Becky I come into Ogilvie and Leigh works in the building above it.. but I don't know how to get to the Field.. there is some bus that goes to the museum campus.. The Field website says...

From Downtown Metra Terminals

Union Station

 • Take CTA bus #1 or #151 to State Street.

 • Transfer to CTA bus #146 south.

 • From mid-may through Labor Day, bus #130 runs directly from Union Station to the Museum on weekends.

LaSalle Street Station

 • Pick up the #146 bus on State Street at Van Buren.

Thanks. That's what it says but neither of those seem to go to Oglive (yes I know Union station is basically next door but I get confused easily! Trust me...the first time I went in I walked out the doors & had no idea which direction was North so didn't quite know which bus stop to stand at to get to Michigan Avenue. If I could have seen the Lake I would have known. DH so kindly later said "Did you look at the street signs?" Umm...No? I found the bus stop & hoped we were going the right direction! :lmao: :lmao: Then we got off the bus & I headed the wrong way for the AG place but I did figure that out eventually! I think I need a mobile GPS system! :rotfl: ).

It says in the travel guide I have "14 east on Washington at Canal; ride to 11th/Columbus" - It's the Jeffery Express. When I go on the CTA website it says something about no stops between Balboa (??) and somewhere else except the 11th & Columbus. I guess I'm just afraid I'll be riding a bus for hours just going in circles. :rotfl2:

Maybe if we go at an odd hour (i.e. not rush hour) it won't be so bad because we might be the only people on the bus & the driver can help us poor unfortunate lost souls.

I'm sure I will figure it out, I always get so paranoid with going into Chicago. I wish the free trolleys were working at least THOSE I can figure out. :)

Good morning everyone!!

My Disneyland/Vegas ticker is down to 30 days!!!! Woohooo!!!! I love when the tickers turn to days and not months and days any more!! :cool1:

I just saw a neighbor come out of his garage with shorts on!!! :rotfl: I think he's rushing it a bit or being very hopeful!! :rotfl:
And where is the sun for Pete's sake?? :crazy2:

Not much going on here today.
Just some of this:
And I'm hoping our new Crocs come today!!

jedi Thanks for sharing your awesome pics with us!!
That guy is very cute! ;) And go on POTC tons of times and if there are any Pirates around....kick them in the shins!! It will make you feel better!! ;) :rotfl: Don't let sadness ruin a great ride and your trip!

slo Good luck with the test results today!! Make sure you let us all know how it went!!

Bunchkin, isn't it great to see the summer stuff in the stores?!!!!!:cool1: Kids b-days are in the spring, so time to shop for presents--summer stuff!!!!!!!

It's great that all the summer stuff is out. Of course it's actually been out for over a month but I was too 'seasonally depressed' to look at it!! :rotfl:

We had to go out to eat tonight all of my area lost electricity all afternoon until between 6 and 6:20

Sure your electricity was out!! ;) ;) You were just looking for another excuse to go out and eat!! :lmao:

Nicole, great shopping! Any word on a bowling date yet?

I'm thinking the last weekend of April! I will post an exact date soon!! :thumbsup2 I hope that works for you! ::yes::

And thanks, shopping is my forte!! :cool1: ;)

Becky I'm not sure of the bus number. But if it let's you off on Congress there is NO WAY you could miss spotting the Field, it's right across the street and it's HUGE and there is a HUGE Dino in front!!! :lmao:
No one could get that lost that they can't spot a museum!!! :lmao:

I'm sure I will figure it out, I always get so paranoid with going into Chicago. I wish the free trolleys were working at least THOSE I can figure out. :)

How about picking up a Chicago map??:)
I have a few that show all the train stations and major buildings, and attractions. That way you will know where you are headed. Especially since the station exists tell you what street you are exiting onto!! :thumbsup2

I forgot to mention for anyone looking for kid size Crocs, I noticed them for sale in the mall at the Stride Rite store. No Disney ones though.

I'm glad you all like the pics :goodvibes I'll try to post some tonight. I'm planning on spending the whole day at DL. Today's the day I'm having lunch AND dinner with a friend. We're having lunch at the Blue Bayou and dinner at the Napa Rose at the Grand Californian hotel. Oh, and did I mention my friend is a HE? ;) Nah - nothing like that! I've known him for 11 years (before I knew Toby). He lives out here in CA. I met him when I first came to DL then and we've kept in touch since. Yes, he's cute, but he does have a GF now :rotfl:

This is what I got from Trip Planner on the CTA site. I plugged in a day and time just to get some sort of route.

Walk 0.1 mile NE from OGILVIE TRANSPORTATION CENTER to WASHINGTON & CANAL
Take CTA BUS # 14 JEFFERY EXPRESS SOUTHBOUND
Depart: WASHINGTON & CANAL At 10:50 AM
Arrive: MUSEUM CAMPUS BUS STOP At 11:06 AM
Walk 0.2 mile SE to FIELD MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

So that does seem like the bus stop you need. You just need to go up to Washington to catch it. Washington is the street that borders the train station on the north, but you'll be coming out on Madison on the south. If you can see the Sears Tower, walk away from it. :goodvibes

And coming back, you just reverse it, and you can get off at MADISON & CLINTON and then walk to the entrance on Madison, you'll be almost right there.

Hope this helps!

Morning everyone.
Hi Jedi, Great pix!!! Can't wait to see some more. Glad to hear you are having a good time. I would love to get away to DL by myself.
Morning Bunchkin. I'll be doing some of those same chores. DD is still sick today, so can't go anywhere. I was supposed to help at the school today, but I had to cancel. Second time I've had to do that to her teacher:guilty:
Well, I'm going to do a little :surfweb: and then off to do :laundy: and sort out DS room. I really am going to get that done today.:thumbsup2

good mid morning to my chicagoland homies.

think last night was the last of our snow? it better have been.....

slo, let us know your results when you do.

hope you get the right bus.
i have maps here that might help you.
i picked them up from union station. i have to go back to union station this saturday morning to pick up todd. he's coming home for spring break.
i could get the maps you need for the museum.

jedi, great to hear from you. loved all the pics. someone on another thread said they are reading about your trip on your myspace. didn't know you had one. but glad you are sharing here with us chgo land homies.

done with my school break, have to return to class .
catch you later

Hi, mac! Yeah I have a myspace page :goodvibes I would link my blogs to this page, but my myspace page is set to private and you have to be on my "friends" list to read them. If any of you are on myspace, I'll be happy to add you! :cool1:

I had to really make my page secure because I had a problem with someone who is stalking DH. It was crazy. Plus, we have a myspace page at the library now, and now my supervisors are going on to look at people's pages and no way did I want my boss seeing my page, so I set it to private (you can't see my page unless you're on my friends list) :rolleyes1

Well, there's not much to report from the doctors office today:sad2:

The MRI results show nothing wrong with the right knee, and a possible stress fracture with the left knee. But if there's nothing wrong with the right knee, than why is it making as much noise as the left knee, and have pain?:confused3

My doctor told me to go to an Orthopedic, and he was happy that I already made an appointment. I told him who I was going to, and he was happy because it is also his Orthopedic. :thumbsup2

I told him that my OB suggested that I ask him about me having a connective tissue disorder due to the problem also with my hands. He said that it is a high possibility, and for me to mention this to my Orthopedic, because this would be more his area of expertise. If the doctor suspects this to be the problem, then I will have to take more tests for him to make a diagnosis. :guilty:

Here I thought 2007 was going to bring me better health, but it's not looking to good:sad2: . I will just have to deal with this one step at a time.

Now onto chores - I feel like I'm always doing chores.

Later gaters!!!!

Quick fly by....
This week is nice as my kids are not getting homework ,due to ISAT testing :cool1: I don't have to push on the homework this week!

