Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That stunt might have permanently removed him from my list!
:eek::faint: wow....

well they may have to wait in line to get their scoldings today~

Thought I'd give being mad at the Cubs a try, not sure how you guys do it but here goes~I didn't see/hear all the plays but here goes:

Also , the good FAR outweighed any bad, we took the series,3 W's in a row, we NEVER quit, no injuries (knock on wood for Miggy) and a few lessons were learned which is ALWAYS good

Big John ... not only did he break the getting scored on in the 1st streak, he helped his cause with a huge double :thumbsup2Joe putting him back in isn't on John, it's on Joe,,but I know Joe was hoping to minimize bullpen usage.

CJ...gave up his first run this season. It's out of the way now CJ...all good.
KB...Good day dude, good day
Addie..solid hits, bad luck...you are on the verge of another streak. Nice defense today
Jay..was everywhere doing everything. A Jedi
Miggy..called a great game and was clutch with his homer. Saw him wince heading to 2nd when rounding the bases..fingers crossed he's ok
Szczur..nice offensive game, one hiccup w/AAJ but overall, well done Sir.
JAVY gets a pass 'cause bumping up to the 7 wasn't his idea and even tho there were a coupla old Javy swings, he is VASTLY improved his at bats. I like it.
Pedro, 4 pitch paycheck today~ worth it. Thank you.
Koji..well done
Wade..your usual walk was given, all good after that. Looked like you were going to get out of the inning under a dozen pitches, but those Phillies are pesky
JHey,...drawing the walk off the bench, nice at bat. Sweet grab in the 9th? maybe it was later
Schwarb's..on the fence here, but giving a pass
AAJ...Excellent offense and alert base running, excellent

on the head-smack side of things~

Grimmer..you and the indoor pen are not a good match for each other. Coming out from that nice , heated tunnel into the elements has not bode well for you. at least I *think* that may be a reason
Willy... As much as I love your rocket arm, it doesn't have to blast off every time. Bases loaded, pitcher who just threw 5-6 balls you swing at the first pitch...why?
Zobie..nap time is before the game , not during
Monty, great job going the innings but leave the defense to the regular's, KWIM? KB preeetttyy good at making the play's on the dribbler's, Addie will get the one's up the middle. All you gotta do is pitch
AAJ/Sczcur..you guys wanna have a code word or something to know who's ball it is?
Rizzo...I see you under the radar 0-5

ALL of these guys do way more positive and winning plays than not, I mean, I feel bad calling out Rizzo for his offense when he made that killer dp on the line drive..keeping us alive. I feel lousy even trying call out guys on today...cold, miserable, long, no rest before tomorrow..just not my style.
Die hard here, just the way it is!:thumbsup2

Fin I like your posts when you do good and bad, instead of just rah rah rah, lol. Keep it up!!

Sorry to tell, you, nope.
I don't rah rah, I find the positive...and I hate that last post...had to force it out of me. I gotta be true to myself and I'll continue with my normal approach, guess you will just have to hate it/ ignore me or whatever works for you. Besides, being positive is way less toxic than being negative.

Addie sums it up perfectly

I won't ignore you Fin, I like your posts. I just really, really liked your last post with the good and bad. Thought it was really useful and analytical. Oh well.

Y'all can see the useful and analytical without me posting it, lol. I just go with good juju..it's the way I roll. Like I said, I grew up on the game, so of course I see why fans get bummed , but I also know I could never, EVER pull off what this team does day after day and when they have a bad one I am not calling them out on it. They are well aware without people like me posting crap about them. I liked the FIRST half of my post, lol..and these next 6 games are going to be rough..like, are the play-offs this week rough and we are entering with a very tired arsenal of bullpen arms on the mound. Which brings me to my thoughts on pitching, another reason I don't see Archer happening is all the eggs in one basket again. All signs point to going 6 for pitching, gonna need 2 solid guys, not 1. Remember when you told me that Theo would never trade Schwarb's? Now you're looking for it for Archer. I asked Len and JD if they could get word to Theo for me, can we keep Jay? Pretty please, lol.....wish it could fit in the plan. Glad Matty had a good day yesterday, the guy has a boatload to offer, get him somewhere he can play. He will be missed for sure, rare is the player with his personality and humility....well, not on the Cub's, but elsewhere

See, this year is icing on the cake~it's a test the waters of what is yet to come. Let the rebuild of the rebuild finalize and in the meantime these guys put on a heck of a show. Even if yesterday had pulled the L...what a game!

Paco doesn't need me defending him but I just wanted to pop in and say I liked your post too. I didn't think your "bad" was bad. More just pointing out the obvious. And sometimes I think it's ok to say that sucks when it did!

Fin, I like your positive attitude. I tend to be like that in real life. Definitely don't stop!

Anyway, I appreciate all of you on the boards and the different "fan styles" you bring. Enjoy your Friday, everyone, and here's to raising the W!

Well said once again!!! :thanks: (not sure if there's actually a thumbs up emoji, but there should be.)

I guess why I made my armchair quarterback/armchair coach post...these guys are professionals...they've been playing ball most of their lives. They had to work hard and beat out a lot of other hopefuls (and really good) to make it this far. Are they perfect? NO. Are they robots? NO. Can they have a bad day? YES. Can they potentially all have a bad day at the same time. YES. Do you not think they KNOW when they mess up and feel bad about it? YES. I have said it before and will say it again and again and again. Any given team no matter how bad has the potential to beat the best team in the league. I've played a lot of baseball and then softball in my years. I see when they make a mistake, but if I had the talent they had, then maybe THEY'D be watching ME and criticize if I made a mistake. Bill Buckner was one of my favorite cubs and unfortunately most people only remember his error in the series and forget about all the great plays he made. Don't get me wrong, I sometimes get frustrated with them when they make a bonehead mistake, but then I remind myself two things...
1) When I become perfect, I then have the right to criticize someone else for not being perfect.
2) Let he who is without sin cast the first stone

Granted, we're not talking about sin, but you can add a third if you like...those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

I did not see the Zoby thing...computer acting wonky right now and not wanting to let me see the replay. BUT - as stated above, I'm sure he knows he messed up and is beating himself up much more than us posting here will ever do.

Here's to a warm welcome to former Cub's, Castro (I know Riz will be happy to see his buddy and former team mate),Warren and Chapman. What a season Starlin is having!
Wind chill, (yes, I have to use that term AGAIN in May:rolleyes:) a whoppin' 35 de

He was tired from doing all those awesome autographs after the game Wednesday night...however, no signings for YOU from Zobie when you go to your games :snooty:;)

Heard a potential trade idea on the radio. Happ and Eloy for Quintana. Not sure WSox would go for that but I'd pull the trigger on that immediately.

Grimm got sent down to Iowa today. They brought Felix Pena up to take his place.

hmmmm...interesting but still thinking Happ maybe not the one to give up, that switch-hitter gold and work ethic~

Look for sadness a few miles from me, His wife Gina's family live's here. Well, he and Tommy can catch up.

Quintana is under a cheap contract through 2020. Gotta make that deal if it's on the table.

Chappie got his ring...
Maddon on Chapman; "What he did in the World Series and playoffs was difficult to recreate. We could not have done it without him"

True. I'm not a big fan but I also think he was integral in getting us through the playoffs.

I'm not so sure, while Q has good numbers, kind of a , how do I say this...not as challenging division as we have? My concern is he tank's as soon as we'd get him, or maybe put up 18, 19 win's. Being a lefty is always good. Still, the Sox will want more than we should give up and no way should we shoot ourselves in the foot giving up Happ. Just hear JHey made a killer grab and dp!

I'm off social till the game's over.

THAT.......hurt. We outplayed them, hands down. Here's where burning the bullpen yesterday comes back to haunt us. That , and you just can't give up a walk as the closer. Gotta shake it off...get 'em tomorrow.
Relieved Willy was ok..JHey's arm, off the hook. Let's see how the wind is blowing tomorrow..Robin,bring the good juju.

I want that ring back.
The irony, eh? Maybe ask Chapman for it tomorrow, lol. Happy for Addie tho, just connecting like that a huge confidence builder. Wonder if Willy called for that slider or Hector..either way, won't be throwing that to Gardner, (stupid auto correct) again any time soon

Bullpen does it again. Wow, just wow. Rondon? Why is this guy pitching in the 9th when we have one of the best closers in the game? Maddon, you'll pitch Chapman for 3 innings but you won't pitch Davis for 1 inning because he's tired, what?????????????????
