Good morning everyone! We're baking cookies this morning. Today is our familiy Christmas gathering. I love Christmas time, it one time of year when you can eat everything you love and not feel guilty.

Bunckin I'm glad you said Charlotte's web was good I'm working on Alex to see it. We saw a Charlottes web at Marriott's kid theater a few years ago. It was one of my favorite books.

I'm looking forward to Night in the musuem next weekend, maybe.

Jedi How are you holding up? Have fun for me tomorrow. I wish I could have made the meet.

CHICAGO MEET IS TOMORROW!! :cool1:

Can't wait to see everyone who's going. :goodvibes I could sure use some holiday cheer. Yesterday I was pretty bummed all day. :guilty: DH and I saw each other and went out to lunch, but I guess I was hoping we'd spend more time together, and we didn't. I tried going out with friends at night, but wasn't having a good time, so I ended up taking a cab home

Oh my GOD!! You met Lou Mongello. I listen to his podcast faithfully and I think if he weren't married (and I weren't married) with children, I'd move to New Jersey and hunt him down with an unending passion! WHAT??? So, I like him a lot!! I love listening to him and his books were really interesting.

I have got to do this Mousefest. I think if I met Lou I'd turn into a tongue tied school girl! Stammer stammer Hi, stammer stammer

so lou is your main man, eh....

i have one on you....lou and i have emailed back and forth before.
and, he met with one of my universal homies this past fall......
and they did lunch............

i know lou's universal side.

i got back yesterday.
my computer is very sick and at the mac doctor right now.
borrowing one of the son's laptop and trying to get used to it.

happy hannuakuk
merry christmas
felix navidad

to all my chicagoland homies.

looking forward to the meet tomorrow.

i won't be doing any shopping afterwards but just thrilled to meet everyone.

since we had to get a new furnace, it has set us back.

have not started any shopping and know i won't be able to this year.
furnaces cost more than what i thought they did

reason for the season is all we need at our home. we have heat, beds and
two out of three sons with us.

i'm not cooking but treating the boys and mr mac to burger king for breakfast and dinner that day.
i know they will love that.

after christmas break for school, i really hope to start working again.
i have had to take off the last 3 weeks which has really created a big ouch for us.

excited to meet you all tomorrow.

my parents are not doing well, when i take son back to college in january need to go back to my parent's house and do more for them.

the so called red cross worker they met at the shelter had no affliation with the red cross. he took advantage of my parents big time.

they lost all the money they had in the house, their checkbook, credit cards, watches and things. too sick to even type it all out.

insurance won't cover the damage to the house from the neighbor's tree.
ins agent said it was an act of God and no help. they paid for a home owners policy for years and have never filed a claim. now when they do, no help for the removal of the huge tree and damaged roof and siding.
parents had to come up with $500. to have the tree removed from the roof.

enough of me,now i need to read back and see how everyone is.
hoping geffric has her trip report up !!

You don't need Christmas gifts to have a nice Christmas. Just family and friends. :goodvibes

Hi all-
I woke up to a terrible migraine headache this morning. Feeling a lot better now. Had to push myself to get going so we (I, DH ,DD, DS) can make it to this Christmas luncheon at the nursing home for grandma today. My mom was really depending on us to get there. We had a free lunch there(roast beef, mashed potatoes, spaghetti, garlic bread, dessert). Santa showed up a little later. The kids were thrilled and got candy canes. My mom had all these gifts wrapped and we helped pass out her gifts to the nurses, nurse's aides, and some other staff members. My mom, I think goes a little overboard with having a gift for each nurse and nurses aide and other nursing home staff that directly works with grandma. My mom also is bringing Fannie May candies for the nurses on Christmas. I personally think the Fannie May candies should be enough and not all these individual expensive gifts. When I worked as an RN at a nursing home, I never saw any family members of the residents passing out all these individual gifts to the nursing staff and activity people, etc. I just would see 1 box of candy from a resident's family at the nurse's station and that's it for gifts. That's great my mom is generous to these people, but doing this 4 yrs in a row is I think a little too much, esp when the nursing home administration and staff changes every 6 months, literally  Oh well, we had a good time, tho. Now it's almost time to get to church tonight.

So far, planning to be at the meet tomorrow. Might run a little late getting there. Mac or Jedi, is there a way one of you can PM me your cell phone #, in case we are running really late? Thanks. I posted this also on our DISmeet thread. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Mac- :grouphug: :grouphug: for your parents.

jedi- :grouphug: :grouphug: for you.

Hi to Slo, Bunchkin, Hersey and everyone else :wave2:

Everyone, be safe on the roads and everywhere :)

Happy Sunday all

What a interesting few days I have had.

Friday DD got the stomach flu. (as i think half of the kids at her daycare have) I couldn't go to work but managed to get someone to watch her for a bit in the afternoon so I could run to American Girl Place to get her Santa gift. I got her as she calls it "the yellow and brown hair twins" otherwise known as the Bitty Baby twins. I also found her the matching outfit so I had to get that too.

Her dad (my X) happen to call me while I was there and I was there and I was telling him about the Emily doll and how I know my Emily really wanted it and how much she looked like her. He asked me to buy it for him and pay me back. So I got Emily too. My Emily is going to go crazy at Christmas as I know she really wanted the Emily doll.

I finished the rest of my shopping while I was out and ran back home DD feeling much better (must have been a 24 hour thing).

Concert on Friday night at Aragon which was awesome. I haven't had a adult only night in a very long time.

Saturday DS, DD and I spent the night at my aunts in Chicago which was fun. My aunt invited us to a Christmas neighborhood Christmas party and the kids got a gift and stocking at the end they were very excited about. Mcdonalds after that. Around 7 all of us went on the CTA Santa Train. It was so nice tons and tons of lights. Our group started singing Christmas carols it was so much fun. Got off the train downtown and saw the windows at Macy's they are so awesome this year. Both of my kids love Mary Poppins so we were so happy.

A great weekend only to get better i'm sure as we are leaving in a hour for the meet. Sorry for the long post it's just been a good weekend...

See you all soon. :dance3:

Well, I'm off to make some breakfast
Have a good day today everyone!!!!

Hi Disneynut!!! :wave2:

Sounds like you did have a good weekend :goodvibes

Have fun at The Meet today!!!! :Pinkbounc

I haven't had time to read back through all the posts.

I just wanted to say Hello to everyone. Have fun at the meet today.

My 9 year old is going for his karate belt testing, so I'm headed off to Downer's Grove in a bit to do that. Let's hope he makes it to the next color because he's tired of being in the beginner's class. :rotfl2:

Unfortunately, his brother is not ready to test and I'm annoyed at myself for that. I switched around the 9 year old's testing time & even paid $7 to change it so I wouldn't have to go there twice (once for him & once for the 6 year old)...turns out I could have just left well enough alone and DS-9 could have already had this testing done back in November when he was originally scheduled. Always something with me trying to coordinate everything. I'm even missing my DD in a church performance due to this. :guilty: but at least they are going to be doing the same thing again next week, so I will get to see her then.

We STILL have to get the Christmas tree up (nothing like procrastinating! At least we DID get it out of the attic, just have to get everything put up.) We are hoping to do that this afternoon.

Also, I wanted to let everyone know, if you happen to have Cub/Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts for that matter and are looking for a program on nutrition, dangers of tobacco/alcohol, etc... we went to Delnor yesterday at the Health & Wellness center to work on the Fitness badge and the Community Outreach person did a program. It was fantastic! So, if you are in the area wtih Delnor and need something like that for any group, just PM me and I can give you the contact number. Although, am I the only person who didn't know they changed the food pyramid again? :rotfl: I had no idea it changed from the old one to one called "My pyramid"...then again I'm pre-pyramid in the first place.

Good morning! We had a wonderful time with our family. We received some great gifts and had some great food.

Mac That is awful what happened to your parents. I don't know how some people can sleep at night after doing that.

Jedi  I am sure you will have fun today.

Hi to everyone :wave2:

Good Sunday everyone!!!

Well, we didn't end up going to the meet today. DH had work he had to go do. And he was supposed to be home by now. He promised Lauren to take her to the mall to finish up Christmas shopping. I just called him and he's still tied up and will be for the next few hours. :sad2:
Actually this makes me very mad!! :furious: He's been putting this off over and over again. And Lauren is getting really upset with him. I wish he'sd to keep his promises with her.

slo I have to start getting my head into the vacation thinking mode too. I know it's coming up but still I've done nothing.
I will probably get it in gear after Christmas. Too much going on until then! :thumbsup2
Have fun with Kevin's family today!
We like going to Texas Roadhouse! :teeth:

Hersey I hope Alex decides to go to Charolette's Web with you. But I can tell you that I didn't see many older boys there....so good luck! :thumbsup2

Disneynut Your DD will love getting 3 AG dolls!!! I hope she is feeling better today!!

mac Sorry to hear that your parents were taken advantage of! :sad2:
And I agree with others, you don't need a lot of gifts to have a Merry Christmas! :grouphug:

jedi I'm sorry that your lunch with Toby didn't go as you had hoped. Wish I could have seen you today!!

Hi to everyone else!!!

I should go feed Frodo and his sister lunch!! :teeth:
Have a great afternoon everyone!

Hi all-
The meet went very well! We got to Culvers around 11:30am.
It was nice to finally meet up with some of us from our Chicago thread!
It was very nice to talk to Macraven and Jedi! Also Leigh! Meet Lori/rosie briar and Disneynut and her kids!
My DD was kinda acting up/obnoxious at times, so I had to watch her  I think maybe a couple of pics Jedi took, Chrissy may have stuck her tongue out, but I don't know :p

For dessert, I had the frozen custard of the day, apple crisp. Was pretty good!

Talk to you all later!

Hi everyone! Hope you had a fun get together :Pinkbounc Can't wait to see the pictures. I took some wicker pieces outside and spray painted them today - hahahha. Middle of December and it's like spring. I have a robin in my yard here too. I don't know if he's late or early - think he's just too lazy to fly. I'd be in DW if I were him - for the winter :woohoo: Everyone have a great week! :)
