Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

As for pitching, looking like Eddie Butler will be brought up
I read that Joe is going to move Montgomery into the rotation. He's not the best for the job, but it will give him some experience.

The way I look at it, we don't need to be the best team in baseball all season. We just have to be the best team in baseball in November.

The way they never quit last night..down 8 was reason #1908 why I love this team. Worth watching, for sure.

I am hoping we get 6 out of Jon tonight but as noted above, West will make that a challenge. While it's a feather in our cap to have a W over NY,CO~ more important to have the guys rested, injury free and full arsenal heading into STL 'cause that series DOES count. Coors stadium will be taxing enough on pitching, no need to push it.

On a side note, my radar has me on alert with Riz...I am really, REALLY hoping all is well with him. If Joe is resting guys, I wouldn't mind Anthony getting a turn.

only thing gnawing at me about making Monty a starter is until we get consistent..which we WILL do...having monty in the pen able to give 3-4 innings has been a must. Lets see what the Wizard of Boz does w Butler maybe

Heard from Robin...she was able to do my good luck superstition at Sports Corner for me :goodvibes:thumbsup2
YOU ROCK ROBIN!!!!!
To all concerned: I will never again try to do FINFAN's superstition for her. In fact, I think I will stay as far away from that table as I can from now on. I'm 0-2 at it.

Twitter titled this Broom Repellent :thumbsup2

lol..to be fair, now that I think about it, that was LAST season's table...;) Plus I couldn't get to it Opening night (had a wake) AND normally I would walk from Back to front thru Bernie's to reverse the curse, but all that no longer applies! Me thinks we need a new routine..a World Series Champion one

aaaaand the roulette wheel keeps spinning
roster moves: Grimm and La Stella are recalled; Zastryzny optioned to Iowa, Anderson to DL (low back strain)

Heyward still bothered by sore knuckle. Could help on defense.

With STL win today, we now have a 3 way tie in first, Cubs, Red's, Card's..(but WE are listed at the top :D;)) Brewers 1 game out. Mighty tight division

Ron Coomer said ball flying out of the park during BP even though winds not as strong as last 2 games.."air seems much crisper even though the temp is just a little warmer"

Maybe Riz/Schwarb's get a little boost to help get them going ..this NYY pitcher a pretty good strike out guy.

SO...WHO'S READY FOR A W ???????

Go get 'em Jon!

I'm still awake. Bummer game. They just outlasted us.

I don't remember, Paco. Are you a local?

I didn't make it to the end. Sorry to see we couldn't pull this one out.

Hoping Rizzo is ok...

I heard last night that they xrayed Rizz and the didn't see a break/fracture.

The Yankees are the #1 team in baseball now. Except for Anderson's disastrous first inning on Saturday, we went toe to toe with them and played at their level (or they at ours ;)). Yes, they swept us but it wasn't easy and we put up quite a fight.
