I will go in for my second treatment for chemo on May 4th and will head to DW on May 9th. Will I need to avoid sunlight at this time. If so does anybody have any recomendations as to where I can get light weight clothes that I can wear in May in DW. Please keep in mind that I need petite clothes. I would appriciate any feedback that you can give me. :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you just wanted to send my best wishes to you!

Although, come to think of it LLBean may have a line of light weight clothes for women in its "travel" section. I seem to remember seeing something like that.

Good luck. :sunny:

I hope you have a fabulous time on your vacation!!
In Dec of 2002, my now fiance and I went to the World while he was in the middle of his chemo treatments...the biggest thing for him was wearing a good hat that kept the sun off his face and neck. He bought one of those fisherman-style floppy hats at Epcot and wore it the WHOLE time we were at Disney. We also took frequent rests in air conditioned restaurants and shops and made sure he ate as healthy as possible (with a few cheats here and there)...We're big athletes, so he had a lot of the Nike Dry-Fit clothing, it's very lightweight and is actually made to wick moisture from the skin, so it's also cooling in hot temperatures. I think Adidas has the same kind of line, ClimaFit, I believe it might be called. We've had great luck with both of those brands :)

We've been to the World quite a few times while he was undergoing treatments...so if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. If I don't know the answer, I'll ask him...I know it's different for everyone, but from one patient to another, some advice might help!

I really don't have any suggestions either (sorry)--- I just wanted to wish you a wonderful trip!!!!!!!

Landsend.com has some great light t-shirts that have long sleeves. These may help. And drink, drink, drink that water! Oh - invest in some really good sunglasses, also. My eyes were more sensitive to the light, for some reason.

Enjoy! It is a happy place and you need to be in a happy place right now!

:) No suggestions, just good wishes and pixie dust. My mother, at age 77, went through chemo. She just passed the 5-year point and is doing very, very well. Thought you might want to hear a good success story...:sunny:

Our dd 4 suffered 2nd & 3rd degree burns on her face & her arm. She wears the long sleeve shirt along w/ a wide brimed hat.

The company is WONDERFUL! All of us wear their hats so DD doesn't feel out of place.

Too many parents are not careful enough to be sure that the infant or tot is shaded from the sun while in the stroller. After a day crisscrossing the park strapped in the stroller and unable to hide in the shadow of someone's leg, a child can be severely sunburned.

While long sleeves may prevent second or third degree sunburn, some sunburn might still occur under thin fabric.

Plastic upholstered car seats and stroller seats get mighty hot in the sun. Do not seat the child unless you can press your own hand onto the seat cushion and keep it there comfortably.

Never put soda pop in a baby bottle.

When I went in May of 2002 I was on chemo and had just finished radiation treatments. My advice for you is to wear light clothes and a visor to cover your face, also.***very important***
go to guest relations and get a special card that allows you to wait in line out of the sun. All you do is show it to the CM at the attraction you are at, if it is not in a shaded area and they get you in a shaded spot. I did and it was great..my group all 7 of us were able to go in the handicapp area and wait-some of it was even a/c! I had brain tumor surgery in Feb 2002 but was determined not to miss our planned WDW trip so we went. The pass from guest relations saved me from being burned. Temperature was 95 degrees that week. Hope that helps. Guest services will issue that card for the length of your ticket. Call guest services if you have any other ?'s.

Not the cheapest, but Travelsmith (www.travelsmith.com) carries some nice comfy and lightweight clothing. Check out their "tropical" section as well as their sunblocking items, just do a search for "UPF". They have petites and plus size things too. They're designed for travel, so a lot is wrinkle-proof too.

My husband is a field botanist, and swears by CoolMax stuff to keep cool in, and Travelsmith carries it as well.

I'm not a spokesperson for Travelsmith, but they certainly fill a need, at least for us.

best of luck to you!

I just looked at my card (I save everything from my WDW Trips) and it is called a Guest Assistance Card and they put in how many people are in your party and the dates of your pass/however long you will be there. It is valid for all 4 parks.

oops one last note, I did take a doctors note with me that I was on chemo just in case I needed proof. I do not remember if I had to show that note or not, but get one in case. Of course, all they had to do was look at my shaved head and battle scar to know I was telling the truth LOL
