Chicks and Roosters...part 2

Thanks for the wake up call. It was quite loud. :yay:

I discovered that the Raid smell is my boss' lotion. Not sure that I can do anything about that. It's not a good idea to tell the woman who signs your checks that she smells like ant spray.

Happy Saturday morning to all the chicks and our unblocked rooster. Grim it's so nice to have you back!

So we made it back from vacation. It's always sad to leave. :guilty: We had a great time, ate way too much and didn't even get sunburned. Tip of the day...............you must reapply your sunscreen. :cutie:

Here is a picture of us while stopping to eat at a fabulous place right on the Bay. They had beautiful yachts outside so you could dream of how the rich people live.

Has Lori not checked in since her vacation? :confused3

Yeah! Tricia's back! What a great picture too! Your family is beautiful.
I'm so glad you had a good time.

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm doing some work for home and then I'm going to run out to the outlet stores because I suddenly need new shoes! Ok, not really, but doesn't a girl always need new shoes?

Yes, yes, yes, a girl could always use a new pair of shoes. Funny thing is we were in the Bass outlet store yesterday buying a pair of shoes for Mark for work and I saw a really cute (for guys anyway) pair of deck shoes. Of course he said he didn't need another pair. I said I know you don't need them but do you want them. :lmao: :sad2: You don't have to ask me twice! :thumbsup2

Good morning and happy Monday once again. OK, so school starts back next friday for my kids. This week will consist of finishing up the school supplies. :teacher:

I hope you all had a great weekend. I saw Mamma Mia yesterday and I loved it. It was definitely one of those feel good movies. They didn't have too many men in the theater though. :confused3

Men! Will they ever learn? :rotfl:

I love the picture of your family! :goodvibes
I can't believe how mature and grown up the girls are!

Glad you had a good time. I never like leaving at the end of the vacation too.

Good morning all!

Another Monday, another week.....

Positive way to look at it is one less week until retirement million of years from now. :rotfl:

Howdy chicks!

Welcome back from vacation Tricia! You do indeed have a lovely family. You do look like a "Tricia". Funny, your husband doesn't look grumpy at all. ;) With a family as nice as that, he should have no need for the grumpiness.

We saw Mamma Mia last week. It was definitely not the normal kind of movie I would see, being a guy and all, but I am also definitely in the target age group for a movie featuring ABBA songs. I was, am now and will forever be a huge ABBA fan. Yes, some of it was cheesy (mostly the videos were cheesy; the music is timeless), but Benny and Bjorn had a unique style of writing and quality that will probably never be seen again. I can't even begin to describe how many mid and late 70's memories I have that are associated with particular ABBA songs, which we would often listen to on our car's, yes here it comes, 8-track player. That, Star Wars, and my older brother's red AMC Gremlin pretty much defined much of the 70's for me.

We went as a family. My two DD's (almost 5 and almost 9) saw it and immediately fell in love with the music. I thought that was a little strange until I realized that I was roughly between their ages when ABBA was at their peak. We've been listening to the ABBA Gold cd a lot in our van lately. :)

As for the movie, I was pleasantly surprised, given the bad reviews. Yes, Pierce Brosnan has just an awful voice. I think I could actually sing SOS better than he did. But he sang it with a lot of heart, and that came through really well on the screen. I enjoyed it, especially because Meryl Streep helped out. Now, Meryl Streep was just awesome in it. She has a decent voice, sang the songs with the right emotions, etc. The movie may well have been horrendous had she not been in it. Her rendition of Winner Takes It All was terrific.

I'm trying to figure out if the A&A of ABBA, Agnetha and Anni-Frid, made any cameos in it. I don't recall seeing them. Anyway, they weren't really involved in the songwriting like Benny and Bjorn. Any two women could have been the singers in that group. I did see B&B in very brief cameos in it. I especially enjoyed the end, after the credits, when the three women in the movie did a send up of the Waterloo video and song.

Well, enough about Mamma Mia. I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Good morning!

Well, I didn't get the shoes I wanted but I did get a pair of Mickey Crocs at the Disney outlet for $12. I couldn't pass them up, especially since my current pair has several teeth marks thanks to my dog. :sad2:

Thanks Grim. DH isn't really "Grumpy" we just tease him because out of the five of us he is the least Disney fan of the bunch. He likes it but doesn't feel the need to go there every year like the rest of us would like. He is coming around though. I truly believe it's because the kids are older now (no more strollers) and we can all enjoy everything together. For a while there one would be scared or wouldn't meet the height requirement and we would take turns sitting out. Now everyone is at least 48" tall and we all love all the rides. We went to Disney this past February and are going back in May. I think a year and three months says something about him turning a new leaf on Disney. :thumbsup2

Hey everyone!

Tricia -love the family photo!!! And so glad you had a good vacation. My husband is the same way - he's not nearly as impressed with Disney as I am.. but we are doing the cruise next year and I think it will be that final straw (and wait until we do the "hike into the middle of the jungle" vacation that he keeps asking for... WDW will move WAY up on his list. :rotfl:

Grim - I tried to get my office managers to tell a fellow attorney that she REEKED. Seriously.. she never dry cleaned her clothing and was a good 60 pounds overweight. Office managers wouldn't tell her that everyone else thought there was a problem (afraid of offending her...?!!!!), so then people started sending her those weird nastygrams.. the ones where you spend $5 and they send a bar of soap to Ms. Stinky.

Sadly, we missed seeing Mama Mia as my friends and I are nearing 40 and had no idea that you have to buy tickets to a movie hours before it begins.

Yeah, whatever... hey look!: Netflix. :3dglasses

When I worked in DC, I shared an office with a guy who was quite OCD, even more so than me, and would never, under any circumstances, ever use the restrooms at work to do his business. The result was that he was probably close to an explosion all day every day at work, and he smelled like it. The funny thing is, the bathrooms at that office were in something of an historic building, had massive toilets that sounded like a jet engine when flushed, and were cleaned with a maniacal obsessiveness each night. I actually preferred there than home, it was so nice.

It got so bad that I ended up commiserating with another co-worker, who worked in the office next door to us, and smelled the guy every time he walked by in the hall, and could see me turning blue holding my breath. But this other co-worker also was a roommate (at his apartment) of my office mate, and knew the guy smelled much better at home, and we all know why.

He was in the perfect position to do what happened next.

He came in to our office one day in the middle of the summer, when the guy was at his ripest, and just said, in a Bronx voice he liked to use often when being funny, "You need to go down to that bathroom down the hall, sit down and get the [youknowwhat] out of your [youknowwhat]." He said it so loud he could be heard in the surrounding 2 or 3 offices. I think I actually fell out of my chair onto the floor, I was laughing so hard. To this day, it is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in real life.

And yes, it worked. The guy overcame at least a part of his OCD problem, enough to relieve himself enough that he was odor-free from then on. I'm OCD myself, in at least the hand-washing aspect of it, but this guy was sort of over the top OCD.

As for Mamma Mia, I'll probably be 40 sooner than anyone else in this thread, and we just walked up to the cinemas and bought our tickets right before the show. It was only like #3 or #4 this past weekend in box office sales, which usually should equate to getting in pretty easily.

As you can see from the picture I posted I have a sixteen year old. Move over you young ones because I had the big 40 two years ago.

Fab we didn't buy our tickets in advance either. We just walked right in and the show had lots of people but in no way was it close to being sold out.

Good morning folks.

Just getting back from a quick trip to the Library and the Video Store.

Tid bit of nothingness for you. I can't seem to ever spell restaurant correctly. Every time I type it I always have to use spell check to make sure I got it right and of course I didn't. As many times as I eat out you'd think I could spell that darn word. :confused3

Good morning. I'm not late, just time zone challenged.

Nothing to report here. My parents are having a big party next month to celebrate their 40th anniversary so I've been working on the invites. That's big fun.

I don't have a problem spelling restaurant but disappointment seems to be my challenge word these days.

Susan I'm checking on you. I heard there was an earthquake in California. I'm not sure how close it was to you. Stay safe.

It was a few hours drive south of us. We didn't even feel it. I guess some people in the area did but our brick building was nice and sturdy. Thanks for the thoughts though!

Susan, I'm glad you're okay. :flower3:

Good morning everyone!

We're taking a surprise trip to WDW on Aug 10 for a week. :yay:
