Childfree Disney fans?

I too am child-free (no pets). Although I have gone to WDW with my young nephews & family, I have gone to WDW many times solo and enjoy it just as much. I love going with family to see things through their eyes, but I have a great time too when I go solo. There's a little more freedom on a solo trip. You get to go where you want, when you want. You can ride an attraction 6 times in a row if you want or avoid attractions all together. You get to dine where and when you want. You can try some really grat sit-down meals. You can get up early or sleep in late. You can go for a late night swin or sit in a hot tub and sip a cold drink under the stars. Don't get me wrong, I love going with family, but child-free trips have their advantages too, even at WDW! I'm the Disney obessed one in the family (movies, music, tons of Mickey Mouse & WDW all over my room & computer room). I'm Auntie Disney to my nieces & nephews!

Well my DBF and I are child-free and petless, I so want pets and the house/pet-sitter to go with them.

Neither of us have ever really wanted kiddies but we're very child friendly and love our neices and nephews. We'd gladly take them to WDW as long as their parents pay for them

BTW - I'm currently job-free and I love having so much more time to plan WDW trips shame I'm not getting paid for it

My "kids" are 35 & 37----I have a feathered kid -----and 22 second graders in my charge during the school year---going to teach ESL Pre-K this summer...........I get my fill of kids and then some!

Well, I am not sure if I am child-less or child-free (DH and I are still discussing, but leaning towards child-free), but I can definitely say that DH and I are currently DINKs. Except, of course, for our two sweet pugs, who I'm convinced are more wonderful than any human children could ever be!

I've been following this thread since I made the first post, but haven't replied to it in a while. I have to say that it's been a pleasant surprise to see that I am in such numerous (and wonderful!) company here! I had to laugh at one of the more recent entries that mentioned hubbies who ask "Why would someone bring children to WDW?" because my own husband sometimes says similar things! Thank you, everyone, for your responses!

Child-free here - other than the ones I teach but I get to give those back every day thank goodness Also husband free here too as a matter of fact. I get to do what I want when I want, and spend however much money I want to.

I have recently started lurking the Adult/Solo board, it's interesting to see a group like this know that Disney isn't just for kids, it's also for kids at heart! Even though we don't have kids, we still go to Character Breakfasts, watch the parades, and eat desert around midnight

Our "boys" are a Yorkie and a Cocker Spaniel (Bradley and Murphy)- and we have birthday parties for them, take their pictures, they have stockings at Christmas, etc. This is as close to kids as we're going to get for awhile (both grad students)......everytime I mention a child, DH starts asking if I'd like to get a puppy....well, we have two so far.....how many dogs can one couple have????

excited for when the nephew is big enough to go on trips with the aunt and uncle (18 mos now). For now, we go and act like kids ourselves!

Very thankful here that I am childfree there is No way I could afford 2 of us. Just looking around my office at work 3 POC sculptures on top of my monitor a 12" Jessica/Roger and a Bennie snow globe behind me. Off to my right the full fleet of Pirate theme snow globes (4) and a Johnny Seven OMA resting in the corner. Add to this 4 full size Movie posters (no Disney this Month) and a 2 boxes of various POC items for Pirate month and you get a pretty full office of a 12 year old.

I try and try to stay away from DIS until a month or two before my next trip but here I am again now looking at the calendar wondering if I can squeak in a week in May..

Oh well why fight it....it's only Money.

Hmmm... husband and I have proved that a couple can have 9 dogs successfully...

Boy, I'm glad I found this thread. My husband and I have just finished one anguishing year of trying to have a baby. In fact, this past month has been the worst of my life. The next step is in-vitro fertilization, which will wipe us out financially. And, there's no guarantee of a pregnancy, let alone a normal pregnancy.

Because I'm 39 and he is 40, we're beginning to think that maybe this is just God's plan and we weren't meant to have a child.

We have lots of kids in the family and we have plenty of love to go around, so that's not an issue.

Do any of you have the same issues? I'd love to hear your stories. It's comforting to know that there are others "just like me" out there, especially with a common love for Disney.

Well, let's see . . . technically, I'm child free and spouse free. My SO has a grown daughter (23) that I basically raised since she was 9, though. My SO and I don't live together and it's a long story about his daughter. . I won't bore you with details! She calls me "Mom" . . . I tell her she's my surrogate daughter!!

And I'm currently pet-less, but not by choice. My wonderful bassett hound Abby passed away at my feet last July 17th. I'm still recovering.

And I am so glad I decided to check out this board; I usually hang out at the Attractions & Strategies. I always kinda thought we were some of the few adults without kids at WDW. I first introduced my SO to WDW in 1990 ... he'll be going back with me in October for his 5th trip. He loves to tell people, "WDW is really for adults; it just happens to have a small kids section they call Fantasyland".

Ah, well . . . we're all kids at heart, ain't we???

My wife and I have a 34 year old son, and two grandchildren. We made the trip to WDW from PA last June and were joined by son, daughter-in-law- and grandchildren after a few days on our own. This year, wife and I are going without them, about a week from now, and we are crazed with anticipation and excitement. Coincidentally, when the kids were delayed a few extra days last year due to my son's MIL's hospitalization, we did the DVC "tour" and ended up buying two months later. We'd be thrilled to be returning to WDW under any circumstances, but are twice as excited knowing that this is just the first of many trips we'll be taking to see "The Mouse".

You are going to love it SamS. It's just a different experience to tour WDW without small children.

I love little kids but I like to travel without them, too
