of romance and fun. In less than a month, we are making a mega-trip with two other adult couples - 2 nts at AKL, then a 7-day land/sea at the Poly/Wonder. Woo-hoo!

Welcome to the Adult/Solo Board, EK Thomas I'll be cruising with DD on the Wonder 10/19-10/23 and then 3 days back at WDW. It's a great time to be there (love F&W at EPCOT)

Child free at our house.....and love Disney......and especially trips to WDW......I am probably a bigger fan than my husband......but he loves to see that Disney magic smile I get. He knows a trip to WDW means riding the Teacups and catching the tallest horse hitched outside the castle. That man came twirl a teacup!! The dog and cat occasionally enjoy a Disney DVD with me....

Hi, everyone! I have to say it's been a pleasant surprise to see how this thread keeps growing. :) And, yes, as the orginator of this thread, I was specifically interested in hearing from those who have *not* parented, nor have any plans to do so in the future. (beatnik, you can check out Childless or Childfree? for an article on defining the difference between childless and childfree.)

25, no husband, no boyfriend, just a super sweet and loving cat named patches, and planning a solo trip this coming april....

Childless and happy here! We're celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary On our trip. We're VERY excited!

Interesting thread! DH and I are childfree and enjoy Disney VERY much. We spent a week at WDW in Sept. and are going back in Dec. for our annual holiday trip. The World is beautiful any time of the year, but it is extra magical at Christmas.

:earsgirl:

Yee haw! DH and I just bought Florida Resident Seasonal Passes--they are good for one year and exclude Spring Break, 2 months during the summer (when I would never go anyway due to the heat) and Dec. 18- Jan1.

Being childfree, we don't have to worry about scheduling vacations when the kids are out of school, so the seasonal pass is perfect for us! I am SO excited.

Can you believe I've lived in FL since DisneyWorld opened and have only been to the Magic Kingdom twice and Epcot twice??? I need to make up for lost time!

My kids are 26 and 30. And I am pleased to report that I raised them right. When they go on holiday they head to Disney with their SO.:smooth:

And as much as I loved every trip taken with them as children, the adult trips are equally fun.

no kids here. not for a few years anyway. wait, should i be counted as a kid being that i act like one in wdw? :upsidedow

I'm no fool, no sir-rey, I'm 26 and totally kid free! ::yes::
I'm too much of a kid myself, I couldn't imagine adjusting my Disney time for children.

We're also DINKs.

And we're DISNOIDs. AND we both work for the same company- and EVERYONE there knows who to come to for DISNEY information.

We're almost the joke of the company because of our addiction.... but WE DON'T CARE!!!!

We're DINKs, too, and we are leaving in 2 days for a childfree 4 days at all the Disney parks! Can't wait!!:wave2:
