I hate going downtown because I need to take the train and there is never any parking

Ugh!! I agree!! It's such a nuisance, that I avoided using the train for years. So, a few months back, I decided to use the train to run downtown. Being a train newbie (since I hadn't used it in so long), I had no clue as to how the parking worked at the Washington St. Station. Needless to say, after getting there an hour early, I almost missed the train trying to pay for my parking, after finally running back to my car twice. I called Naperville after I got on the train to explain my problem and see what I could do, including paying them over the phone somehow. They didn't care. Told me only thing I could do is pay the ticket I was going to get. Absolutely no care that I tried my hardest and darn near had a heart attack running back and forth trying to do it right.

Then, I used it again a few weeks back. This time, I got on the wrong train coming home (it didn't stop in Naperville). But, the train conductor was more understanding and just explained that I needed to get off in Lisle and catch the next train to take me to the Naperville station. Of course, the conductor was a bit of a comedian and didn't let me off easy until he had me freaked out that I was going to end up stranded somewhere. :rotfl: Fortunately, I'm easy going about stuff like that, so I didn't get upset when I realized he was messing with me. ;)

imagination behind the attractions and participants' reactions to them.

testers take a spin---as do cameras, for a vicarious thrill. Also examined
is the setup preceding each one that's meant to subliminally prep patrons as
they wait in line. Rides include the Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller

bunchkin, i just read your chili receipe.
one thing i do that you don't is use V8 juice instead of the t. sauce.

it adds a different flavor to the chili.
it's really good.

i am making plans to go to the motherland sept 24th thru oct 4th.
if anyone here is interested in going at that time, give me sign.........

on oct 4th thru 8th, i plan to stay at the hrh and do hhn at universal.

i haven't told mr mac yet.
i plan to leave him a note.

Good evening all-

Slo and tiggerrn- thanks for the concern of Chrissy's eyes getting worse.
I'll need to pray her eyes stabilize awhile.

Debbie- thanks for the link to the pics :) I looked at only a couple of pages of it. DanMurphy was real good at posting his WDW pics here on the community board. But I don't think he posts them that often here anymore :guilty:

Mac-thanks for the tv listings :thumbsup2

Hopefully we won't have too much snow tonight and tomorrow as I would like my kids to go to school tomorrow. They get way too many days off of school.

Have a good evening.

rose princess, i do hope everything goes fine with chrissy's eyes.

i have astigmatism in both eyes. found out on my last check up there are contact lenses now available for people with astigmatism.

I have to go back to work today. I will be in the citibank building for the next few days. I hate going downtown because I need to take the train and there is never any parking:sad2:

Do you take it from the Naperville station?

I'm in that building, so if you want to meet up for lunch sometime, let me know! :goodvibes

Leigh Your closing date is sooo close!!! You must be so excited!!

Yes, I am! I contacted a lawyer today for the closing.

And Sunday I bought a sofa from La-Z-Boy. It's this one.

http://www.la-z-boy.com/ourfurniture/product.aspx?pid=14

Here it is in the right color, although it looked more cream in the store. I imagine it will be somewhere in the middle.

sofa_505.vnt

They had it discounted if you bought it in this color microfiber or one of three others, since they had a lot in stock from a promo they had, so I got it for about $400 off! :woohoo:

And I don't think I ever posted what furniture I got. It's this one, although it only shows some of the pieces.

200br.jpg

And actually, the dresser I got is a little shorter, and the mirror is square.

Leigh I hope you stay controlled. DH has diabetes and sometimes when his sugars bottom out he has a seizure. It is the scariest thing to be on this end. There is nothing to do but call 911 and wait, keep the airway open and make sure he doesn't hurt himself. He's been seen at NW this year and they put him on Keppra for a year to see if that won't happen when his sugars are low or if he does have an actual seizure disorder. They just aren't sure.

I hope everything works out with your DH. I'm sure the seizures are very scary to watch. I could kind of tell when they were coming on, sometimes, and then the next thing I would know I'd be waking up disoriented, with a bad headache. The first time I went to the ER, but just that one time. But I think it's probably scarier to be the person watching it.

Ugh!!

Yuck. At the Lisle station, where I am now, there's pretty much no daily parking. If you don't have a permanent pass, you're out of luck. There are a few meters, but they don't open up for parking until like 9am. I think you can maybe get something from the Village Hall for a day, but I've never been that desperate to look into it.

Now I'll be going to Rt. 59, and supposedly if you get there by 7:30am you can usually get a daily spot. So I'm planning on taking the 7:17am train.

Slo and tiggerrn- thanks for the concern of Chrissy's eyes getting worse.
I'll need to pray her eyes stabilize awhile.

I hope her eyes get better. It can happen...mine recently did, slightly, amazingly enough! So maybe it can happen to her!

Leigh Nice furniture I like the bed very nice, Where did you get it?

Mac We are in the Motherland 9/30 to 10/7 :woohoo: I would love to meet you in person.

GOOD MORNING SNOW BUNNIES!!!
21.gif
:rotfl:

About a 1/2 hour ago or so I got woken up by the school district's emergency phone call system. No school today! The kids will be so happy!! :) Well, Lauren will be happy that she doesn't have to go to school! But Hunter won't, because his sister will be cutting into his 'Mommy and me time'. :rotfl:

I was told by DH that I am to do NO shoveling today!! I did some yesterday because it was light stuff, but you know that won't be the case today!!
8.gif

For anyone who HAS to go out today, please be careful!!! Drive slowly!!!

Tiggerrn I hope that the meds your DH is on will help avoid those seizures!!

Leigh Nice furniture!!! Are they holding it for you to be delivered after you close on the house?

macraven I've never been one who liked V8, so I would have never thought to have add it to chili! :rotfl:
Sam and I are planning to be in WDW Sept 26-30! So I'm sure we will see you there!! :wave2:
Going to MNSSHP? :teeth:

Debbie Thanks for the picture link!! Those were some pretty amazing pics of practically dead parks!! WOW!! The only time I have seen the parks like that was after 9/11. We went the following Feb., just as travel was starting to pick up.

Crissup I hope you have better luck next time you take the train. ;)
Some of the parking lots around here have digital signs on the roads that let you know how many spaces are available, so if one is full you can drive to the next one.

I just found out they cancelled school today. I don't think Alex is going to be very happy.

Oh joy I get to go drive in this stuff. I hope they let us go early today. I volunteered to stay later tonight since we are short handed, What was I thinking.
8.gif

Ok I better get ready a little earlier since it's going to be a fun drive.

good tuesday morning chicagoland homies !!

i was called last night to work at the high school today.
so far, school has not been cancelled.

got the drive shoveled so i can get out but i doubt i will be able to get into the driveway when i get home from work today.

it doesn't look good here weatherwise.

yea, bunchkin, V8 juice. i can't stand it but it really adds a ziing and different flavor to the chili. i cook mine on shimmer for 2.5 hours. try it sometime.

hope you all have a good day.

see you when the school bell rings.........:teacher:

Haven't got a phone call from the room moms yet and checked our school dist. website. So far no school closing by me. But that can change, maybe.
Wouldn't surprise me if they have a half-day and close school early today here.
Must be a fine line where the school closings are- with the snow accumulations and wind :confused3

DH still has to go to work, of course, and drive in this.

Everyone be careful out there! :)

I'm posting late for me today :upsidedow

When I got up at my normal time, I looked at the school website and it said the kids have a 2 hour delay - so I went back to bed. But, I couldn't go back to sleep, so I got back up again  I have a feeling they will cancel school, and if they do, Stephanie will be doing this  Normally, Katie goes to daycare today, and I'm trying to convince myself to keep her home. I just hate to do that, because I have to still pay for it. But in the end, I know me, and I'll end up keeping her home:rolleyes:

Disneynut - I"m not a big fan of RFC's menu either, but it's Stephanie's favorite place to go, so that's why we go there alot.
**I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. I'll send alot of get well PD your way immediately :wizard:

Bunchkin - Dinner with the in-laws was nice (I love Maggiano's:goodvibes ) We have a ton of leftovers that we brought home.
**I'm glad Lauren is feeling better, but I'm sorry to hear about her asthma :guilty: I hope she starts feeling better with that soon:wizard:

Debbie - Winter always zaps my energy too ::yes:: I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Tiggerrnnn - That girl you talked about was unreal - I can't believe she did that :headache: I hope things are better at work this week:wizard:

Crissup - :wave2:

macraven - Thanks for the V8 juice tip:thumbsup2

Rosemarie - Are your kids in school today?

Leigh - The furniture you bought is really nice!!! :goodvibes I bet you are getting so excited!!!

HERSEY - I hope Alex enjoys his day off:cool1:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I'm gonna go watch the news.
To everyone that has to go out today - please be careful!!!!
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Of course the news was reporting again that anyone close to I-80 or south of I-80 can expect tons of snow. :sad2:
And we are right by I-80!!!

