We are about to book a DVC studio stay for August. Our DS, 9, is a very adventurous eater and particularly loves steak and fish. Since we were planning to add the dining plan to our reservation, I just wondered if it would be wrong to say that he was 10 instead of 9 so that we could add the dining plan for him as an adult.

I know that, when booking free dining packages, people often increase their child's age to get the adult dining plan but, obviously, then they're paying for adult tickets as well. Just wondered whether this would be a definite no-no for DVC :confused3

I don't want to start a debate or argument, just interested to know whether this would be considered right or wrong.

I'm sure Disney doesn't care if you're going to be paying more money...upping a kids age vs. lowering it.

Personally, if my child was 9, I'd keep them that age, pay the child dining plan price--but I'd book a bunch of lunch/dinner buffets so they can eat anything off of it vs. being stuck with a kids' menu. Then they'll only have to eat 'kids food' at counter service meals.

My oldest is 11...and had paid 'adult' prices the past 2 years, but even before that, at the buffets she was eating the salmon at all the buffets.

If you don't mind the added cost of making them 10 then go for it. By the time my kids were 9 they were so sick of the kids DDP and wanted real food.

I doubt they care that you pay more for a 9 y/o as long as they are the on using the credits. However, you might look at the menus of the options you're looking at and see if there are options that might fit in. some of the places, Le Cellier for example, have a more robust kids menu. Also, they will often accommodate requests. My guess is you'd be far better off paying for the kids price and then paying OOP for the items needed. I don't know if they still do, but some signatures used to allow kids meals at half plus $1 and if they do, they might substitute.
