[Becky - I will have to check out those threads
!!!

Here is the thread to Kid's Boutique/Custom Clothes
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1342831

(just skip the debates about e-bay parts & look at the really cute clothes, a belt & hairbows made!). A new one was just posted where someone just took ruffle trim and sewed it to a plain pair of overalls. So cute & some are so simple. My brain just isn't that creative on it's own but can run with it when I see pictures. :rotfl2:

Hi! I'm a homeowner!!! :cheer2: I had the closing today. Just signed a ton of papers, pretty boring, thank goodness...don't want something to go wrong there!

The builder gave me a toolbox with some tools, and my real estate agent gave me some candles and gift cards. Then we went to the house and dropped off the tools and a few things, and proceeded to lock ourselves out the garage! We were trying the key, and we got it locked and couldn't get it open. So my dad went around to the front door and the two of us managed to get it open. But then when I closed it again we couldn't get it open. :sad2: So we're going to have to check with the building supervisor guy and figure out what we're doing wrong. But at least I'm getting a garage door opener installed on Tuesday. Then we went to Culvers for lunch. No dessert, Mac, except for a little sample of the custard of the day that they brought around. But the food was good. (We ate there last Friday, too, after the walk-through. Forgot to tell you. :) ) Then we went to Home Depot and got a couple of the temporary window coverings to try (and I took 6 LGMHs :rolleyes1 ). Then we came home.

I had one of those Mickey flash drives waiting in the mail. 2Gb for $25, including shipping! And then I proceeded to poke myself in the eye with my finger! :headache: :sad1: The pain has mostly gone away, but the vision is still a tad blurry in that eye. :sad2:

So that was my day!

sk8leigh: take notes, eat dessert first. which i learned from geffric....

well the daylight is about over for friday and i wasted another day.

typical of me when i take off work.

i take son to union station sunday afternoon for his 5:55 pm train back to college. snif sniff....it never gets easy does it.
then when he is home for the summer, i can whine about his messes he makes. someone pinch me if i do that come may.

a hi de ho to all the chicagoland homies.

see you later tonight.

Leigh Glad the closing went smoothly. I almost spit out my diet coke reading about you getting locked in the garage and the rest of your day. I remember one house that we had, you could get in it ok but if you tried to leave no go the door knob would just spin in your hand.:rotfl:

:rotfl: But at least we were only locked out, so we could go home.

And the thing is, I had the building supervisor's cell number so that I could call with problems, but it was on a pink copy of a form, and today he gave me the yellow copy and took the pink copy back, and neither of us realized that he was taking his number! So I left a message with the office, but they haven't called back. The woman that works there who is good is on vacation today, so I think that's why I never heard back. But the important thing is that we can figure it out by the time of the opener installation. We can always go around to the front door to go in. (This is the big garage door for the cars, not the little one going into the house.)

I think we're going back tomorrow and going to Target to get some things. Like a trash can! :rotfl2: I was pulling tape off the floor and could only stick it in my pocket. I think we're going to try to do some vacuuming and see how it cleans up. (The cleaning crew wasn't really that thorough. )

I'm doing pretty well with my March Madness pool so far. I'm tied for second with 3 others, having missed 4 out of 24 games. :cheer2: I hope I can keep it up! I don't like the games, but the pools are fun! :rolleyes1

Hey everyone

Just checking out the IL board. I’m from Roscoe IL way north but I get to Chicago about 3 times a month.

Disney countdown is 8 days. March 25 – April 3. Spring break baby.

But, girl, how the heck did you poke yourself in the eye!! I hope you're feeling better

Hi Everyone!

Jedi...Did I see your DH on the news this morning??????? Channel 9????

Have a great day everyone! At least there is sunshine!:goodvibes

Yes, Debbie, that was DH on the news  I had forgotten that he was going to do that when a friend of mine emailed me and told me she saw "Mr. Wonderful" on TV this morning :rotfl:  Speaking of Mr. Whatever, he goes to London this coming week :sad2:

I'm SOOOOO sleepy! I had a long day of training at work. We were trained on Adobe Photoshop, which is fun, but overwhelming. Then some friends of mine from grade school got together and we went to dinner at Ron of Japan in Northbrook. Anyone ever eat there? It's a Japanese steakhouse and they cook with these hibatchi grills right there at the table. It sure was an interesting experience! (and expensive - my share was $50 with the tip! :scared1: ) Now I'm sleepy. And cold. It's cold out there!!!

jedi, i missed mr whatever wonderful this morning too.

did he win?
get your share if he did........

when are we going to do the Hub?

hey randy, just glanced at your post as i was about to go to bed.

welcome to your home away from home here.
be sure to come back and play here with the other chgoland homies.!!

Coongratulations!!!! :cool1:
But, girl, how the heck did you poke yourself in the eye!! I hope you're feeling better

:rotfl2: It was really stupid. I was trying to scratch my nose, and I think I hit my glasses with my finger and that knocked it into my eye or something. :confused3 Like I said, it was stupid. :lmao: One minute I have an itchy nose, the next I'm in pain. I staggered into the bathroom, one eye closed and watering, to look in the mirror, but it looked ok as far as I could see (and still does). But it is still a little burrier than it should be, even with glasses. I'm hoping that after sleeping tonight it clears up more. I don't want to have to go to the doctor for it! :scared:

I've been doing some packing. I found a bunch of books to get rid of. :thumbsup2 And I'm packing up a bunch of magazines to take. :dance3: I have the movers coming on April 1, so I have a deadline now. I work better with a deadline.

Hey there all.
Welcome once again to our newest Chicagoland Diser-digitaldevice. Come by and visit often.
Leigh, congrats on the closing. Won't be long now. Be sure to pick up the necessaties, too. You know-toilet paper, paper towels, dishrags and towels. The stuff you never think of til it's too late-bandaids!!!
Well, we are adding a member to our family. NO, not a baby!!!!!!!:rotfl: We are getting a puppy in a couple of weeks. DD has been begging for one since we had to put our other 2 dogs to sleep for illnesses this past year. Her bday is coming up, and I had a call from a friend telling me about someone who had some lab puppies for sale that would be ready to go to a new home by the end of March. So we will be getting a yellow male lab in a couple of weeks. (I'm still not sure my sanity can take it, but oh well. Here we go!!!) Lack of sleep, crying in the middle of the night, cleaning up messes, more laundry. Sounds like a baby, though doesn't it??:rolleyes1
Bunchkin, how did you fair with the little monsters? Your duct tape and stun gun comment had me:rotfl2:
Well, I'd better get to bed. DS came home from school this week all excited to show me the sole of his shoe which had come detached from its' upper. Guess we are shopping in the AM. Going to Orland to Stride Rite. I can't have a child with a normal foot. NOOOOOO!!! Need those nice, really CHEAP extra wide ones from Stride Rite. At least the buy one get one 1/2 off sale is going on this week.
OK later. Night all!!!

Are you in an in-law or just a regular place? I was just wondering if you had privacy because that is the key.
Also...
Your siggie is confusing me (not hard to do) . Should you be in WDW right now? I'm just looking at the March date.

We are all in a one family home. There are two bedrooms upstairs, so we have both of those. DD is in one and DH and I are in the other. Plus, DH works from home, so his "office" is at the foot of our bed. DS has an extremely tiny room just off the kitchen. It's big enough for his bed and a shelf. That's it. In our down time, all of us are squeezed into our room. I am actually kind of liking going to work, because I can sit on a couch like a normal human being!! :lmao: I am really looking forward to our own place, again. I am actually looking forward to cleaning and I hate to clean!! :rotfl:

I'm sorry my sig is confusing. Our trip was from January 26, 2007 to February 6, 2007. The date in my sig is when I did my last update. Sorry about that!

I want to thank everyone for their comforting words about me going back to work. I know it needs to be done, but it is still hard. I'm sure I'll get into a new routine and things will be just fine. At least it's a job I love and it's fairly easy. It could be worse! The baby seems to be getting used to me and seems to be getting better every day. She sprouted two new teeth last night (at just over three months old!! ), so she has been fussy due to that. She is a cutie, though!

Okay, I have a couple of questions. I'm hoping there are some creative people here!! ;) First, an easy one....

Have any of you ever eaten at The Cheesecake Factory for brunch? If you have, was it at the one in the Hancock building? My family wants to have breakfast before they hit the road Easter morning. I have been wanting to go to TCF for some time now. I don't want to do IHOP or one of the "Golden Nuggets" in the area. I thought TCF would be nice. However, there are no prices on their site. I'm expecting them to be more than IHOP, but how much more? Also, is their food any good? DH is afraid to try someplace with all of my family in tow and have it be horrible. However, my 35th birthday is next Saturday and I told him we are going to do something to celebrate while my family is here! I say we go to TCF for my birthday!! :rotfl:

Also, I would like to make a "Welcome to Chicago" basket for my family. I will put it together and drop it off at their hotel, so it will be in their room (or at the front desk) when they arrive. I am trying to think of things to put in the basket. This is where all of you creative types come in!! ;) I am planning to find a map of the city for them. Beyond that, I'm stumped. If I go with food, I need to be careful, because my grandfather is diabetic. However, my mom, sister and grandmother are not. Any ideas? I think we have decided to go to the Field Museum, so I had thought about buying tickets for that and adding to the basket. That way, they won't have to worry about paying for those. Can I buy tickets a couple days in advance? Any other ideas? TIA for any help!

A bit off topic and then I'm off to bed...

Yesterday, we received our tickets for our first Cubs' game!! April 14th!!! :dance3: I can't wait!!

We had dinner at The Cheese Cake Factory at Woodfield mall about two weeks ago. It was my first time and there prices were around $10.00 – $20.00 each. I know this was dinner not breakfast. It should be close to the same. The food that we had was awesome. This is now a regular place were going to eat. This is no IHOP. I hate IHOP. IHOP = Bad service and food. There on two different planets. If you want a good, family fun breakfast go to TCF. The service I got that night was the best I have ever had.

Later
Randy
:cool1:

mvazul That's definitely a cozy living arrangement. pixiedust: For luck saving and finding an affordable place of your own.

Cheesecake factory has good food but can be pricey. Actually any place right in downtown can be. Hopefully Geffric or Sam will come on with ideas for you. I tend to eat out in the "burbs" since the prices and taxes are more in line with my budget.

digitaldevice Welcome :welcome:

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!!!!!

Stephanie is making her first Reconciliation this morning.
She is so nervous and scared:scared:
Luckily, they are able to take an index card with them to help them remember what to say.

Debbie - Thanks for telling us about the HSM On Ice. Steph will love that!!!

HERSEY - :wave2:

Bunchkin - How did the Brownie Troop Meeting go? I hope those little animals (the boys) didn't destroy to much.

Becky - :wave2:

Leigh - Congratulations!!!! :cheer2: I am so excited for you!!!!:woohoo: :yay: Have fun in your new home!!!!!

macraven - I used to have a key chain that said "Life is to short, Eat dessert first". I loved that keychain. But then I got really over weight (this was about 15 -16 years ago) and I got rid of it. But I still love the idea of it :goodvibes
**I'm sorry your son had to leave:guilty: Summer will be here before you know it.

digitaldevice (dd for short ;) ) - :welcome:
Thanks for coming by. Please stop by often - we would love to get to know you.

Jedi - Why was Toby on the news, and why is he going to London? How are you doing too - I think of you often, and hope that you are doing okay

Tiggerrnn - Congrats on the puppy!!!! :dog: We were just talking about that the other day. I'm sure everything will go well since you are an experienced dog owner :) My girls keep asking for a dog, but I told them that it won't be for another couple of years yet.

mvazul - I can see why you want to leave your in-laws. Keep the faith, and you will be able to get your own place someday :wizard:
**For your basket, let me think about it and get back to you if I have any ideas. I'm not the most creative person either when it comes to these type of things.
**How fun about the Cubs tickets. I haven't been to a baseball game in years.

Well, I gotta go and get ready for church
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Hi all-Happy St. Patrick's Day!! :flower2: :bounce:

Been busy yest evening driving Matthew back and forth to his cub scout den meeting at our leader's house. Also dropping off girl scout cookie money to one of the moms that is doing the money collecting.
Also the last couple of days or so, been helping Matthew doing some research for his gifted project for school. And doing some other research for one of his cub scout requirements for last night's meeting.
Today and tomorrow are busy for us. Next weekend is jammed pack, too! :scared:

Welcome, digitaldevice, to our thread!

Slo- Congratulations to Stephanie's First Reconciliation today! :cool1:
I had to google search what First Reconciliation is, as I had no clue what it was. I grew up catholic as a kid, my parents and I only going to church Christmas and Easter. I did have my First Communion when I was 7 or 8. Didn't do my Confirmation, as my parents didn't feel it was necessary to do it:confused: .
We were not real devout catholics. When I was 20 yrs old, I converted to a more protestant faith. My parents still go to catholic church once in awhile.

mvazul- Best wishes on your nanny job and trying to get your photography career going! :thumbsup2
I live pretty close to Woodfield Mall and I hardly eat there( Cheesecake Factory, etc). Dh and I are quite frugal when it comes to eating out. We did eat there at Red Robin at one of our Dismeets last August. Food was good! :thumbsup2

Leigh- Congrats on your closing!! :cool1:
What's a Mickey flash drive? I'm so computer illiterate

Debbie- glad your DH was not picked in that Conrad Black trial, also :scared:

Geffric- thanks for the Conrad Black link from a couple of days ago ;)

Tiggerrn- best wishes on getting the new puppy!

Mac- my kids had Culvers yesterday as their hot lunch at school! :cool1:
Our school uses outside vendors/restaurants for hot lunch on Fridays, as we don't have a school cafeteria. We use Culvers, Home Run Inn pizza, Rosarios pizza, McDonald's.

Hi to everyone else :wave2:

Coongratulations!!!! :cool1:
But, girl, how the heck did you poke yourself in the eye!! I hope you're feeling better

(and expensive - my share was $50 with the tip! :scared1: ) Now I'm sleepy. And cold. It's cold out there!!!

I figured! He does really look good (as Jack Sparrow that is). I just saw him briefly before commercial break.

That is so cool you got trained for Adobe at work. I have it and know I do NOT use it to it's full capability.

As fro RON OF JAPAN...We always go to Kamp Pi in Elf Grove (same concept) and we love it!!!!! I think Gerrific likes it there too. Also, that's why we always eat in Japan at Epcot. Same concept in thier restaraunt. All pricey. When we first started going there you didn't even need an ADR but now you almost always need one (in WDW not Elk Grove).

Good luck to Stephanie.:thumbsup2
Congrats Leigh!
Keep your chin up :yay: Macraven (when you drop DS off)
Tiggerrn2 ahhhh....a puppy!!!!!!:goodvibes
mvazul Glad the job is working out so far. And as for a Chicago basket Macy's, formally known as, Marshall Fields STILL sells Marshall Fields products (i.e. coffee, frango mints, etc) I would pick a couple of those items up. The bad thing is Chicago is famous for a lot of our food and you can't be sticking a Chicago style hot dog in the basket or a slab of ribs!!:rotfl2:

Have a great weekend everyone!!

good saturday morning chicagoland homies.......

yay :yay: :yay: :yay: it's the weekend.
time to do laundry and all that fun stuff...

slo, i take son to the train , union station tomorrow afternoon. he goes back to macomb then.

i have maps, lots of them i pick up at union station.
mvazul, do you want me to pick up the brochures for the different sites of chgo tomorrow and mail them to you? just let me know.
