Childfree Disney fans?

Little did I know that when I started this thread early this year that it would be like the Energizer bunny...it keeps going...and going...and going. <g> Really it has been a pleasant surprise to see that we're such a large contingent. (Are you paying attention, Disney? ;) )

In the time since I started this thread, a local No Kidding! chapter has started to grow and thrive. I really recommend that childfree folks check it out, if you're not already a member. (See http://nokidding.net/) One of the funny commonalities developing within the group is that almost everyone either is really into pets and/or are Disney fans!

<b>SamS</b> You are going to enjoy hearing "Welcome Home" every time you visit a DVC resort. I hope you have a fabulous time on your upcoming visit and all the DVC vacations you'll take (can you tell I'm a very happy DVC member?).

DH and I have been married 8 years and are childfree by choice. We have 2 wonderful Godsons and an awesome neice and nephew that we enjoy spoiling rotten! (yep, we have take them to WDW) DH and I go to WDW at least twice a year and love every minute of it. It's great to see so many other "big kids" on the boards.

You can add DH and me to the "childfree" (by choice) list. We do also have furry kids -- four feisty felines who live the good life with their sitter while we visit WDW.

Great thread, BTW!:teeth:

Our kids are grown, 20 and 22. We own DVC and love going sans kids. I love Disney and my girls kind of do, but there's nothing like enjoying WDW with just the two of us. I look forward to, someday, showing my grandkids WDW, but, right now, I love it with just us. Very relaxing vacations. We'll be back for our fourth "adult only" trip in September.

DH and I are childfree and petfree, and both of us are big Disney fans. We have a bunch of nieces and nephews, and I often work with kids in recreation programs. We love kids, and that really confuses people.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it's nice to see that there are so many people in a similar situation.

No kids here!! I usually get my Disney fix with different friends and family members (even borrow the kids if I feel the need) but this year, for the first time, I've decided to try it solo.

I get to do what I want to do!!!:p

I've been doing Disney solo on all my trips down here to WDW. You will love it. Be sure to do at least one Charactor meal. The charactors have fun with the solo's. Goofy sat with me at Liberty Tree tavern.

I'm actually looking forward to friends visiting me here in Florida so I can go to WDW with others and experience it through their eyes too.

No SO, no kids, no nothing...just a bunch of family and friends who think I'm a wack because I have an annual pass to Disneyland and go solo. The only reason I don't have one for WDW is the distance...:p

Hey, lonegungirl, at least up until early February of this year, I had both a WDW AP and a DLR AP, and I'm in California! ;) (We used the plan of buying the AP voucher for one trip, getting the room discount, and then came back again just before the passes expired.)

LOL. I thought of that too, but I got on the recipe card promotion for the Swan, so didn't need the resort discount. I still may, as we'll be there for around 7 days this trip...if I can convince myself I can afford to go back within a year, it would probably be cheaper than hoppers...

Oh well--at least Jetblue is starting to offer cheaper fares out of Long Beach...:smooth:

My DH has two sons, my stepsons, but we do not have custody. We have gone with them and without them to WDW, and enjoy both equally!

I have two children grown 23 & 21.. May of "04" will be our second trip to Disney with out the kids. We took them in 90 & 97 and first kid free trip in 2000...and what a blast we had. looking forward to our next kid free trip.

My DW and I are DINKS (Double Income, No Kids). We are both big-time Disney fans. Gotta love the Mouse!! :p

Ha ha! Check my profile -- I'm a "SINK!" However, my furry kids do tie me down a bit, or else I'd be at WDW every week!!

I know that there are some posters in this particular forum who may have children but are opting to travel alone, with just their SO, or some other adult. We've been referring to "kidfree" trip reports, but I'm curious how many posters are childfree?

We are going on 10years of marriage and are childfree by choice. We are also big Disney fans. See sig. below of list of trips. No kids needed to be a fan of vacationing at WDW.

lonegungirl I go to DL by myself with my AP all the time. It's nice to do what I want when I want and not have to consult with anyone. Oh and in keeping with this thread I am childless, husbandless, boyfriendless, petless...just me:)

I went to the BCV this year with my husband and our two friends. My husband and I are in our late 20's and our friends in their mid 30's and none of us have kids and don't plan to have any either (though I often joke that I have 27 as I am a primary school teacher!!) We all love Disney and have trips planned to DLP next Easter and WDW the year after at Christmas. We would never be able to do this with kids.:p:teacher:

P.S What is it about childless couples and cats?? Both my husband and I and our friends have 2 cats each (who we treat like our kids!!) We have 3 rabbits too!!

We're child free, just a 9 months old Old English Sheepdog who wishes she could go to Disney but might be accused of chewing tiggers tale. (and I don't think he'd like that!!):p

I posted back in early June, about a week before my wife and I went to WDW as a couple for the first time without son or grandchildren. It was a blast. No itinerary (APs), afternoon naps occasionally, much relaxation. We are DVC owners and had promised a trip next June with son, daughter-in-law, and our two grandchildren. We couldn't very well tell them that we'd changed our minds, so instead we bought more points, and are staying 2 weeks - one with them, and finishing the trip with a week alone!

Well, the first half of our party left today (the part with the children)--much trauma and fighting, apparently. The father commented that the trial of getting everyone packed and organized into the car to get to the airport was worse than anything...including various bone fractures.

While I'm sure you miss out on a lot of joy and happiness by not having kids, it does seem like life is a good deal simpler at times...:earsgirl:
