yeah but Hinske taught him that...and now he is the hitting coach for the Angels. Oh, I was raised to "Get 'em on, get 'em moving , get 'em home" lol our pattern of great minds continues (not that we have GREAT minds, but like minds)That is what I love about Rizzo. Once he gets two strikes, chokes up (a LOT) and just tries to put the ball into play somewhere. I know the HR is more sexy to a lot of folks (hope I don't get banned for that word), but trying to hit HRs all the time results in a LOT of strikeouts or popcorn flys also. I like Schwarbs a lot, but that's what killed his average this year. Fundamental baseball...get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in!
Same thing I used to get so frustrated with Ryan Klesko of the braves for...he was constantly swinging for the fence and struck out WAY more often than HR.
I hope all this is also a case of who became available or what loop holes Theo found to make then available...same as how we got Joe~ more than being negatively based on get rid of so and so.Shut your mouth! Theo will not fire Joe.

well Hinske was the first base coach before, and and a lefty himself so Riz picked his brain. He may have offered to other lefties, not sure how many are willing to have the HBP numbers Riz has by crowding the plate. Pretty sure JHey isn't and I don't blame him at all after his jaw was smashed. As far as Schwarb's, good question or was it simply getting AWAY from the staff at Wrigley?Okay, some rhetorical questions...
1) If Hinske taught Rizzo that, why didn't he teach the others?
2) If the other players see how successful Rizzo is with that approach, why wouldn't they emulate it?
3) I wonder who in Iowa helped Schwarbs. Once he was sent down, he seemed better when he came back. Not sure if that's because he got himself right or had good advice/coaching from someone in Iowa or both.
Great minds? Whaaa? Huh? I don't understand. What's that?![]()
I was talking about his choking up on the bat and putting the ball into play not the crowding the plate. I'm sure after JHey's jaw, that's the least likely thing on his mind.well Hinske was the first base coach before, and and a lefty himself so Riz picked his brain. And just to be certain...I was trying to act dumb so would indicate I agree you have a great mind, but not so much my own. After re-reading, guess it was an epic fail.

yep! He said this one is going front and center, means more than any baseball accomplishment. Just coming off the World Series, that speaks volumes. He had said somewhere that this was the one that would mean the most to him. Excellent.
Is that for sure? I heard he was interviewing with the Nats.Dave Martinez hired by the Nationals. Damnit!!!!!!!
