Chefs de France Prix Fixe 3-Course Menu & the Basic Dining Plan

I'm trying to decide which World Showcase restaurant to choose for our upcoming trip.

As a little background, in 2008, we had the DxDP & loved it. However, then our 2 older children were still actually Disney "kids". Last year, we also had the DxDP, & we wasted sooo much food. I think the difference was that our 2 older children are now considered Disney "adults", but they still eat like kids!

Therefore, for our upcoming trip, we decided to go w/ the basic DP to see if that "fits" our family better right now. So, my question --

If you are on the basic DP, can you order the Prix Fixe 3-Course menu at Chefs de France & have the appetizer included?

In May of last year, I was told yes, you could. I was on the DxDP at the time so I didn't test it out.

Yes you can....but you only have the choice of 3 specific appetizers (no substitutions). Salad, french onion soup or lobster bisque

Yes, as long as there are no substitutions.

we just did the 3 course fixed price menu on Sunday 3/4/2011. Was very good...we all got the onion soup, 2 of us got the beef and noodles entree, one got the salmon. For dessert, 2 of us got profitaroles, one person got the berry cream cake. Delicious entrees and desserts. Excellent service. And one TS credit per person on the regular dining plan

There have been changes in the dining plan in the past 2 years, but this hasn't changed. You can still order the prix fixe on the regular DDP, but you cannot make any substitutions. It is one of the few opportunities for someone on the DDP to get an appetizer with their meal.