Slo- hope you can get some answers when you see the orthopedic Dr.
Sorry you are still in some pain

Jedi- nice pics! :thumbsup2

Watched AI last night and watching tonight. Hope they vote off the hussy this week(Antonella) :rolleyes1
Mac- saw a post on your other thread about the hussy :rotfl2:

:grouphug: :grouphug: SLO maybe the Orthopedic, will bring good news ..:grouphug:

Slo: Sorry the Dr. couldn't be more conclusive for you, but it sounds like at least everything is still "physically" okay with your knees. Maybe the squishy noise is just that, but could the pain just be a touch of arthritis? I get sort of weird noises from my knees and I just thought it was old age settin in... although you are lots younger than me.

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. When's the ortho Dr. appt.? Soon I hope so you don't have to dwell on this too long.

Hi, everyone! I'm glad you liked my pic! :goodvibes I'll post some more, but first, I wanted to give you a quick report....

He was REALLY hot!
I love your pix! Keep um coming! I am a Disney pic-aholic! I love them!

Debbie - Hello again! I love seeing you and your DD in the AM! :teacher: Get the Mickey jacket. ;)
It's fun seeing you too! Who know's if I will see you next year with the different PM schedule. I am going to get that jacket! Just trying to decide on a size.

I forgot to mention for anyone looking for kid size Crocs, I noticed them for sale in the mall at the Stride Rite store. No Disney ones though.

I decided I want those Disney crocs for DD (myself kindof too). They are pricey! Even on Ebay! Oh well...I must have them now!

Sorry your results weren't very enlightening. It's stinks to get older! I think we all just start to fall apart!:rotfl2: I' m not sure if I mentioned this before but both my knees clicked when I went up stairs (remember I live upstairs) and the doctor said my knee bones were rubbing together and there was nothing I could do about it besides surgery when it got worse...well it just went away. Same with my shoulder. It hasn't bothered me in awhile
.....now that I've said it out loud though it will probably all return! So maybe yours will work itself out too. I hope it does.:wizard:
AND...this is going to sound really funny but I think when you exercise it makes things worse sometimes! And don't you run? Isn't that one of the hardest things on your body?
Well good luck with it all. I hope it isn't anything major and that you feel better real soon!

slo, after reading what the other homies have said, i'll throw in my two cents.

is it a cartlidge problem? you get a clicking sound at times and have some weakness in the knee?
might be bone grinding on bone.

cortisone shots help for most if that is the problem.
worse case could be knee replacement if it is very arthritic

but, i am not a doctor. friends have told me about their knee issues and just passing it on.

hope you get more answers with the ortho guy.

Slo,
Sorry to hear you didn't get anything definate in the way of a result. But I tend to agree with everyone. It is probably cartilage or bone rubbing. I have the same thing with my knees, and docs I work with said there is nothing to be done about it. I am sure mine is due to years of sports. I still play soccer, but I can feel it. I take Aleve before a game so it doesn't hurt quite as bad. Gonna play, gotta pay!!!!:rotfl: I can't imagine not being active and competetive. The docs have said the only way to fix it would be knee replacements. They wouldn't consider something like that until I am much older, though. So I play and I suffer (only a little bit).
DD is feeling better tonight. She'll go back to school tomorrow. I have 2 meetings tomorrow, so I'm glad about that.
Well, better get to dinner. Baked chicken and boiled new potatoes. And carrots. And I picked up the best strawberries at the store yesterday. They are huge!!! and tastey. Still have the stems (so I had to pick up some melting chocolate for dipping, of course).
Talk to you all later.

It sounds like we are all a bunch of old foggies :rotfl2: maybe that's why we all get along so well. We all have knee problems.

Taking a quick break from my chores, last night threw me off schedule.

