Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

I just turned the game on. Why is Montero pitching? :scratchin

Cause Miggy can DO IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the greatest thing I've seen..my man Miggy, awwwyeahhhh! However, risky as he** to put him out there. Just glad a line drive didn't nail him. I like to think NY played nice at that point.

Dan, Rob Z was spent...bullpen still recovering . Trying to keep all arms ready for upcoming CO and STL series. What a week for Miggy! U.S. Citizenship, plays 1st base, homers and pitches...HE'S A PART TIME PLAYER FOLKS!

That's gonna leave a mark. 5 runs in .1 innings.

and those 5 were the difference in the game.

Interview with him now, lower back tightness is reason being given. Anderson "Whenever the backup catcher gets more outs than you do, it's not good"

My heart still breaking over Matty Szczur

For FINFAN ... one of the highlights of the game. I give you Miggy Montero: pitcher.

GREATEST PART OF THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Miggy puts up the zero!!!

Holy crap I love this team~ what other game are you ever going to see a standing O for the catcher pitching a zero in a game down by 5 runs? This is going down as one of my greatest Cub memories

Double-Z was good but left in too long. Good thing both he and Pena were brought up. I think Pena did very well! Anderson ... stick a fork in him. I don't want to see him pitch again. The game was good except for his terrible 1/3rd of an inning. He's obviously not healthy do in my mind there is no possibility that he will be better.

They did awesome! Did you see those hits by Judge? Neither did anyone else :rotfl2:(I imagine he's saving that for ESPN coverage)
Anderson, he'll be sent to DL while we can come up with plan B. I just hope Matty gets his worth and not given away now

exactly...leaving Z in cost the Hicks 3 run homer...which when we were threatening became a very , very big bomb. Considering Miggy was the one going in, I get it tho.

No you clearly don't. Your last few posts seem to be directed at me, bordering on insulting. You can rant and rave all you want, I will continue to post how I want. If you find my posts "really old," the solution is obvious, please add me to your ignore list.
time out guys...Paco..I think because you contradict yourself it becomes hard to see what you are really getting at. Example~You were livid when Maddon left Chappie in but now are mad he DIDN'T drive Davis into the ground...Doc.. you(like me) like balance of positives stated along with the negatives. It's a LONG season..do I have to bring out the onesies, magicians and petting zoo animals to keep it light? Slogan t-shirts? Let's just get along .

Ahh, okay Pam, I see. Thanks.

Maddon does mix it up. Remember last year with the pitchers back and forth in left field?

Brace yourselves for tomorrows game gang..Joe West behind the dish and it's on ESPN. Quite the maneuver to have the Ump rotation go from third for game one to home plate game 3  His ego knows no bounds and would bet good money he orchestrated getting this series. Hope Jon can keep his cool because you KNOW West won't call a decent game.

I was mad that Maddon used Chapman in G6 when they were up what, 6 or 7 runs? It was a joke move and I think everyone agrees. Maddon has a very, very bad habit of using closers incorrectly. They are meant to be used in save situations for 3 outs, max 4. So in Game 2 against the Phillies, once again, Maddon used the closer in a non save situation. So I don't think I'm contradicting myself here. What I want is for Maddon to start using closers in the traditional role.

Yes that guy is a joke. Not sure who is worse, him or CB Bucknor.

Pretty sure you flipped your lid over tonight's closer :rotfl2:

Ha, nah! I don't watch games that Anderson starts anymore so I just noticed that Montero was given a shot. The way our pitchers have been dishing it lately, might as well. Start having open tryouts too, position players are eligible.

Now Anderson is going on the DL and we can't pull a switcheroo with The Rockie's Anderson.:rolleyes1 Brett a nice guy, and I DO feel for him. Clearly Theo thought there was still decent life left in him, however he does have a legit laundry list of injuries that always leave that uncertainty. Hey...we are still in first.. tied with the Red's..and .5 up on STL..who is having a cake walk against ATL. These upcoming series why Joe needs to protect whats left of our pitching. STL always a PITA.

Great article on Miggy by Cubs reporter Carrie Muskat~ I have no words, other than

#Cubs Montero does it all
CHICAGO — Cubs catcher Miguel Montero told Joe Maddon a couple weeks ago that if he needed someone to pitch and save the bullpen, he was willing.

“They’re young and I don’t want them to get hurt,” Montero said of the Cubs relievers. ‘I said, ‘I’ll take it.’ Plus, I like to do it.”

Zobie's wife Julianna also the cover of the Tribune's SPLASH mini -mag in Sundays(todays) paper, another nice article!

As for pitching, looking like Eddie Butler will be brought up
