I am looking for something we can use incase one of our kids gets lost. I know they have the tattoo's but we do not travel often and would never use all of them.

Any idea's to pass on?

I print out from the computer the information I want for my child - name, my name, my cell phone number, where we're staying - printed about business card size. Then I put a Disney sticker or two in the corners - laminate it, cut it out and poke a couple small holes in the top to pin it through onto their shirt (I usually put it lower on the shirt so they notice it less). If you do this- remember to round the corners, laminated corners are sharp!

It works great - and the kids love picking the Disney character they want to wear that day.

My answer is not nearly as good as the 1 before me but I like to have my kids in the same or similar color shirts. They are pretty good about staying together but sometimes it is so easy to get nudged in a crowd while entering a ride! I am not a big fan of having my kids name on their clothing/backpacks. I know Disney is much safer than being out & about on streets...but I do remember leaving The Lion King show when my daughter was 2 & the rush of people on the way out was amazing & we lost her. Thank goodness some lady saw her and was holding her hand I don't even think she spoke much english & my daughter was as calm as could be. She was only about 6 feet from us -but scary! I try to remind the kids to go to a worker & try to stay in the area we were last. Let's hope none of our children get lost!!!

When my son was younger we would take a mickey head paint chip and cut it out. I would glue two back to back. The I would write his name on 1 side and our cell phone number on the other side. I would attach to his belt loop. He knew if he got seperated to find someone with a name tag and show them the tag.

I have also done the laminated card trick. We pinned it at the bottom of the shirt in the lower rear area, pinned under the clothes but sticking out. We also told the kids it was there so they could find a CM and give it to them if needed.

Another thing I was told... take a digital picture of your kids every morning after they are dressed. That way you can show the picture without having to remember every detail of what they are wearing.

We went in May with a 2-year old and printed labels that had our names and cell phone numbers on them (we used florescent lime green shipping labels). Stuck the sticker to his back so he never really noticed and didn't try to peel it off. Carried extras in case we got wet and needed to replace.

The stickers said:

My name is XXX.
My parents are Mark and Beth.
If I am not with them, please call (phone nos)
We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

Some people say not to put the child's name on it since a bad person could use that to make the child feel comfortable with him, but we were dealing with a 2-year-old so I didn't think that was an issue for us.

The key is to get your cell phone numbers on the kids in a place where a cast member will see it, or if the child is old enough, in a place where they will remember to show the cast member.

Also, sticking the sticker on his back meant there wasn't something weird on his clothes or arm in every picture.

I have been thinking of the same subject for our upcoming trip. How about a regular self adhesive label that you can write all info. on and stick it to the back of their shirt. :confused3

:lmao: I didn't get to see your post before I posted mine. I love the idea of the bright color:thumbsup2 And bringing extras in our day bag in case child gets wet:thumbsup2

I went on ebay, and got dogtags made for all of the kids, with our resort, and our cellphone numbers - they wore them around their necks along with their lanyards.

For our trip, we went to a pet store and made a tag for $3-4 bucks that listed both my and my husband's cell phones and put it on a plastic lanyard for DS to wear around the parks. (He loved getting to make his own ID.) It was metal, so we didn't have to worry about it getting wet or torn. (I'm pretty sure I got the idea from UG for Kids. They've got lots of great suggestions.)

We lost a 6 year old after turtle talk - kids were in front, we were on the opposite side of the room. My kids know that if they get lost anywhere, to find a mom.

My youngest is 5, so I imagine that should solve part of the problem.

But each of my 3 kids will be wearing a fanny pack. I'm be sure that the contact info is in there, and that they're warned of how to find a CM should they get separated from us.

We used to bring a Sharpie. We write our cell phone number on the arm of each child. (Now my kids have Mom and Dad's cell phone numbers memorized - and know which hotel we stay at and all the rest).

We tried tags - lost after the first day. That was when we discovered the ball point pen in the hotel room could be used - and subsquently refined it with the Sharpie.

We also make our first stop our first morning a chat with a CM - its often a Mousekeeper in the hallway at the hotel, but a photo guy on Mainstreet, someone watching the turnstyles....We introduce our kids to "Mickey's Friends" and point to the white nametags that all of "Mickey's Friends" wear. If Mommy and Daddy get lost, Mickey's Friends know how to find us.

(Never needed it by the way. Still glad I did it).

Our neighbors go regularly w/their 11 yo DD. She told me they went to Petsmart and got a heart shaped dog tag w/her name & their cell numbers on it, that way, if they're not at Disney, she's got it all. she likes that it just looks like a necklace. she's old enough now she knows the numbers, but if for some reason she couldn't speak, the parents could be contacted. The next time we make a trip I will do that for my kids. We were at MK in May using the restroom. My dd4 (nearly 5) changed stalls, and then thought it was funny to hide from me. I called her name and got no answer, checked all the stalls, I thought, and began to panic. She turned up a few minutes later standing in the doorway to the ladies room screaming at the top of her lungs, but if for some reason we hadn't been nearby to hear her, she would've had our cell #'s around her neck and we could've been located quickly. I think my ds 8 would like to wear the regular dog tag kind of thing. I'll definitely do it next time.

I am planning on getting them id bracelets that say Daddy with my husbands cell numbers.
I won't put their names on the bracelet in case soemone ever stole them or "took" them, then the people can all them by their names. I don't want that.

One of our best friends works at a temporary/henna tattoo/dog tag in our local Six Flags, and she will be making up a dog tag for DS when we're in the park next week. I like theirs better than the ones I found at our local pet store since the ones from Six Flags can hold more information. DS wants the Batman ones from the pet store, but he'll just have to deal. :lmao:

Thanks for the tip. My DD is 9 and knows our cell numbers and the "plan" to have a CM take her to the front of the park if she gets lost but I never thought about the fact if she can't speak. She loves making those tags for our cat (who loses them monthly) so she will get a kick out of making them for herself.

I ordered these for our upcoming trip:

http://www.shanrene.com/custom-wristbands.php

I had my cell and DH's lasered onto them, no kids names. I got 2 for each kid. DD#1 is 12 and an adult band fits her wrist fine. DD#2 is 6 and the youth size fits her ankle fine. They will put them on when we leave for the airport to head to WDW and take them off when we land back in CT 12 days later:).

We did the dog tag thing from the kiosk at Wal-mart and put them on the kids shoes. Didn't do the necklace thing because I was afriad they might get caught on somthing or they might take them off.
