Well, true that we'd be 8 up on Milwaukee but still at best only 5 up on StL who swept the Pirates over the weekend. Alas, it is what it is, 2 up only on both of them with 7 games left with them head on.
I was there today. Man, we had our chances. Brewers pitched well all weekend (they lined up their best) and we scored 3 total in 3 games ?!
Here's a positive thought: what it will take to win the division now... if we are successful... is exactly what we'll need to make the best run in the playoffs. Maybe it's fate. There's a high correlation of the last month 's play to playoff "success".
We have so many weapons and our top 5 (!) pitchers have had spurts of greatness. We need our assets to be firing on 80%+ of their cylinders not 50%. It's like wackamole. This gets better and that gets worse, something different every time.

Sepo!
Glad you got to see the game where we had the lead for a smidge! Our Roster IS whack-a-Mole, never know who is going to be playing! Injuries have been brutal, on a team already taxed from what is possibly a 3rd play-off run in 3 years..Not sure if any of them could accurately say who the 40 are right now (Might not be at 40, 34 or 35 I think, w/Willy now)
While I know the Brewers timed their pitching, I get the feeling we weren't gonna dominate even if Garza was throwing. The errors and bad luck plays, minds were on Irma, a new guy from
AAA every inning this last week. One thing that they are not used to is booing from the crowd (I don't mean for Braun) Fan's make a difference. The guys feed off of it, they have said so, a lot. Everyone says the Cubs need to do something to get the crowd going, but a lot of time's it's the other way around. Crowd needs to cheer and rattle pitcher's. Help pump up the guy at bat a little more than just his walk up music. This year (and I understand the "newer crop") of fan's want it all, everyday and do not seem to support when it isn't happening for them. The level of play the Cubs are at now is still pretty stellar compared to 2 years ago, to be in first? Mid Sept? I am not making excuses for the Cub's, but if the fan's want to be ticked, they literally are part of the puzzle. Both the Pirates and Cubs looked fairly lifeless in their series, maybe because there were 5,000 fans' there?
Sometimes I get the feeling that they (Cubs)click better with their backs against the wall this season. Now their version of how close is WAY different than mine, lol. I keep seeing snippet's of "we have been there" i.e. play-off's/W.S.~ or "we have the experience, we know what to do." I am wondering of part of that is the drop we had before the ASB last year and they came roaring back, that they just figured since they did they same this year, they were kinda bullet proof? (For the division, I mean) Figured no way would they blow a 5 game lead .(Which they havn't but~ yikes!) Well, Brewers face the Pirate's psyched on their sweep of us, but since they used their top pitching against us hoping the Buc's take one or 2. Garza is a liability for them, maybe to eat a few innings if needed and hopefully the Buc's can strike then. Need Miami and and the Stanton HR machine to also tire them out. Molina is on a hot streak and you can guarantee Dex will be back by this weekend against us. He's been doing that all season this year...kinda hurt but not against the Cubs. If the Brewers beat Miami in their next series, they will be so pumped when we play them that Cubs won't recognize them..even w/out Nelson.
ETA: Hoping all is ok w/Marlins Park...If not this series could take place in Milwaukee Good trend is we have won more than lost at Miller Park this season, would be nice if that continued. Matter of fact, they seem to play better on the road than at Wrigley for a lot of series this year. Winning that World Series at the opponents house maybe has something to do with that
Also, THANK YOU for posting a positive thought! For the life of me, I will never understand how fan's think a positive outcome occur's from negative thinking
and remember....
WILLY'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
