We have a slight problem in that somehow the little guy ended up with several more gifts than the older ones, so I have to go even it out because we can't have that. :rotfl2:

We had that problem too!!! :thumbsup2
It's much easier to shop for DD during the day while she's in school. But of course I can't buy anything with DS around anymore. He's too smart now and has a sharp eye!! He sees everything!!! :rotfl:
Luckily I was able to finish shopping for him, mostly, before his last day of preschool ended for Christmas break! :)

Our tree is up and my poor little guy. My DD made pillows for her siblings and put the gifts under the tree. The 3 year old knows what his name looks like so saw his name on the gift grabbed it and brought it over to me saying "It's MINE" but when I wouldn't let him open it, he got those big crocodile tears and was so upset...he just kept telling me that it was his, with the big old sad looking, crying eyes. I finally had to take it away and go put it back in DD's bedroom (the edge had popped open anyway so it needed to be re-taped, luckily he couldn't see what it was or I don't think I would have ever gotten it back since it's Thomas the Train fabric she made it in!).

Wow Becky! You are strong. Big crocodile tears and you still held out. I would have given it to him! HA! I can't handle sad puppy eyes. Get's me every time!!

Hi Everyone!! Well, I was at the mall last night and I'm tellin you, I don't want to see Orland again EVAH! But, I have to head back there early Thursday morning. I need a repair on my NEW CAR!! Ugggh! It's a Safety REcall, so I guess it's probably a good idea to get that taken care of huh! I have just one or two things left to pick up! Then I'm done. I'm going to do some wrapping tonight which leaves me Friday to do some serious baking and housecleaning!! Not that my house is dirty mind you, it's just not "company" clean right now! I need to mop the floors (stupid thing to do BEFORE a party), but you can't have dirty floors when your guests arrive right! Then there's always medicine cabinet arranging (to make sure when your family snoops, it falls into the sink :teeth: ) You have to make sure you have the rash cream and the Preparation H right next to each other. Just make it as goofy as possible! Then of course, there has to be the toe-corn pads and that red drying stuff that goes along with the pads! HA! I buy that stuff just to put in the medicine cabinet on Christmas Eve. I got a snoopy family! They look and then report back on what gross stuff they found this year!!! :rotfl:

I have to wash the nice Christmas rugs I put down near the front and back doors because my husband can't walk and balance a coffee mug at the same time. He's totally SIPPY CUP material!!

All that and some grocery shopping and it'll all be over! Or just beginning? Ahhhh, I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas! :faint:

Have a good day everyone!!

I was only strong because DD has been working SO hard on those pillows (she still has some to complete by Saturday for my mom, dad, SIL & brother!) basically she is just learning to sew and they are super easy but she's so proud of herself. She was not home when the incident happened and there is NO WAY I am going to take the joy of seeing her brother's faces when they open those special pillows away from her. Her 9 year old brother has put in special requests because he saw her making other pillows and really, really wants one and she never let him know if she was making him one or not! since those 2 fight like cats & dogs! His is a Star Wars one, since we couldn't find Yu-gi-oh fabric! So....crocodile tears or no, sometimes you just have to know which child you have to be stronger for. :rotfl2: IF my DD was there, she probably would have caved herself though!!!!! The pillows first started out that she was going to bring them down after all the gifts were open on Christmas day, now she decided to wrap them...last I heard she is planning on letting them open them on Christmas Eve so they can sleep with them! :rotfl2: Who wants to take bets she will let them open them on Saturday since that is when my family is getting together for Christmas here and others will be opening their pillows?

She is just like me though, has a hard time waiting for the others to open the gifts you got them...get the gift want to give it to the person right away (the REAL reason I never do my Christmas shopping too early, I would end up wanting to give them their presents early!).

Anyone affected by the derailment?

Must have been big because they broke in with the news. Sounds like it was nothing with major injuries, just major transportation snarls now.

Hope it didn't affect anyone too much here.

Hi Everyone...
Hope all is well...

Hi

Debbie...we make our cards! :scared1: and there are well over 150 on our list (husband's clients & our friends) :rotfl2: :sad2: :lmao: Oh boy. We hope to get them mailed out tomorrow. Some years they have been late. :confused3 It's a LOT easier since we have digital cameras and computers. For years we had to take prints to WalMart or wherever and have them adjust and print, etc. argh. So don't feel bad if yours are going out tomorrow. I'll be happy to have ours done then. I love receiving them though, don't you?

