DH and I went to MK late afternoon to start the (Ta-Da) VMK Quests.
We stayed in Frontierland anf Adventureland. Not surprising, the pirate taco place was closed.
I suggested Pecos Bill's, since we were right there. I am not fond of PB either, but DH nixed that right away.
As expected LTT was overflowing.
So we decided to opt for Columbia Harbor House. We have eaten there before. Not a lot, but we were not squimish about having a quick bite there.
The rating:
It began very promising. It was not that busy, even though half of the registers and food order/pick up area was closed off.
The CM at the register was very friendly and quick.
And from there it went downhill.
First, we had the slowest servers in the world behind the counter. I don't think anyone really knew what they were doing, and it seemed to be the blind leading the blind.
Our food came up and sat in front of us while one CM must have read our order slip 5 times (and a slow reader at that). He would read it. Then someone would talk to him. After their conversation, he would re-read our order. (Repeat this four more times.)
I just wanted to either forget the drinks or jump behind the counter and get them myself. And if the movement were any slower buzzards would be circling.
They could not make it at McD's. They would get trampled.
And I was not a bit surprised when my order was not correct. I expected it by then. I just did not care what I had at that point. It would have been an easy fix. (Get my carrots I ordered in place of chips.) But I figure not in this case.
DH just had chicken strips and fries. (Which sound bad to me under most circumstances anyway.) I asked how they were. "Eh"
No surprise really. What can you do with chicken strips and fries that have been sitting around for minutes under a heat lamp?
I ordered the Lighthouse Sandwich - hummus with tomato & broccoli slaw. (Except no tomato -- which they did get right -- Thank You!
)
I was REALLY looking forward to that as I
hummus.
And it would have been good had the bread not been so stale it was near the crouton stage. I used Honey Mustard sauce (from chicken fingers) to dip the bread in to soften it up.
DH pointed out my sandwich was sitting under the heat lamps with his food, waiting, and waiting, and waiting.
I think the bread had been sitting for hours though. That is what it tasted like. Day old bread. Better to have been fed to the birds outside than the guests in.
This is our first bad meal here. But I am sure it will be a long time before we are brave enough to try CHH again -- hummus or not.
Even Pecos Bill's would have had to be better!
