I can honestly say I don't recall ever having bad service or a food at Chefs. And Saturday was no different.
ADR was for just before 5 p.m. But I don't think they started seating until just after 5.
Started off with just ice teas to drink.
Got the usual warm roll and butter.
(yummy)
Friend ordered Noix de Saint Jacques et gambas sautees Flan d'epinards, sauce a l'oseille - Sauteed scallops and black tiger shrimp. It was served with a sweet potato souffle and ratatouille. (Little did we know before this ratatouille is an actual dish, not a movie character.)
She loved her meal. She meant to get the ratatouille recipe, but we forgot to ask for a card to fill out.
I ordered Salade maison - selected greens, house vinaigrette dressing and Gratin de macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese.
The salad was just greens and vinaigrette dressing. Actually I had meant to order their other salad and ordered wrong.
But for just greens and dressing it was very good, and plentiful. My friend ate half and we each had plenty. It did come with onions on top,
which neither of us wanted.
The mac and cheese I have had at least a few years ago and I thought was better then. It was okay. Good cheese, somewhat creamy. But more bland than I would like. I would order something different for a main dish next time. What I had was good. But I could do myself at home pretty easy. (Pasta tubes, cream/butter and a good quality cheese.)
We were not planning on dessert, but the server plunked the dessert menus in front of us and our willpower left.
Friend had:
Salade de fruits infusee au the Earl Grey, sorbet mangue - fruit salad infused with Earl Grey tea syrup and served with mango sorbet
I tried a dip of the syrup. It was OMG good.
I would get that dessert myself in a second. And being it was "infused with Earl Grey tea syrup" we expected a murky color sauce. Not at all. Never would have guessed tea had anything to do with it.
My dessert was wonderful too:
Chocolate Tarte
It was a creamy piece of a chocolate type mousse dessert with a variety of large fresh berries, with a small scoop of coconut ice cream with some coconut and a raspberry sauce on the plate.
VERY GOOD.
The berries were all flavorful, good and LARGE -- just like they have at Tutto's.
We both gave Chefs a big thumbs up. Again, I would try something different than what I ordered. But overall very good and enjoyable.