I DO LOVE receiving them. I do WANT to send them out too. I like to try and personalize them a bit with a little message and our signatures. It's just I always procrastinate and then feel like I am rushing to get them done. YKWIM

I don't mind mopping, I don't have a large kitchen at all, but I do hate the futility of mopping for a party and then having to mop again after the party. Something I might do every other week, I now need to do twice in one week. My DH pretty much told me he'd divorce me if I ever got a Roomba or a Scooba. He said he'd only allow me to have one if I become somehow incapacitated. I'm thinking about breaking both my legs! :rotfl:

He said if you can't take five minutes out of your week to vacuum and mop a floor once or twice a month, you don't deserve the legs God gave you. That's usually when he gets hit with the dirty dishtowel! Arrggh! :confused3 Easy for him to say right!!!

Hey everyone.
Been nuts here. I just caught up on everyone's business. Sounds like you are all just as crazy as I am.
We also had a friend die yesterday. Sorry Bunchkin for your loss. Our friend was a Will County Sheriff. He had colon cancer and we had hoped he was going to beat it. It had been a few years. But unfortunately he couldn't overcome this last recurrence. It truly is said to lose someone just before the holidays. They will never be the same for their families. :sad2:
Have to shop tonight myself. Our carpet is being delivered tomorrow afternoon and installed tomorrow and Thursday, which only leaves me tonight. Perhaps I will run into someone at Orland. Happy shopping everyone. I'll be baking during the next couple of days since I have to stay at home.
Have a nice evening everyone.
Oh, I checked out the pictures on the other post. Looks good. Hope you all had a good time.

Sorry to hear about your friend. :(

It was nice running into you at the mall......although it was on the was out of the mall!!! :rotfl: Too bad I hadn't read the thread earlier this afternoon, or I would have made an effort to look for you!! :)

It only takes 5 minutes to vacuum??????? :confused3
He must know some power vacuum course to take or something!! :teeth:
Maybe you need a Danba, since he knows how to vacuum so efficiently!! :rotfl2:

I always do the clean before and after everyone comes over ritual too!! What's the point!!!????!!!!

But then there are the moments like I had the other day, where you need to mop *while* people are over because my DD spills a big cup of pop and it goes everywhere on the kitchen floor and all over everything in it's path!!!!!!! :furious:

I took advantage of Stephanie being out of school today and slept in until 8:15am - it was nice :) Plus, I stayed up until midnight last night finishing my wrapping, which made sleeping in a little nicer :teeth:

Today we are doing some last minute Christmas shopping - I sure hope the traffic in and out of the stores isn't that bad  I need to go to one store just for a couple of bags of Ghiradellis Peppermint bark - everyone loved these :goodvibes

Becky - Katie, my 3 year old, did the same thing when Stephanie brought home her secret santa gifts. She's gotten used to the idea to having to wait :thumbsup2

Bunchkin - I hope everything went well with Hunter getting his cast off. Katie sorta freaked out when she had hers off because of the little saw that they use. How's his arm feeling today?

Sam - I've always heard that Orland is crazy at Christmas time. I've always wanted to go and see how it's decorated, but than the stories of the traffic in and out of the mall scare me

Tiggerrnn - I'm sorry to hear about your friend passing away

Hersey - :wave2:

Debbie - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get ready to go shopping, or should I say, I'm getting ready for parking lot warfare :lmao:

Have a good day today!!!!

Hi all, happy Wednesday-
I had a post all typed up and it disappeared! I know this happens to all of us here :sad2:
I kinda wished my kids were still having school. They have been off since afterschool last Friday and they are driving me crazy
Kinda wished they had school til at least tomorrow, so I can do my Christmas cards!

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: to all who need them. All going thru some deaths of friends or just going thru a tough time in general during the holidays.

Hi to all :wave2:

I know this might be too religious for some here, but I wanted to let you all know my church is going to televise one of our Christmas eve services!! My church is going to show taped x-mas service from our x-mas service this yr!
I had heard from inside people at church that Cirque Du Soleil is going to perform at our 10 Christmas eve services! :woohoo:
I will be attending our Sunday afternoon x-mas eve service. The televised service will be on 11:30 pm -12:30 am on Sunday night on channel 2 (our Chicago affiliate). We use alot of fine arts in our church services. This will be so exciting, as I never seen a Cirque performance of any kind!
So if your up that late at night, turn on channel 2 at 11:30 pm or tape or Tivo it. You won't want to miss it!

Ok, gotta go as Chrissy is driving me crazy right now.

Hi, everyone!

I'm counting the days until Friday - it will be my last day of work this year - I was able to get all of next week off (except a couple of short shifts at my part time job, which is no biggie) :teeth:

Yesterday we had our cookie exchange at work. Now I just have to not touch the cookies at home so I can bring them to my aunt's on Christmas eve

Good luck to those of you braving the shopping! The closer it gets to Christmas, the scarier it gets! I told my mom, very clearly, that under NO circumstances am I going out shopping on Christmas Eve!! Every year there's something that is forgotten and she calls me, begging for me to brave the crowds with her. It makes me crazy.
:rotfl2:

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! My last day here at work and it's only a half a day! Yahoo!! I'm outta here at 12:15! Rock ON!!

Bunchkin: Yes, Dan thinks it only takes 5 minutes to vaccuum, but you've seen my house, it really can't take more than 15 - 20 minutes top to bottom. Little teeny tiny tri-level. I usually only have to vaccuum the bedrooms and the family room, hallway and stairs. The living room is usually closed off museum style with the velvet rope!! I have to let people into my living room though from time to time! Like our Christmas Eve gathering!! :teeth:

Slo: Good for you for being able to sleep in! Megan is getting so excited about Santa too! She said she loved the way Santa always brought her something wonderful that she didn't even know she wanted. Santa knows!! This year, it's going to be the Winter White Stitch I picked up the other day at the Disney store!!

To everyone else: Have a great day! The First Day of Winter falls on the 22nd this year. It's usually on the 21st, so I'm feeling a bit slighted! My and Bunckin's birthday is always the first day of Winter!! Now, the best thing about that day is that from there on through each day gets a little more daylight and less darkness. By February 2nd, it is staying light out til about 5:00 or 5:30. I have to use these milestones to keep focused on the fact that it won't always be winter! Although, I can't complain about the temperatures recently, so I hope NATURE'S FORCES understand that I am in no way complaining!!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

5 MORE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!
Are you prepared???

I'm not!! :rotfl: I still have a little shopping left to do and a few gift cards to pick up.

Last night we did get to the mall and see Santa. This Santa had his own snowy white hair and beard!! The kids took a really cute picture with him. :)

Today I'm meeting up with my mom for lunch. And then I start back up with my phys. therapy for my feet again. Yes, they are still killing me!!!!
Then off to Kohls to find some clothes for my nephew for Christmas.

slo Good luck out and about today!!
The traffic around Orland was not bad last night. And we got a good parking spot too. Everyone was very friendly that we came across.....it was WIERD!!!! :rotfl2:
Hunter's arm is stiff, of course! He was still trying to keep it slighty bent yesterday. But he's letting hang straight down now. Although, it is still too stiff to straighten out all the way. But I'm sure this will pass soon.
Thanks for asking! :teeth:

Sam Your house is not tiny!!! I think you should let Dan vacuum and time him on it!! :thumbsup2
I bet Megan will love the Stitch from Santa!
What are you talking about the 1st day of winter being the 22nd????
:confused3 It's has to be the 21st as usual!!! We've been robbed!!!!!! :faint:

Hi and Happy Wednesday to everyone out there!!!

Looks like WGN will be airing a Bozo, Ray Rainer and other old Christmas specials: Click here for times!

Hi Chicagoans...

I know I rarely post here - but I just wanted to jump in and say thanks!

Several months ago we were chatting about some places in the St. Charles/Geneva area and someone recommended "Rain" as a great place for brunch.

DH took me there for my b-day last month and it was great! $14.95 for a Sunday champange brunch!

I forget who suggested it - but just wanted to say thanks again! We'll be going again soon!

PS - Go Bears!
