I noticed from my trip that annoyed me was the amount of chewing gum that some morons had stuck to the rockwork at the bottom of the lift hill on Splash where Brer Frog is sitting on his rocking chair. Who are the idiots that think it's Ok just to stick it wherever they want? The bad thing about was that it looked like more than one days worth, you would think Disney would keep on top of this better as the more people see it the more it encourages others to do the same. :confused3

It,s not just the gum, but the amount of trash all over the ride, water bottles, wrappers, and all kinds of stuff that should not be there. I would hope this all gets cleaned up at night but I can see it being difficult to get all the gum.

We couldn't believe the amount of trash we saw while we rode splash. I really do not understand what makes someone think that throwing their garbage there is ok?

I guess some people don't realize its called Splash Mountain, NOT Trash Mountain.

It would be great if they could catch these people and have them pickup the trash in the park after hours. Maybe that would solve their issue of littering.

1) Stopping the gum is almost impossible.
2) But, the CM's should be able to stop transporting food/bottles.
3) The mess on the ride is abhorrent.

I absolutly HATE litter bugs! There is no reason for it period. There are trash cans as you approach a ride and a couple while in line. Disney is smart for not selling gum in the parks, which is another of my pet peeves.

You know what else annoys me? Kids who pick at flowers and plants while their parents watch! Kids will be kids and sometimes do stuff like that-hey! They pick dandelions at home! But I can't stand when parents sit there watching. I also hate spitters-why would I want to walk through your big loogie? Yuck! In general, I hate people being gross and lazy anywhere, but especially at WDW. It's sacred!:rotfl2:

Theres are all good points and WDW shoud consider stopping them. Yo really cant stop all the gum, but the trash can be helped by mybe for trash cans before going on to the ride, or just a no food policy before entering the rides?
Have also seen alot of trash on the monorail, liked crushed animal crackers all over the seats. Cmon parents...:rotfl2:

I think that what it really comes down to is that people should clean up after themselves & not make it other people "jobs" to clean up after them...I understnad that there are certain things that need "help" to clean (ie bathrooms) but seriously people DONT BE SLOBS!!! If you do that in your on home great --not really but I don't have to live there- but clean up after yourself. I was at the grocery store yesterday w/DS and a mother walked by me she SAW & LOOKED at the napkin (or tissue) that her daughter dropped -and walked right OVER it and walked away---gross!!

If I had to guess, the gum and the garbage thrown from the boats would predominantly(I'd guess in the 90-95% range) be coming from unsupervised teens. No one is throwing their garbage inside the attraction because there are no garbage cans in the queue. They are teens who are bored and when turned loose by their parents...look out.

PS Regardless of how it got there, this doesn't excuse WDW from getting in there and keeping it clean.

Couldn't agree more! Litter cans are every 30 feet at WDW! With the # of people per day at the parks, the CM's do an amazing job of keeping it clean! Thank You Cast Members!

Makes me think of being a kid at Cedar Point - on the Corkscrew there used to be a post just after the ride car headed out from the station literally covered in gum - it was disgusting to look at, but as a kid, I couldn't wait to be big enough to stick my gum on that post - it was like a coming-of-age thing if you know what I mean! And once I was a teen, sure enough, I put my mark of gum on that post!! And sadly that post has been removed in recent years...

This in no way excuses the behavior in Splash, I do not feel there should be a display of gum in a Disney park, Disney is at a totally different level than smaller amusement parks like Cedar Point; but I was just trying to give a different perspective on the gum thing :upsidedow What can I say, being a teen makes you do some really dumb things over the years!!

I once saw an adult woman empty her water bottle out on the load floor at ToT. :scared1: She didnt even think twice about it and it created a puddle right there on the floor that Skowkeeping had to come and clean up causing that elevator to stop running for like 10 minutes.

I was on Splash Mountain numerous times 2 weeks ago and I saw that gum. In addition to some trash in the queue line for Splash, there was also a little graffiti on the walls (and it was there for several days).

:sad2: How could people defile this beautiful attraction with their garbage? :sad2:
