Has anyone eaten here lately? The menu looks pretty good. What are some good dishes? How am I going to decide between the lobster bisque and the French onion soup??My gosh, I love them both! :mickeyjum :donald: :goofy:

Not very recent, but we did eat ear during our Christmas trip as part of the Candlelight Processional package and really enjoyed it. I posted a dining review with photos, but unfortunately I can't seem to get it to pull up when I search...server too busy keeps popping up.

We, DH, DS who was 13 when we ate there, and I thought it was quite good! I loved the cheese plate appetizer. DS wasn't thrilled though with the vegetable soup...it was a puree, cream soup...looked like split pea, but tasted fine. He just wasn't thrilled with the appearance. DH had the escargot and enjoyed it, despite it being rich in that butter sauce. We each had the beef tenderloin...done just right and tasty! The potatoes were very creamy, but thought it needed some more seasoning as it was a bit blah. The green beans were good. DS loved his dessert...the cream puffs and since he doesn't like almonds, it was easy to ask for it without. DH and I had the dessert in honor of the 50th celebration...very light, refreshing, but the cookie was crisp on the edges and chewy in the center. Personally, I kinda liked that difference.

As a family, we said we'd eat there again.

Hope this helps!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Disney...although I like the upstairs better.

The food is wonderful and presented well. My favorite was the fish baked in the slices of potato...yum. My friends got the filet mignon and thought it was wonderful as well.

I'm not a big fan of onion soup but, judging from the groans of ecstasy coming from my best friend, I'm assuming it was pretty darn good.

I have to say that the service there is just a little nicer than most places too. But you're talking to someone that just loves to have French waiters fussing over her, lol.

Go and enjoy...well worth it.

We love chef's de france. :thumbsup2 I will be having my b-day dinner here in august. ;)

Favorites: appetizer = not sure of the "french" name, but our server suggested a large flat white bread / tortilia covered in a white cheese with bits of bacon spread on it. Was fabulous. and something we would not of tried without a little push.

Dinners: I have had the beef tenderloin a few times, and you could cut it with the fork. the potatoes au gratin are to die for. also comes with green perfect beans. Sis swears by the mac n' cheese. Trust me, this is no ordinary mac n' cheese. :) I have tried it and it is also wonderful.
We have had the french menu at lunch with the onion soup, ham / cheese sandwich & creme brulee' and it was a very great lunch, and priced reasonably.

I thought they pushed the wine abit. We have mold allergies, so cannot tolerate wine, but they where ok with our request and laid off. I did over hear a few hard sells. This I thought was my only possible complaint with chef's. We have always had theeeeeeeeeee bestttttttttttt serviceeeeeeeeee here! :wizard: Truely magical.

Have a great time. and relax you will love it. mky princess:

We ate there week of 5/8. I had onion soup, DD had lobster bisque. Then we had 2 different steaks for entree. Chocolate something for dessert. All was excellent--well presented, tasted wonderful. Server was totally sweet and great. Wish we'd had more days...it was one of the places I can't wait to eat at again.

I LOVE the French Onion Soup and the Cream Puffs. Heck, if you want to throw in the filet for good measure, that is tasty too. :thumbsup2

Maybe someone could answer this. Are the soups at Chefs de France considered appetizers on the dining plan?

Yes, I believe soups are considered an appetizer on the dining plan at any restaurant as well as a salad if chosen. If there are any specific restrictions, such as one of the "for two" choices, most CMs will inform you if they know you are using a dining plan. During our visit to Chefs de France, we were using the Candlelight Processional Package, which state we were allowed 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert and 1 non-alcoholic beverage.

Hope this helps!

Chef's de France is one TS credit. THere are both soups and salads in the appetizer category. The Fr. Onion soup and lobster bisque are both appetizers on the DDP. There were NO restrictions on the menu week of 5/8.

thanks for that info... i think this is one dh/i would enjoy and the kids could "suffer thru" ;)

i saw that there is a grilled ham/cheese sandwich on the lunch menu... think they'd make just a plain grilled cheese for ds?

I love lunch at Chefs de France, but dinner is even more extra-special, with many great menu choices available for dinner that are not available for lunch. (And of course, both lunch and dinner are the same "price" on the Dining Plan.)

We were just there for dinner May 19th and it was, hands down far and away, the best meal and service we had during our stay. I had the Alsace tarte for an appetizer and my DH, a more adventurous diner, had the assortment of pates. He ordered the lamb shank for an entree and I had the duck. We both had creme brulee for dessert. My daughter had the chicken strip kids dinner. Everything was delicious and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. BTW, I normally would not choose a french restaurant while on vacation or at home but I am sooo glad we ate here.

Wow! What great reviews! I am so glad that I chose this restaurant. I do love creme brulee so I will be sure to have this. I had better keep dieting madly now as I am sure to gain a few pounds on this trip!!

We were there in November and it was OK. The food was actually VERY good, but we had some issues with being seated and how long it took to get our food. We had a PS but it still took about 45 minutes or so to get a table - probably longer actually. Then from the time we ordered our food, it also took FOREVER. Our waiter was very nice - an older man from France, who was very funny so that helped because the kids were getting tired and cranky (and so was I).

So the jury is still out whether or not I'd go back.

Here is a simple yet good answer: If you like French food, it is very good. Excellent. However, it is very authentic. So some do not like it. As in many of the disney fine dinning you need to know what you are getting into.