All the schools around here are closed. I saw them all on the news.

Something I forgot to mention....good news!!! :cool1:

Some of you might remember, slo I know you will, that I won tickets from the radio station WLIT to go see a special screening of Cinderella 3 at the AMC downtown. I and the kids were so excited that we had won! I had never signed up on a radio station's website before and couldn't believe I had won something so quickly after signing up.

Well, I just won something else!!! It came in the mail yesterday!!!

I won a gift certificate from the Jewel worth $20 at the floral dept.
It was a contest for Valentines Day. :cool1:

I was hopping to win a contest they are having for a trip to a spa resort in Arizona, but I'll take what I can get!! :rotfl:

I told Tony he can have the coupon for Valentines Day...but that I except him to buy something more than $20!!! :rotfl:

Lauren is sitting here with me and she she thought this smiley : :headache:
meant mind cramp or brain freeze!!!!
:lmao: :lmao:

Be careful out there everyone!

My DH wasn't feeling well so isn't going into work...isn't he so thrilled. He ended up sick on a day the kids school gets closed, so it's not exactly quiet here. :lmao:

I'm really happy about that because I really, really, really just feel like being a bum today. So, I'm just hanging out here in my PJs. Although I suppose I should get something accomplished sometime today.

DD did great at her gymnastics meet on Sunday. She got 6th out of 10th place so she was happy. In addition, her floor score was 8.3 which is really good. Her goal this year is to get a 9.0 on *some* event and since floor is her best event, that's our goal for her to do that on floor. Starting out with 8.3 is good. The rest of her events were in the 7.X range but that's typical for her. They have a wall where you can put your name if you get 9.0(or better) on any event, so she wants to get her name on that wall. She already got on the 8.0 wall previously. Our next one is on March 10 which is her birthday, so she should get 10.0 on everything right just because it's her birthday. ;)

Last night she had an orchestra concert & I am DEFINITELY chaperoning any HS music events she goes to! The high school orchestra teacher was there to mention about the HS program during the 8th grade performance. Then asked us to wish them luck because the kids are flying out tomorrow (maybe? :lmao: They have to be at the school at 3:30 AM to get to O'hare on time. :faint: ) to go to California to perform at DISNEYLAND!!! along with some other places...I heard Disneyland and tuned out the rest. I know in the past they have gone to Disney Music Days, etc... DD is dropping out of orchestra next year but will still be doing choir & the choir also gets to go (basically all the music programs -- orchestra, choir, band). I just don't know if it's all levels or the higher up ones. I really think I need to chaperone those, don't you? I mean, I really can't have my 14 year old traipsing around Disneyland while I'm stuck here in Chicago (even if it is with a school trip), can I. I'm sure I can find something to amuse myself during any free time while groups are rehearsing or something. :lmao:

I knew she was a girl after my own heart when we were talking the other day about Disney & when she's in HS and her answer to me was "why do you think I want to try out for those choirs?" -- Silly me! I thought it was because she enjoyed singing! How wrong I was ;) , it's because she has seen pictures of them at Disney & she wants to go to Disney. I guess that's one way to get there. :rotfl2:

Leigh Nice furniture I like the bed very nice, Where did you get it?

Mac We are in the Motherland 9/30 to 10/7 :woohoo: I would love to meet you in person.

I got the bedroom furniture at Carson Pirie Scott's furniture store. They were having a sale, plus there was an additional discount if you used your Carson's charge card. So I got a pretty big discount on that stuff, too. :woohoo:

And I'm planning on going to WDW sometime in Sept. or Oct. for MNSSHP, I just don't know when yet.

Leigh Nice furniture!!! Are they holding it for you to be delivered after you close on the house?

macraven I've never been one who liked V8, so I would have never thought to have add it to chili! :rotfl:

Yeah, everyone's holding all my furniture until I give them a date. :thumbsup2 And I also need to get a security system, and window treatments before I can move in. Tons of stuff!

And I hate V8 also, but I love tomato juice. Which is funny because I hate tomatoes! :rotfl:

Dinner with the in-laws was nice (I love Maggiano's:goodvibes ) We have a ton of leftovers that we brought home.

We ate at Olive Garden Sunday night. It was yummy! :yay: I got a Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo thing. :cool1: And it only cost us a few bucks because we had a gift card that I had gotten when I went to pick out the carpet and stuff for my house. Because it was so far away they gave us the card. So dinner was free, all I had to do was buy a house! :lmao:
