unless there were uniformed guards within ear shot of every single person, making a potential trouble maker afraid to speak
Hey, we could use some of those on the Debate Board!

unless there were uniformed guards within ear shot of every single person, making a potential trouble maker afraid to speak
It's a good point,.....and you've probably learned you lesson and next time perhaps you'll refrain from yelling off the balconey without knowing the age of the person your yelling too.....Originally posted by Maistre Gracey
Captain, I guess my point is that we don't know that this person is a pervert.....

Captain, I guess my point is that we don't know that this person is a pervert. I know I would not want folks judging me on third hand, one sided information that has already been reported slightly different by the OP. (No offense to the OP, I know you are telling the story as you remember it).
I am really not sure what kind of security would have stopped this from happening.... unless there were uniformed guards within ear shot of every single person, making a potential trouble maker afraid to speak.

But overall is there adequate Vero security? Some report never seeing a guard make rounds. Some let their children play in the pool at night unattended. There's a public beach next door. Just asking. Mostly people are responding in the pro, that there is adequate security. What do others think? I see the TV monitors in the Guard shack, but I don't know what is monitored.
I don't recall ever seeing a security presence at Vero, other than in the guard shack. I am not sure if they do the plain clothes thing or not. It would be nice to periodically see uniformed security, as that shows the guests that they do indeed have security. I know Disney in general does a lot of behind the scenes security, but I'm not sure about Vero.Originally posted by CaptainMidnight

Hi, RJake1. I am certainly not trying to argue with anyone here, nor am I trying to defend a "true pervert". I do respect all opinions... I don't think you can find anywhere in this thread that anyone has called the guy on the balcony "a victim".Originally posted by RJake1
Lets see if I have this straight. A grown man - possibly drunk - invites a 12 year old girl to his room for a drink. And now HE'S the victim????
What is the next statement in defense of this guy. Probably that "she asked for it. She was wearing one of those pink Princess T-Shirts."
You make some good points.Originally posted by PamOKW
...This story is getting more and more twisted. From what I read, no one invited anyone to a room. A drunk from two stories up saw a girl on her way to the pool at 7:00 p.m. He yelled down to come on up and he'd buy her a drink. Unfortunately, it was a 12 year-old he yelled to which it made it even more offensive than just yelling at any woman. I think it was offensive and I'm sorry the child was scared. However, I still think there is no tremendous problem at Vero that is any different than any other hotel. In fact, the quick way it was handled should be a positive sign. I hate to think what goes on at PI when things really getting hopping.

Its a reflection of the culture of America that so many people are so quick to defend a person -- whom everyone agreed did not conduct himself properly -- to the exclusion of concern about the little girl. Sure, nobody came out and called him a "victim". They didn't have to. The message came across loud and clear.
While all FL beaches are public, building right next to public ingress/egress area was asking for problems. It would be an entirely different story if Disney VB was bordered by two or three upscale condos on each side. You might have some paying guests from other condos peeking in to check it out, but not the riff-raff from the street that now has such easy access.
I still can't believe they chose that site.
