My van died:sad: I've been shopping around and landed on the traverse. We love the 7 seat configuration and it can tow up to 5000 with the tow package which we need.

Can someone who owns one chime in and tell me what they think of it so far

I do! We've had ours for over 2 and a half years (will be 3 in January) and I still love it. :)

I know I've said it before (and I feel like a broken record) but I still get a thrill hopping in the drivers seat and taking it anywhere.

We have the Acadia with the captains chairs. We love the vehicle but it gets HORRIBLE gas mileage. We are averaging 15mpg. The sticker says 17 - 24MPG.

We have only had our Traverse for 2 months but I love it! I mainly started looking at the Traverse because of the seat configuration. I really like having 7 seats ( convenient if we have company or the kids have friends ) but my old Freestyle wasn't very convenient. It had 3 middle seats and 2 third row. Pain in the rear to use the third row, as one of the middle seats had to be folded forward. My Traverse has captain's chairs in the middle, so the kids can easily pass to the back.....bonus that my 2 are separated and don't touch each other!:rotfl: I've never been a mini van fan, so this is a nice compromise for us.

I just bought mine at the end of April. While I do really enjoy the comfort, I miss the room my Venture had. That being said, we do love it and the only thing I would have done different is to try harder to find the 2LT that I wanted instead of going with the LTZ. I really wanted the 8 passenger model and the LTZ doesn't have that option. I have been averaging 19.5 miles per gallon and have a history of about 475 miles per tank. I have the tow package also and although the only thing I have "towed" was my storage box, it was easy to hook up and unhook.

Make sure you get exactly the model you want, color, extra's, and anything else. It will really make it worth the price.

Wow, that's terrible! Our MPG is consistently 23-24mpg.

We have the captains chairs, too, so ours only seats 7. :)

We LOVE my new traverse and I have the 7 seat configuration. We brought it last Dec and have not had any problems with it. I drive it everywhere. It's is so comfortable to ride in and to drive. :lovestruc

I have a 2010 Traverse and it is a nice car. I get about 19.5 to 20 mpg with my normal city driving, and 22 to 26 on the highway. It seems very sensitive to the weight in the car and also the winds. Most tanks of gas seem to average about 21 mpg with some highway and some city driving in them.

In the interest of full disclosure, I need to say that I work for a Chevy dealership. (but i'm not in sales) The following is my personal opinion only - definitely not a sales pitch.

Iin my position I get to drive a lot of the different vehicle models and I LOVE my Traverse right now. It drives extremely nicely, in my opinion. I love that I can fold down the back seats for tons of cargo, or haul extra people (like when my in-laws come to town we can drive with them places). I have driven the LT, 2LT, and LTZ models. I don't remember what came with which package, but I love my bluetooth for phone, love the input jack or better yet, the usb port for plugging in our ipod, and the steering wheel controls - I love it. The model I currently have has a second side-view mirror within the mirror for the blind spot and I use that all the time. The back up camera can be annoying sometimes (like every time I back out of my small garage), but it's worth the safety feature. One of the ones I drove had a remote liftgate, but they all have the easy down buttons so I don't have to shove down the hatch if I have my hands full. I'm a former Trailblazer driver and I really missed that car at first but I'm very happy now. Oh - another note - I was looking at the Tahoe but felt leary because it felt so big - the Traverse does not. It sits nice and low too, so it's not like climbing up into a SUV (like my old one - no need for running boards! When I was pg with DS they gave me a Trailblazer without running boards. That was hilarious to watch me haul myself into.) And, like some people have said, I was "anti-minivan" but love my Traverse!

(To be fair, I do not have any experience with other similar crossovers from other brands).

I have an 2008 Outlook which is the Saturn version of the Traverse. I love it to take all the kids and their friends. I get between 18-23mpg depending on traffic and how I drive. If I just set the cruse I'm high if I'm on the peddle it drops. We have 7 passenger and the chairs slide a little hard for younger people to move forward and back.

We have one and LOVE it! We have had it about 6 months. We have the captains chairs and the tow package. We just drove it to Disneyland and got about 22 MPG.

I have a question for those of you with tow packages. Ours just has a button and it came with some wiring in the trunk stowage area. Is that all we should have? I thought it was weird it didn't have a hitch. My husband asked at the dealership about it and they said they would check and never got back to us!

Color me stupid! My Traverse has an easy down button on the hatch?!?! Where is that located at?

I have the Acadia as well, with Capt Chairs and get great gas mileage. Often 20+ per gallon. Mine is 2 years old and I can't imagine changing vehicles anytime soon.

All really great info. What exactly is an easy down button vs an automatic hatch? The hatch on my van is very hard to pull down

We had to buy a hitch. It doesn't come with one. :)

I also wanted to add your engine is different than vehicles with a non-towing package. :)

Not all the Traverses have the automatic close option. Ours doesn't. :) It wasn't something I was willing to pay more for. :)

I LOVE HER TRAVERSE! I bought my Explorer before her Traverse and I love my Explorer, but I would trade in a sec to have that seat configuration...and the A/C seats! ;) But there are never enough seats to seperate my kids...I threatened to put the youngest on the roof...but he would like that!:lmao:

Too funny we have that probably in our car too! Never enough separation! But OMG my kid will be driving in 4 years then maybe they won't fight?

?? about the A/C seats. That would be awesome as we live in FL but I thought that only came on the denali version which was pretty pricey. Can you get that on other models?

Thanks for the reply about towing!

I also thought the A/C seats only were on the GMC version? We wanted them (being in AZ) but weren't willing to pay the GMC Denali pricing. We do have heated seats.... which we never ever use!
