Screen Friends
by Miasartiff

My husband has finally gone to work
My children have finished their play
they've gone to bed their stories read
Now it's my time of day.

I've had one of those days
you know what I mean
so I sit back and relax
and turn on my screen.

I'll talk to all my friends
who know just what to say
to make my stresses go
and my troubles fade away.

My friends you're always there for me
whenever I feel blue
and though we've never met before
I know our friendships true.

And although we haven't been friends for long
in this short time it seems
we shared so many things already
our hopes, our fears, our dreams.

We come from different walks of life
but we share a common bond
and it's time to say that of all of you
I've grown so very fond.

So thank you friends for being there
whenever I've needed you
I know you're always there for me
and you know I'm there for you.
I really love this! :goodvibes Especially since I've actually MET some DISers over the years, IRL! :grouphug: This is even more than a screen relationship but, that's how it all got started! :thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing that! :dogdance:

I live in NV. I guess this thread is meant for people to post where they're from. :confused3

The purpose of this thread is for friends old and new to come together to chat.

Come back and chat and time.

I'm glad we went to the zoo yesterday, sounds like rain is going to be our friend today.
Has everyone heard about Steve Irwin (Crocodile hunter) how horrible for his family and friends.

Bunchy your mean your not going to give up WDW for trip to the Zoo? :lmao:
I didn't mean we had to go real soon. This month for me is  to say the least.

I hope this rain is not ruining anyone's holiday.

Becky2005 I hope bandit is doing better today. Sick babies even the furry ones are not fun.
My Hershey is finally over whatever and is his troublesome old self Thanks to a trip to the vet and another bill I didn't need right now.

 Happy (wet) Labor Day...

Sandy...I am sorry to hear about Kevin's grandmother. :grouphug: How are the girls doing with the news?

Hersey...I haven't been to Brookfield Zoo in a few years now, but I always thought it was so pretty there. I think the zoo is probably just as cool as Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Becky..how is the cat today? Our animals are such a part of the family, aren't they?

SamIAm...thank you for posting the poem. I like that a lot. Like Kim said, I also think it's great that we have been able to continue to foster these "screen friend" relationships IRL and have always tried to be a support for one another.

Rose...we are supposed to be going to the Schaumburg parade this morning, too. The hs band that Brian directs is performing, but it is a jazz band, so they have a lot of electronic instruments, and with this weather, I am not so sure it's going to be happening. Have fun marching with the scouts.

Nicole, Michelle...are you guys both packed for your trips *already*?? You are way toooooo organized for me!!!!

To everyone else :wave2: ....try to stay dry and enjoy the day!

Good Morning and Happy Labor Day

It's been so busy at work. Nice to have a Monday off so I can catch up on all my online reading.

I see a few of you have some up coming trips I am so jealous. We just made our reservation at the Boardwalk Villas with dining (not free) and my kids are very excited but feel it's so far away.

I took the kids to Kiddieland yesterday. My parents took me here when I was my son's age and it really hasn't changed too much since I went. The price wasn't too bad $20.75 and a $3 coupon from Jewel came out to $50.25 for the three of us and my daughter could go on all the rides except the bumper cars. My 3 year old loved the thrill rides. She wanted to keep riding the roller coaster. At least I know when she gets the proper height she won't be afraid to ride space mountain. :woohoo:

My sister is in our citys Labor day parade. I'm not sure if I want to go. We have Last Flling and parking is a nightmare, but I would like to see her marching in the parade.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
take care

Hi all- happy wet Labor Day?
Of good news, the Dennis DeYoung concert last night was awesome! :thumbsup2 :cool1:  DH and I had a great time! Dennis DeYoung gave an awesome performance :thumbsup2 the lawn area was jam-packed an hour before the concert, as it usually is at Septemberfest. We found a little open spot to put our chairs. We didn't know or see anyone that we knew at first. About 10 min later, the empty tarps on hte ground in front of dh and I, the people came back to the tarps. Come to find out, they are are neighbors from church that showed up! We know them from church, in the neighborhood ministry. So, they saw Dh and I asked if we can join them! We sat with them during the performance, got to chit-chat, etc. So it was a nice evening overall. :goodvibes

Donna- Not sure yet if Matthew wants to march in the parade, since it's still raining here. I guess we are playing it by ear about marching in it. Matthew and Don were going to go and march. Chrissy and I were going to stay home and pick them up later, after the parade is over. I guess we'll see what happens........

Slo- :grouphug: So sorry to hear about Kevin's grandma passing. Know that she is looking down on you all in heaven. :cloud9:

KimRaye- :grouphug: for you and your family

Becky- hope your cat is doing better :grouphug: :wizard:

SamIAm- thanks for the friendship poem. Friendships always mean alot to me :cloud9:

Leigh- the chocolate truffles sounds yummy! I do hope you can get your internet problems fixed without paying :wizard:

Hersey- Glad you and Alex had a great time at the zoo yest :thumbsup2
Yeah, I'm sorry to hear about Steve Irwin's death, too :guilty: . I thought it was a hoax at first, until all the news media started talking about it. I wasn't a big follower of him, but I feel bad about his death. :grouphug: to his wife and family.

Hi to everyone else that I missed :wave2:

I'll be back later. Gotta get in the shower and find out about the parade, etc.

Still not too good. DH called this morning, then told me it appears she is getting rehydrated but now she's under a heat lamp because she can't keep her body temperature up. She is still having to be force fed.

He is to call again tonight and see what is going on. The only thing we can't figure out is if what they are doing is helping her and it's just going to take time or if what they are doing isn't really going to make any difference & it's just prolonging the inevitable.

Seems everytime we talk to them it's a 1/2 & 1/2 -- on one hand this is better so that's good news and she's improving but on the other hand this negative thing happened and it sounds like she's worse to me but I don't know if it's a catch-22 either that they have to do XYZ and then once XYZ takes place it will take a while for everything to get back in synch.

I'm just glad DH is here because I would be a mess and would not do well having to make these 2x/day phone calls. This is when it comes in handy to be able to keep your emotions in check like Mr. Spock as opposed to wearing them on your sleeve like I do.

Good Monday morning everyone!!! :surfweb:

Did you all hear about Steve Irwin dying :guilty: . I am so sad about that :guilty: - I really liked him. You could always tell how much he loved what he did, and how much he loved his family and friends. He was so much fun to watch. I guess the only silver lining I can find in his death is he died doing what he loves, in the enviroment that he loves. He was much to young to die :guilty: My heart goes to his wife Terri and his 2 beautiful children.

Thanks for all the continued thoughts and prayers for Kevin's grandma :goodvibes You guys are wonderful!!!! :grouphug:

Sk8Leigh - Computer problems are such a bummer :badpc: I hope everything gets back to normal soon. :wizard:

Kim - How is your family doing?

Welcome to our thread!!! Please come by often and visit, we would love to get to know you!!!

HERSEY - Steve Irwin dying is so sad!!! :guilty: You could always tell that his love for animals, his zoo, and his family were truly genuine. I'm going to miss him.

Donna & Rosemarie - Have fun at the parade. I hope the weather holds out for you :wizard:

Disneynut71 - I'm glad you had fun at Kiddieland yesterday. :cool1:

roseprincess - I'm glad you and your DH had a nice time at the concert yesterday :goodvibes

To all my other Chicago friends - Hi there!! :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and give the girls some breakfast. Have a good day everyone!!!

Becky, we posted at the same time.

My continued thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this hard time with your cat. Please keep us posted on how everything is going

well I am turning so old and gray so fast :lmao: I turn 26 today. I wonder how that makes my mom feel :rotfl:

Good Morning everyone! Well I am up bright and early, no Hayley today, my MIL took her overnight yesterday and she will be home later today around 3pm, so that gives me time alone with Katelyn and Katelyn really needs the one on one time with mommy.
I said it before, I am not getting old, only my kids are getting older :teeth:

I am surprised I don't have a head full of gray hair :lmao: Amy was a handful ;)

Good Labor Day morning all. Had a busy weekend. Luckily the board wasn't too busy and I could catch up.
Slo and Kim, so sorry to hear of your loss. P and PD to you and :grouphug: I know how hard it is to lose a family member. But the good memories will be with you forever. And they will make you smile.
Becky, sorry to hear your cat isn't doing well. We had to put our black lab to rest in the spring. She had cancer. So hard when they have been a part of your family for so long.
Hope you all have had a nice holiday weekend. We had a working labor day weekend here. Mowed grass, trimmed bushes, and cleaned out the garage. I sent all sort of toys to charity that kids have outgrown. I have plenty more, but they are on the larger size. Hard to box!!
DMM or any other Dora fans, I have some VHS Dora movies. If anyone would like them, PM me your address and I would be happy to mail them to you. Nice to know things would go and get more use. Mine have outgrown this.
Next to tackle the kids drawers and closets. Put a pair of pants on DS yesterday for church, low and behold, too short. He got them at Easter and only wore them once. Doesn't that just make you ill.
OK, well off to clean, sort and shop. Headed to Westfield in Merriville today, and some other shopping that direction. Since it's raining, not much else to do. Have a good day all.

2sweetangels -- Happy Birthday to you.

I will be going to church in a bit too, so you will be doubly covered today. ;)

I had a rough night last night though, one of our cats was not acting normal, so I had DH take her in to the emergency vet hospital. She's severely dehydrated. They thought it might be kidney failure, which would have been really bad. They ran tests and it appears it wasn't any organ failures but 2 of her numbers were out of whack (I forgot for what -- sodium & potassium? or something like that electrolytes?). Since it wasn't something that there was no hope for, we went ahead with the process of giving her fluids, getting her numbers back in balance and we will go from there. We are just at the wait and see game now, we have to call 2x/day to find out if she will respond to the treatment and get better. I'm going to have DH call before we leave for church & then we will call later in the evening. It's possible this is just a fluke thing and won't happen again OR it's possible it's a very rare disease that dogs usually get but not cats (if she's like my kids, then she probably has it becuase my kids are always getting abnormal things that "Kids this age don't get this"). She's almost 13 years old though, so it just may be no reason other than she's old. We have had her since she's been about 6-8 weeks old.
Becky so sorry to hear about your cat :grouphug:

We just got a phone call this morning from Kevin's Dad telling us that Kevin's grandma finally passed away last night :guilty: . Her death was a good thing ::yes:: She was 87, she couldn't eat, she couldn't drink, she couldn't talk, she didn't know who we were - it was time for her to go to heaven where she could be herself again. I hope her and my Grandma can meet up somewhere where they can keep an eye on us together :)

It's sad to think we are going to live in a world without our Grandma's, but her and my Grandma gave us so many wonderful memories - I thank God everyday for those memories!!!!
Sandy prayers and hugs to your family. :grouphug: I have wonderful memories of my grandma from when I was little. I also find myself saying things she said all the time. She has been gone for almost 20 years and I can still see her standing in her kitchen and hear her voice.

Good Morning All :umbrella:

I am off today and tomorrow

Not much going on just counting down the days.

Yesterday Stacey brought home her school calendar, now her school was probably the only public school in Chicago to start on Thursday the 31st, and everyone else starts tomorrow. Well since they started early, in Feb they get off Thursday the 8th and Friday the 9th. Monday is Lincoln's Birthday the 12th so they are off then also.

What to do with all those days :scratchin Anyone been to Disney in Feb :rotfl2:

Becky2005 :grouphug: and continued prayer for you, your family and the :cat:

Nite0wl71 last year eric and I went to Universal Studios and IOA for the long President day weekend. It was a great time of the year to go, no very crowded and the weather was beautiful.

off to clean and get ready for the day. Hopefully it will be nice later on and we can still BBQ.