It's fun seeing you too! Who know's if I will see you next year with the different PM schedule. I am going to get that jacket! Just trying to decide on a size.
I am there after school also, I pick up Kelly nearly everyday. I think my jacket is a medium, if that helps. :confused3

I decided I want those Disney crocs for DD (myself kindof too). They are pricey! Even on Ebay! Oh well...I must have them now!
Kelly & I have them! I have 2 pair actually. :ssst: I didn't like the 1st color after I got them. Waiting to wear them tho!!! Geesh, this snow never stops! :sad2:

Maybe I'll see you tomorrow again. It's SPORTS dress day, fyi. ;)

Becky I'm not sure of the bus number. But if it let's you off on Congress there is NO WAY you could miss spotting the Field, it's right across the street and it's HUGE and there is a HUGE Dino in front!!! :lmao:
No one could get that lost that they can't spot a museum!!! :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: Yes, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't miss seeing the museum. We have been there before several years ago (DS who is 10 was 3) but DH does the driving when we go into Chicago. I'm just along for the ride. I think about the only one I could get to driving is the Museum of Science & Industry -- drive straight, come to the lake turn right...follow signs. Providing I'm on the correct road going in (although we DID manage to get lost going home one night we went WAY north on LSD -- I began to wonder if that goes to Wisconsin -- we couldn't get over to do a left turn and we are no good at the Chicago slide (do others know what this is or did my DH make it up???) :lmao: DH was driving & it was dark.)

How about picking up a Chicago map??:)
I have a few that show all the train stations and major buildings, and attractions. That way you will know where you are headed. Especially since the station exists tell you what street you are exiting onto!! :thumbsup2

Now that would be way too logical! Why would I want to do that when I have you guys here on the DIS? ;) The train station is nice with that at least I can head to the correct street & then I stand there all disoriented. :lmao: At least that is what happened the FIRST time I came out of the train station. I have gotten better with that at least. I was doing the mob mentality and just followed the crowd since I was clueless, I figured everyone knew where they were going when they all headed downstairs.

Thanks, I do at least now know where the Sears tower is. Can you believe I've lived here all of my life & never been to the Sears tower or the Hancock building for that matter. DH was working in the Boeing building a bit ago and we took the train in one time to figure out how to do that for him rather than him driving. We were going to go but it was cloudy, thought what was the point of going then.

I think my paranoid stuff just comes from when I was little my aunt & uncle took a cousin who was visiting from another state & myself in to the Shedd Aquarium. We got there fine but leaving not so much, I think we circled a McDonald's or some sort of fast food for HOURS (or what felt that way). We somehow got on one way streets & none of them ended up going to the tollway...so we just went round & round & round until my uncle finally decided to stop at the McDonald's, we got something to eat & he asked for directions. I do remember we didn't circle the place again after we left that time. I think I equate "Chicago + not knowing exactly where you are going = hours going around in circles (or more accurately squares)"

Not to much going on here today - I'm just going to work.

Thanks to everyone for your hugs, thoughts, and suggestions about your knees. I appreciate you all taking the time to post about it :grouphug: I'll add some more info to add to the mystery. When I had the original X-Rays done about 3 weeks ago, they showed no arthritis, and no bone rubbing on bone (which shows the joints are fine). If my knees weren't making the amount of noise that they make, I probably wouldn't have been granted the MRI. The MRI results also show that the joints are fine, and that there's no bone rubbing on bone. It's really weird!!!! After doing some research last night, it's a possibility that the knee cap is out of alignment, and would cause the loud crunching sound (the sound is like stepping on a bag of Rice Krispies). The whole thing is weird, and I should stop reading so much, because then I just get more nervous when I read things I don't want to see (like when I read about the Connective Tissue Disorder that I mentioned earlier). But thanks again for all your suggestions - I love ya!!!!!:grouphug:

Rose - Enjoy your week of no homeowork:cool1:

geffric - I hope the Orthopedic brings good new. Since he's a friend of the family, I know I will get the best care. :)

Sam - My Orth appt. is Wed the 14th. So luckily, it's under a week :)

Debbie - I used to run, but I haven't in 9 years. But this could be damage that I did to my knees when I ran, and then I severly aggravated it when I started working out again. :guilty:

macraven - I hope a cortisone shot will help (as much as I hate getting them in my feet). A knee replacement scares the hell out of me since that's when my Grandma died last year. But we'll have to see what happens:rolleyes:

Tiggerrnnn - I'm so glad your DD is feeling better :goodvibes
**You play soccer - how fun!!!!!:cool1:

HERSEY - We do all sound like that don't we :rotfl:

Kim and Becky - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!
