Chicago Midway question

I am planning, planning, and planning...now have a thought. We are about 3.5 hours from Midway. Flight leaves at 1:05 PM. I would love to go up the night before and pay $169 for stay, park, fly option. We would not have morning traffic to worry about. And it is only about $50 more to do this versus long term parking at airport.

So, how can I convince DH to do this? For all of you Chicago area dis members, how hectic would traffic be headed in to the airport at 8:30 - 9:00 and is long term parking easy to find? What about the shuttles to the terminal?

Sorry for all of the questions and many thanks for any advice!!!

1. Weekday vs. Weekend will depend on the answer. If you leave on the weekday and extra $50 would be worth rush hour traffic.

2. Your hotel near Midway will not be in the heart of Chicago, in fact Midway is not in the best location for a night out or sight seeing. So don't plan on wandering around and seeing the sights.

3. We always take a cab because my husband refuses to leave either of our cars in the long-term parking. He grew up right around Midway and knows what others did for entertainment.

I agree what day of the week is your flight ours leaves at 9:40 and we are a good 1 hour 1/2 away!!

Midway Park Ride and Fly is an awesome off site parking lot which we use everytime we fly out of Midway. It's about a mile north of the airport and is cheaper than onsite parking. One of the best things about them is that their shuttle follows you to where you park your car and they help you with your luggage then drop you off at the departure doors for your airline. When you return to Midway you call them before going to baggage claim and they will be waiting for you outside. Really you don't even need to call becuase they usually have shuttle buses waiting outside. The really nice part is that they drop you off right at your car. You can make reservations online. Be sure to look for discount codes because they almost always have a 10% off code.

There are a few suburban hotels that also offer a Sleep, Park, & Fly package with a shuttle to the airport. Depending on what day you are flying and what expressway you will be taking, traffic could be quite heavy - even on a weekend.

Another vote for Midway Park Ride and Fly! We park our car here every time! Excellent service and cheaper than the airport economy lot. I am about and hour away from Midway and can't help with a local hotel suggestion.
