I'm really excited about the Deluxe plan they have added. It would have been ideal for us in 2005.

Ms.Grumpy -- Welcome!

What part of Chicago? I am on the NW side!

BigBen...just watched your show(TIVO). Can't believe I can actually talk to someone who is on one of my reality shows! Very exciting for me!
Good job! I was very proud of you and can't wait to share your journey with you. You should start your own thread about the show! I think that would be really cool!

Bigben Also, the newspaper the other day said you work at Argonne. Which division do you work in? I spent 8 years at the lab at the APS.

John, I work at APS in ASD I worked for Jim Biggs Till He left now I work for George Gepner. I thought I reconized your name.

Thank you you guys for all the nice words. The march just gets tougher from here. Please stay tuned

What a loud, stormy night last night!!!!
Stephanie came and slept on the floor, but Katie slept right threw it:woohoo:
Katie is normally the one that wakes up with the slightest sound of thunder
If I knew that storm was going to roll in, I wouldn't have watered my flowers last night :flower:

Crissup - I"m glad nothing resulted of the tornado siren going off. That's always a scary thing to hear :scared1:

geffric - I love what you said about the Dole Float, and I couldn't agree more :thumbsup2

bigben - I'm glad that Shane is doing better, and you were able to develop a friendship with him:goodvibes

DMM - Did you go to the library yesterday? If you didn't, I bet the late fee is very minimal :) Try to stay in today - it's going to be blistering hot again.

Mac - I hope your parents are doing okay in the heat :wizard:

Tiggerrnnnnnn - One more week for the boot :woohoo: :yay: How exciting!!!

paint - That's great about the job :cheer2: !! What is it again, I'm sorry I don't remember

JoeEpcotRocks - How's the new job going? I hope you are still enjoying it :wizard:

piglet - I'm sorry to hear about your breathing problems with the heat. Sending lots of PD your way for you to feel better soon :wizard:

Bunchkin - That's great news about Lauren!! I'm so happy for her!!!! :goodvibes
**I'm going to put a piece of matboard in the shirt for the reason you said, and then also so it's easier for the characters to sign. I'm pretty excited about it, because it's going to be so cool when it's done! :thumbsup2
**I love the halloween costumes - so cute!!!!
I would try to talk Lauren into taking the witch costume to MNSHHP because it's different. Stephanie was a ladybug last year, and she got alot of comments on her costume because she was different. Katie was Cinderella, and she didn't get any comments on her outfit :sad2:

Disneywoz - Welcome to our thread!!! :goodvibes I don't know if that's against DIS policy, but we won't tell anybody ;)

Debbie - Have fun when you return back to Wisconsin :cool1:

Becky - :wave2:

Ms.Grumpy - Hello and Welcome!!!! :grouphug: Thanks for coming by our happy thread, and I hope you come by often and visit!!!!

Well, I gotta go jump in the shower!!
Have a great day today everyone, and stay cool!!!!

Would that be the survey group, or was that the magnet group?

I was originally in Diagnostics group. Worked alongside Tony Pietryla. I worked on the RF components of the BPMs and Tony mostly worked on collecting the signal and digitizing it. Eventually, I officially moved into computer support and my career has followed the IT track ever since.

I don't keep too much in touch anymore with a lot of my old coworkers, but I do still keep in touch with Ed Temple (who's now at FNAL) and Dan Ciarlette (who's now at ORNL working on the Spallation Neutron Source).

Good Morning everyone.

It's a good thing I work on a small amount of sleep. If it's not the kids, it's the cat waking me up early.

I didn't go to bed until about 2 AM yesterday (this morning?) as DH was being very late from setting up the computer at church -- He was home by midnight but I was too awake from waiting up for him that I couldn't sleep. So...anyway...finally make it to bed at about 2 and then about 5 AM a lot of ruckus going on -- stupid cat was apparently having a field day with some papers & knocking things over. I had to go downstairs and figure out what was going on to find the culprit of the cat. Got her settled, went back to bed only to be woken up before 7 AM by the munchkins. I'm now awake for the day -- and here I thought summer was for sleeping in. Silly me!

I'm anxiously awaiting for the end of the week though as my munchkins find out who their teachers are & my DD finds out her schedule. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her schedule with regards to what class is after gym class. I'm hoping it's English or Social Studies since she will be late to whatever class it is (she has to take a detour to the nurse for her back brace) & last year it was Math. Her math grade did suffer a bit for being late every day. I think she was about 5-10 minutes late depending on how busy the nurse was, etc... I just don't think Math, Science or French are going to be good ones to be late too. From talking to the counselors last year I think we are in the clear for French. Gym class is apparently going to be 2nd or 3rd hour & French class is usually 6th. Based on the conversation & knowing last year's schedule for 8th graders -- we are pretty sure she will have choir 7th hour. So, it will probably be French then choir. Of course, this can ALL change just because that's what usually happens to us. As soon as we have it figured out, they change it. It will be interesting this year as she will also now have her brace on for lunchtime which last year since her schedule was gym then lunch, she got to leave it off for the that entire time.

I also just found out we need to buy new gym shorts -- thanks girl! I had been telling her to try them on to make sure they still fit & she kept insisting they would -- she tried them on yesterday and EEK. She grew. Of course, it's too late to order them at the moment, so I'll have to go order them at locker set-up. The ones she has right now will work OK if we can't get them right away but there is no way those are going to last the entire school year. At least her shirt should work for the rest of the year but it's no longer a mini-skirt on her. It's actually a shirt. :rotfl2: At least she did try them on now so I can order them instead of waiting until the first day of school.

Hi there Mrs Grumpy!! I just posted my pics on teh window thread too!!

No, i didn't venture to the library yesterday! I was too afraid! but i did call, since they were open and told them that on the TV they were saying the roads I take to the libarary were closed, after giving her my address, she changed our due dates to the end of the week :) :yay: Now I can stay in again today!!

Morning all!!
What a storm we had!! And, of course, in came DD and DS to our room. And DS had to talk and worry for at least 30 minutes. And then DH went to sleep in one of the kids' rooms, but left me with his alarm clock.:confused3 So I had to go wake him up for work. And DS got up early as well. So now I am ready to return to bed.

Never made it to a mall yesterday. Too hot. May try today. I did look online. Dis Shopping is sold out of the bag DD wants. Ebay is too expensive - the bag isn't bad, but the S/H is ridiculous. The bag can't weigh that much.

Pool has cleared up with the rain. The kids can swim again. Now just hope it makes it til Aug 22. After that, the tonsils are supposed to be coming out which means they won't be allowed to swim anymore. Then I can drain the pool and get it put away before school starts. One less project.

:welcome: :welcome: Ms. Grumpy. We are a fun thread. Come visit often.

Deb, enjoy your time back in Wisconsin.

Becky, I wish I would find out who my kids' teachers were. Seems they wait here until the week before school starts to post those listings. Then those teachers hit you with an additional supply list for their individual classes. This teacher wants this notebook, that teacher wants a different one.

Slo, if I go to Southlake today, I am stopping by your store with my frame. Right now, I still have no pix on my walls. We took them all down to paint. It looks so bare in here. I need to get something back up.

DMM good idea. Stay in again today. Too hot for pregnant ladies to go out to play.

I really need to break out the multiplication cards with DD and do a little :teacher: She needs to have them refreshed to her memory.:rolleyes1

Well, better run. Need a shower to start me up. Really, I could go back to bed.

Happy Wednesday!!

Well, our neighbors came home yesterday afternoon from their first family trip to WDW!!! They came over last night to give me the scoop!!
They stayed at the ASM suites! Which they liked very much, although they said next time they will probably stay in a mod or deluxe resort.
They listened to my advice and had water and food delivered to their resort ahead of time! :thumbsup2 And they loved their first character meal at CP!!
The sad part was that the mom lost her camera on Big Thunder and all the character meal pics were in it!!!! Their son came over to show Hunter all his new Pirate toys he got at WDW!! So Hunter got out all his POTC stuff and they had a ton of fun.
( Sam They made Tony put up the POTC tent!!! Very fitting!!! That tent's a hit with everyone!! )

Ms. Grumpy :welcome: to the Chicago thread!!

slo Lauren did get a lot of compliemts last year. She had gone to BBB and was all done up in that red Belle costume and her hair and all. But the whole thing was just so hot and her head was killing her by the end of the night. She does have a BBB appt at the new one in the castle the morning of MNSSHP, but I think this time she is going with a different hair do.

Glad you got your shades in!!!! :teeth:

piglet Do you have asthma? Sounds like it to me, from my experience with it.

DMM Is your library online?? You could extend your due date on their web site.

Crissup Too many initials/abbreviations in your last post!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Becky We are looking forward to getting school schedules soon too!! And school walk thru's are next week too.

Tiggerrn Going to go see Nancy Drew this week at Marcus? We are going tomorrow morning. Are you guys free?

Have a great day everyone!!
We are off to hit Sam's Club and Jewel this mornig.

Hey everyone!

Speaking of costumes, Megan chose the Dorothy costume from Lillian Vernon and honestly, I think she'll look adorable! I am going to order her that and the ES pirate costume for the cruise as well. I saw a gorgeous costume that Swann wore in the POTC 3 when she had on the beaded costume given to her by the Pirate Lord from Singapore. But, we went back to the Disney Store get it and it was gone. Oh well... snap!

Welcome Ms. Grumpy. We are a fun group here and I'm glad you found us. We chat about all kinds of things here and it's always great to have new DIS'ers find us!

Well, here's my opinion about the new dining plan. Honestly, I think it stinks. First they cut the price by a dollar, but now you will be required to pay the tip which on $100 bill will be $18. You no longer get an appetizer, which for me is usually the best part of the meal. They should have skipped dessert. They say more people eat dessert than an appetizer, but I'm not buying into that. Usually when dessert rolls around in a restaurant, I'm usually way too stuffed after the appetizer and main course. So, here's what's going to happen, people will buy the appetizer OOP, get the main course, and then be too full for dessert, which they will decline and guess what, Disney will make money on that. And no more refills on drinks. Honestly, how cheap can you get.

And now we have the Deluxe Dining Plan. Can you say expensive! After reading this:

http://www.miceage.com/kevinyee/ky080207a.htm

I'm just going to be using cash from now on. Disney is getting a little nutty with all these programs. They get you used to one type of program and then blammo, they raise the prices or the cut service! Bahhh not worth it. I'll just buy my own food and eat when and where I want. Making the reservations 180 days in advance is ludicrous enough, but paying $70 per day per person is a bit over the top. At least that way, Megan can order from the whole menu, not just those icky little kids meals they are forcing down our throats. Makes me love Disneyland more each day!

Is it just the through the dining plan that you can't get a free refill on your drink?? Or is this over all for the restaurants regardless of how you pay?

What restaurant even still does that?????

I very rarely need another drink past the first one. But still....it's a drink for Pete's sake!!

And for us we swing either way on appetizers and desserts.
Depends where we are and what's offered.

And the gratuity thing......ACK!!

I just told Tony about this last night and we both agreed no more dining plan. Which I don't think it will be offered free again. Which is fine with us as we would rather go when it's less hot and humid at WDW.

Morning everyone. Having major computer problems, so hoping I can actually get this to post.

Bunchkin ~ No asthma here. I have had a problem getting what I feel like is a full breath (on occasion only) for about 9 years. They have tested me and said there is nothing wrong.

SamIAm ~ I don't think I would use a dining plan either if that is how it is working. We love getting appetizers and almost always need at least one refill.

Could it be allergy related then?

I'm sitting her at my desk trying to get myself motivated to build things. I keep saying to myself "I'm here until 7pm - I have all day!!!" :teeth:

Mac - morning!!! :sunny:

Crissup - How cool that you and bigben know some of the same people - small world!!!!:)

Becky - You must be so tired!!! I would be barely functioning on only a couple of hours of sleep :faint:

DMM - That's great that the library extended your due date :woohoo: You don't need to be taking any unneccessary risks:sad2:

Tiggerrnnnnnnnnn - If you decide to come, I'll be here till 7pm :thumbsup2

Bunchkin - My mouth literally dropped when I read about your friends camera:eek: I feel so bad for her :guilty: Did she have a good time outside of the camera incident? Tell her that I said "welcome home!"
**I bet Lauren did get a lot of compliments last year :goodvibes Her Fairy Godmother at BBB did a fantastic job with Laurens hair and makeup - she really looked amazing!!!! (and I still can't get over how much her and Hunter look alike in her BBB picture :) )

Sam - I bet Megan is an adorable Dorothy :) With her hair being dark, she fits the look perfectly - how cute!!!!! Do you have red sparkly shoes to go with it? If you don't, I have seen them at Target :thumbsup2

Okay, it's time to get off my duff and do something around here.
Later Gaters!!!
